God
I know that God
will always be
nearby watching
over me.
but occasionally
on certain days
I forget
along the way.
And on those days
my heart seems blind,
but somehow some way
I always find
that as I give
and get a smile,
God has been there
all the while.
A simple fact
that still holds true
a smile is love
from me to you.
Kathryn Heim Aug 2016
God has smiled on me,
listen and you will see
all the gifts that he bestows
nurture my countenance
and it shows.
Joy, He put in my heart
peace permeates my spirit true,
Love's been there from the start,
these greatest gifts alone
would do,
but hope he grants me
everyday,
and faith remains my
treasure chest,
so with thanks and praise
I proclaim
I am the most richly blessed.
Kathryn Heim Jul 2016
In God's garden
where we grow
side by side
row by row,
He waters our
souls with love,
sprinkles from
up above
provide relief
for flowering hearts
where blooms of peace
and joy start
in God's garden
where we grow
side by side
row by row.

The weight of death
spoke to me
and everything
I want to be
and everything
I want to see
will someday
just be history.
But I never seem
to care enough
to shed myself
of earthly stuff,
and though this truth
is ages old,
unlike the body
does not grow cold.
Therein lies the
eternal key
the balance of
God's gravity.
Kathryn Heim May 2016
The grace that lives
proves to us
why Christ died
upon the cross.

The grace that lives
does not deceive,
it only asks
that we believe.

The grace that lives
is not our foe,
other than love
it does not know.

The grace that lives
will transform you
to live your love
in all you do.

The grace that lives
will set you free
and take you where
God will be.
Kathryn Heim Feb 2021
Your laughter courses
through my veins
warming to the core,
igniting a fire
like no other

I am your grandmother.

Sing your song
and tell your story
be the beauty
in the wild,
but always remember
my love for you burns
like no other

grandchild.
Kathryn Heim Jan 2020
The gray of day
May be our light
When compared
To the dark of night.

If we pray
For no more gray
Then darkness
Might become our
Day.
Kathryn Heim Sep 2016
The angels sing
through
soft
whispers of heaven's gaze,
as Mary grants
us tender comfort
for our days,
ever mindful
of the greatest
gift love brings,
our Savior, the King of Kings.
Kathryn Heim Jun 2018
Do you look
or do you see

the ocean waves
or majesty?

the cloudless sky
or heaven's sigh?

the children play
or hope for the day?

the cocoon's spin
or the promise within?

the flames higher
or the will to aspire?

the stars bright
or dreams that ignite?

If we see
with heart and soul
what can be
our lives unfold
our stories told

that's harmony.
Kathryn Heim Aug 2016
My heart swells
into a smile
I keep,
and love surfaces
that was buried deep
becoming a gentle touch
without fear
as compassion surrenders
into prayer.
Kathryn Heim Dec 2016
Hail Mary
Queen of queens
A mother's love
as never seen.

By her grace
we strive to be
so
our love will echoe
Her majesty.
Kathryn Heim Feb 2016
To validate
serves to create
a reason to believe.
For one and all
both large and small
we should not hesitate,
as one might say
this might or may
interfere with fate.
Kathryn Heim Jun 2016
Today I criticized someone
about something
they had said or done,
and their character
that seemed to be
of content that
did not agree
with right and good
that I could see,
but then I turned around
to find
that those same traits
resembled mine,
yours truly
that's right
me.
Kathryn Heim May 2016
The ladder that
I had in mind
did not look too
hard to climb.
and as I ventured
upward bound
seeking what's on
higher ground,
leaving everything
below,
all that I had come to know,
I heard the voice
of God proclaim
that love will
always stay
the same,
and heaven is
a place that's higher
where peace has
lit eternal fire,
but love is love
and can be found
anywhere
and is not bound
by space or time
or life or death,
and must be shared
as life's sweet breath,
so as the heavens
serenade
I saw that if
on earth I stayed
the love in every heart
I find
is closer than
a ladder climb.

hold my heart
and i'll
hold yours
as we board
the moonlit cruise.

we'll ride the waves
on the highest sea
our love will flower
in the
moonlit breeze.

and when daylight
touches our souls
we'll maintain
the boat
row by row.
Kathryn Heim May 2019
hold my heart
and I'll hold yours
as we board
the moonlit cruise.

We'll ride the waves
on the roughest seas
our love will
dance in the
midnight breeze.

and when the daylight
touches our souls
we'll maintain our voyage
row by row.

Hope
that
warms me
comforts
cradles
everywhere
my sight can see,
hope
that
wakes me
mornings
leading
present
everywhere
I want to be,
hope
that
keeps me
focused
joyful
ever knowing
faith has
set me free.
Kathryn Heim Jan 2017
As the satin colors
of the morning sky
with echoes of glory
for all to see
softly crescendo
my soul to a high
how can I not Lord,
think of Thee.
Kathryn Heim May 2016
Humidity
smothered me
between the sun
and clouds,
while  impending
storms
hovered,
making the silence
loud.
Kathryn Heim May 2016
A soothing hymn
that enters in
and comforts patiently.
A heavenly tune,
God's melody
that serves to swoon
through harmony
between
sun and moon
called
eternity.
Kathryn Heim Sep 2020
If no one cried
when someone died
would wars be fought
or true love sought?
would memories
of moments caught
be all for naught
if no one cried?
Kathryn Heim Feb 2021
As long as you're in love with me
I will never cease to be.
Kathryn Heim Sep 2016
"I'm sorry for you loss"
I heard them say,
but the weight of
these words
I threw away
because death will
not embrace
me here
nor keep my
soul enslaved
by tears.
For Christ
my king has
gone before,
and broken through
death's mighty door
where now my
love awaits for me
in the glory of
eternity
and there is
no room for
sympathy.
I am sorry
for you loss
if these truths
you cannot see.
Kathryn Heim May 2016
Between life and death
and all the rest
emotions fly
and we don't know why.
But onward  through
our journey true
the highs and lows
the news and olds
what things seem
and what we mean
one thing is sure
for us born pure
one simple birth
upon this earth
will always be
for you and me
one and all
to catch our fall
when our hope strays
a God that stays
is always seen
everywhere
and in between.
Kathryn Heim Jul 2016
Someone asked
what's in my head
I paused
and then I softly said
some days a poem
some days a song,
but then I suddenly
realized
that prayers
are what I've memorized
and with a prayer
your mind can
feel
that love
from songs
and poems
is real,
so these I
keep inside
my mind
so that I
will always find
that God alone
will suffice
and I will
not have to
think twice.
Kathryn Heim Apr 2016
Remembering one
solitary being
is what society
is not seeing.

Drink this wine
and eat this bread
does not stand for
what is dead.

The purpose to be
is what you and me
should honor and treasure
through memory.

But maybe
only the dying
can see
with vision
that looks
eternally.
Kathryn Heim May 2018
In the middle of fear
at the edge of pain
no light seems near
to guide the brain
relief is a dream
hope, a lost cause
it does not seem
oppression will pause
always then
God will be near
at the edge of pain
in the middle of fear.
Kathryn Heim Jan 2018
A hike on a trail
where rocks and hills
satisfy a seeking spirit
and restless reasoning stills.

This trail beneath
a brilliant winter sun
that circulates
sustenance for the soul
throughout the
eternal blue,
beckons one and all
me and you.
Kathryn Heim Apr 2016
If we keep heaven
in our gaze,
we will find
that most days
will be less of petty
and more of praise.

If we keep heaven
in our being
then that will be
what others are seeing.

If we keep heaven
in our emotion,
then we will
find love
deep as the ocean.

If we keep heaven
in our anticipation,
then we will not
be disappointed by
the God of all creation.
Kathryn Heim May 2016
A need
a squeeze
a spark
a cell
a pulse
a cluster
a shape
a soul
a mind
a smile
a need.
Kathryn Heim Feb 2016
Inside this grave
you will find
the darkness
that I left
behind.
And all the
light
you cannot see
is my window to eternity.
Kathryn Heim Sep 7
I want my words to live past me
beyond when I cease to be,
of all the things from my past
the truest ones are
my words that last.

I want my prayers
to outlast me,
spoken when I
cease to be,
Remember that
no one can stay,
but our link to heaven
is when we pray.
Kathryn Heim Jun 2016
Set my sights
silent prayers
peace through Christ
crucified
heaven above
lived and died
love begets love
hope unfolds
for all time
story told.
Kathryn Heim Jul 2018
Lives persecuted
love's outcry
what others see
but still deny.

Would our beliefs today
stand the test
martyrs of Rome
put to rest?

A gift of faith
through the
hands of time
is the key within
this sacred crime.
Kathryn Heim Mar 2016
My God and mighty king
can see
where we are and what we'll be.
He knows we're living
day to day
and hears us every
time we pray.
He understands our
every need
and always knows
the way to lead.

He is our sunrise
through the storm
protecting us
from every harm.
My God and mighty king
I sing
with grace and love
for you and me
He always
stands by
patiently.
Kathryn Heim Oct 2018
"It's very simple
you will agree,
just crank the motor
and shift the gears
and you will get where you want to be,"
Mr Crankshift said to me.

And I , being me,
looked into Mr Crankshift's eye
and conveyed the words
"I see."
Kathryn Heim Feb 2016
Words I think
and
those I feel
separate
but merge surreal.
In my mind
or in my heart
words together
yet apart.
Blunt or sweet
words of choice
trying to find
that inner voice.
Powerful tools
for all to use
encouraged by
a certain muse.
Kathryn Heim Aug 2016
My life's quest
journey and chase
as a member
of the human race,
to find and keep
the things adored
and preserve the memories
that came before,
but most meaningful
I'll have to say
is the love we share
from day to day,
and as we continue
to reach out
the proof within is
what life's about,
turning ourselves inside out
because all along
my soul, you see
is the gift
God gave to me,
a gift for  us
in turn to give
to teach each other
how to live.
Kathryn Heim Aug 24
i opened my heart
to grace and glory

and the greatest blessings
became my story.

God fills my soul
with love and grace

making my days
at peace with the pace.
Kathryn Heim Mar 2016
My words go with me everyday.

My words can laugh and run and play.

My words can shout or sing a song.

My words can be short or very long.

My words can be angry and sometimes mad.

My words can be lonely and very sad.

My words can shine and be very bright.

My words can be still like a cold dark night.

My words can soar like a bird in the air.

My words can hug like a big warm bear.

My words can dance like a ballarina’s toes.

My words can balance on the end of my nose.

My words can squirm and twist and wiggle.

My words can sometimes make me giggle.

My words can grow like a beautiful flower.

My words can last for one whole hour.

My words can be sticky like jam on toast.

My words can be scary like a groaning ghost.

My words can be forever like the big blue sky.

My words can flicker like a firefly.

My words can clap and celebrate.

My words are mine to build and create.

My words can be many or they can be few.

But most of all,

My words are a gift from me to you.
Kathryn Heim Mar 2016
A bale of hay,
a majestic
cry,
a brilliant star
in the
velvet sky.
A stable wait,
as shepherds kneel
and angels still
celebrate
as heaven sings
for
the King of Kings.
A humble birth,
God on earth.
Kathryn Heim Jun 2016
The silence of
noisy words
flies through my head
like wingless birds
with no flight plan
they come to land
upon my page
no longer caged.
Alone they stand.
Kathryn Heim Apr 2016
I like to write
but I don't know
if my writing
has a flow.
I always care to
contemplate
every single
word I state.
But then again
I've always heard
do not obsess
on every word.
Kathryn Heim Apr 2016
Red is a poppy
red is fire
red is love
red is desire
red is the simmer
red is the sun
red is the spark
from a smoking gun
red is the warmth
that fills up
our heart
red is the passion
that tears us apart
red is impatient
red is a sin
red is excitement
whenever we win
red is a pinch
red is a poke
red is convinced
pink is a joke
red is the boil
red is the heat
red is the sizzle
that stops on the street
red is a kiss
red is a hug
red is the good luck
in a lady bug
red is the pulse
red is a blush
red is invigorating
red is a rush
red is God's spirit
living in us
red is the blood
He bled on the cross.

Hold fast to
a pillar
as strength ensues
and suffering
will succomb
and lose.
Kathryn Heim Apr 2016
An architect of words
that permeate our lives
and we build their graceful arches
in the courtyards of our minds.
Kathryn Heim Aug 2016
Clears my mind
cleans my soul
fills my heart
makes me whole
seeks the truth
sets me free
brings me closer
to eternity.
Kathryn Heim May 2016
Prayers for our spirits
prayers for our souls
speak volumes about
the faith that we chose.

Prayers for the living
prayers for the dead
exist and breathe
in the words being said.

Prayers of thanksgiving
prayers of praise
enrich our lives
through God's
sacred ways.

Prayers of penance
prayers of remorse
give God a chance
to alter our course.

Prayers for no reason
prayers any time
are hard to say
and harder to find.
Kathryn Heim Mar 2016
Sacrifice
and prophecy,
a journey to
the temple.
Something extraordinary
began with tradition.
Offering to God
their infant son,
confirmed spiritually
by Simeon.
The maternal yearnings
that never part
foretell  a sorrow
near Mary's heart.
Kathryn Heim Feb 2016
The bluest sky
the greenest grass
like all life
on earth
must pass.
The purple field
and yellow hill
speak softly
the creator's
will.
To preview all
this glory be
a glimpse
into eternity.
