.I struggle  ||  to find
.  the words, any  ||  expression for
     the invisible  ||  moths that
.    flutter  ||  within
                       .      me & whis-  ||  per emotions
.                   that I can  ||  never echo

I'll never forget the way he smelled at the
park that first day in his flannel shirt
with the water dripping from his
hair. While he pushed me on
the swings, a cigarette in his
lips and the rain falling off
of him and onto my face,
he tip
          top
                tapered
across my rib cage
and into my veins.
His fingers felt like
they did the same
most quiet nights.

There he sat
right across from me
under my roof
uninvited
His presence alone triggered a rage
that before him was never known
His words slithered from his lips
Far from anything genuine
hanging in the air heavily
incessantly striking and pressing me
and I flinched at the notion he's been here for years
I saw him before through my families tears
It's surely the game that I oppose
but when you can put a name to it
this illusion grows
that you could take the life from it...

A screen was posted on a wall, the corners of my mind
Were stretched so very thin indeed, reverberating time

And vapid personalities then danced upon the veil
Attempting to impose themselves as those who never fail

In perfect step with everything, their tendencies align
Allow for new anatomies to form upon their spine

Collect, repel, reorganize with regular delay
I cannot tell you what's become of every single day

To calculate would take too long, the change of pace too much
And I've become immune to what is parallel to touch

See, I have learned their song by now, I've memorized the beat
Its rhythm pulses fervidly, intensifies the heat

The space is filled with every breath of those who write the notes
A call to those who cannot keep the music in their throats

To the hopeful ones:
I am unavailable.
Emotionally.

keep looking

your eyes search me
looking for scars
that might tell where I’ve been
my body is clean

your words search me
inquiring about my past
and waiting expectantly
my response is brief

your lips search me
feeling for impressions
left by former lovers
I’ve been smoothed over

so I write this poem
to urge you to keep searching
for you are close
and will find me soon
