Love is not something
                      you feel, it is
                something  you  do

            I wonder if love is worth
                        fighting for,
                but  then  I  remember

                       The older I get,

                drama, conflict or stress
                          and that all I
               really want is a cozy home,
                     good food, and to
                  be surrounded by happy
                                people.

Growing up in the 60's and 70's,
                   I learned to smile
                like  I've  never  cried,
            I  learned  how  to  fight  like
                   I've never lost.

          And as a United   States   Marine
                            in Vietnam
                    I  learned  how  to  ****   
                       so I could make it  
                home   alive  only  to  face
            another war in my head called
                            PTSD or die.

                 And  I  learned  how  to
                              love like
                    I've never been hurt.

                      And I learned to live
                  like  there's  no  tomorrow
               but  how  to  live  in  the  now,
                    and I learned kindness
                 doesn't  cost  a  ****  thing,
                         so I learned how to
                sprinkle  that  ****  everywhere.

                    But most important of all
                        I learned that there's
                only one thing that can make a
                       soul  complete, and
                         that thing is love
                               and that's
                     just the way we rolled.

Some memories
                  never  leave  
       your  bones.  Like  salt  in
           the seas they  become  
                 part  of  you.
           The smell of her hair,
              the taste of her
            mouth, the feeling
                 of her skin  
         seemed  to get  inside
              of me, or into

                    She had
      become  a physical necessity
          and  we  were  in  bed
     together  laughing  and   we  
                didn't  care
            about   anything.
         The  strongest  drug
   that  exists  for  a   human  is
         another human being
                   and the
                little things?
         The little moments?
                They aren't
                      little.

           to  accept  each
             minute as an
      unrepeatable miracle,
           which is exactly
      what  it  is -- a  miracle

     one thought driven home
              is better than

        The human body was  
             wisely designed
       so  that we can neither
