This silence is deafening.
Endless rows
consecutive and parallel
with infinite gloom.
Time stretches.
Attention spans drop like flies.
Body counts rise
as heads fall
on desks
Blink and a star is on its way to sleep,
I'm standing so close to Jupiter,
I can feel its winds sweep me off my feet,
I'm an astronaut without a name,
I'm an astronaut without a name.

Consider this,
I'm away on a cruise to Saturn's ring tonight.
Consider this,
The Sun's so far, it's so cold, I can't feel the light,
You penetrate my gravity armour,
You strike me with your black hole armada.

Neptune looks so lonely at night,
She longs for Venus but she's so far away,
Four hours at the speed of light,
But she's bound by the chains of gravity,
She's bound by the chain's of gravity.

Consider this,
I'm a million asteroids left alone in the emptiness,
Consider this,
I reach out for the blue but I burn in the atmosphere,
Your skies have set me on fire,
Burning in the flames of your desire.

The birth of a star painted in a supernova,
The glowing halo of a mothership,
Is all that was left over.
They reach out for the sun,
They reach out for the sun.

Consider this,
They don't have ******* eyes like Mother told us.
Consider this,
They look like him and her we spoke to on the bus.
But you flew your guns at them,
You rushed your bombs at them.

It was on the news that she brought down the aliens,
They looked like me and you but she went after them,
But nobody could be found on the ship that brought them here,
The red lights on Mars they felt was safer than this fear,
And yet she found one of them,
The one who saved them all,
The one who chose to stay,
And take the fall.
The unnamed astronaut.
The unnamed astronaut.
You told me you dreamt of me last night.
Though it seems strange,
a dream of waking.

You said I slept beside you
in the morning light.
And you lied there,
just enjoying.

Then you woke me,
in your sleep,
with a gentle kiss,
and you held me close to your beating heart.

I love how these dreams draw us
close together,
even while we sleep apart.
My Pillow gazes upon me at night
Empty as a gravestone;
I never thought it would be so bitter
To be alone,
Not to lie down asleep in your hair.

I lie alone in a silent house,
The hanging lamp darkened,
And gently stretch out my hands
To gather in yours,
And softly press my warm mouth
Toward you, and kiss myself, exhausted and weak-
Then suddenly I'm awake
And all around me the cold night grows still.
The star in the window shines clearly-
Where is your blond hair,
Where your sweet mouth?

Now I drink pain in every delight
And poison in every wine;
I never knew it would be so bitter
To be alone,
Alone, without you.
butterfly, fly away
infest my heart some other day,
you'll find its just too dead to give
you all the love you need to live.
once upon a time it beat
to another's tune; so sweet
but as it is, the lies decay
and block out all the light of day
'til only pain falls from above
its damaging to fall in love.

so butterfly, onto your grave,
i've bled out all the life you crave.
December 2009-
The sky is like him
I would say he is like the sky
but that would be wrong –
To me, he existed before the sky
And only later did I notice the universe above
Because it resembled the man who held the sun in his hand

Have you ever met someone who was just so
Infinite
That when you tried to see the end of him you thought – maybe
You might shatter into dust
Become part of his endlessness and disappear amongst the rest
Of the rest of his never-ending galaxies existing beyond your comprehension

I reached out to touch this man today
And found him just beyond my reach
So palpable, so there, it burned
I could nearly touch the sun in his fingertips
But he raised his hand, and as the sun rose out of my reach
It floated amongst the clouds

And my world turned dark
He exhaled a frigid wind and blew out my stars
This wind howled and angered the clouds
Who dropped an icy vengeance on the ground beneath my feet
A thousand booming explosions as each shard made contact
With the earth I once knew

That day I thought the sky would fall
But that thought was, of course, foolish – that which is up never comes down
The sun burned brighter when it returned, wrapped in
                                                                                                       rainbows and promises
But I knew better than to reach out, or to hope.
Just to see was enough – just to know, for the time being,
That he was there
Something strange in the air flashed silver and red,
I jumped as a plane flew towards our building.
At that moment time moved in slow motion,
faces in the pilots' window looked unwilling.
I saw a man with arms widespread,
and another with hands in prayer.
Then the sober reality that everyone near me,
including myself, would soon be dead.
At that moment I felt no emotion
then everything sped up like a silent movie.
First I was jolted by a massive explosion,
then a ball of fire, and an ear-crushing scream.
The room ignited into a kaleidoscope painting,
then all I could remember was falling to my knees,
then dropping like a rock through chaos and commotion,
a flash of red light, then everything turned green.

Darkness
terrible darkness
I could feel no more,
I could not hear or see,
all I saw was blackness,
I could barely breathe.
Every breath was painful,
so very painful.
I am slipping into a dream,
no matter how hard I try
I can not speak,
I could only listen
to the faint sound,
the faint sound
of my last
heartbeat.

The tree’s don’t sleep at night

they photosynthesize , by moonlight.

Leaves drink in the cool wise light

And give off dreams of softly fading starlight

Whispers of secrets , monthly unfurl

A single blossom falls at new moon

Hurtling to the ground, awake before noon

Ever noticed? The very word has the circle

Curled up in the centre , twice to make sure we remember , two full cups , not one.

Geko’s slip off old skins

And the croaking frog adds to the din

As thunder rolls in

Triggering the dogs bark

Guardian of the stark naked couple

Asleep in their parallel worlds

Together under the umbrella of ambient lighting

Not the natural kind either

But a shameless copy of pure sunlight

That emenates when their bodies collide

On the material plane.

Astral visions lead the way to headquarters

The address? Fax? Phone number?

I’m afraid you’ll have to dial again ,

Unless you’ve meditated on the vibration of emancipation

Then you would already know, you are already there

Doors are open , for those who care to try

No lock on this baby ,

Ain’t no safe to play safe

We bask in our humble glory

Under the shores on undulating tides

Rhythmic pulsations

no where to hide

The emanations come from within,

Without , a shadow of a doubt

There is a war coming , infact we’ve already been fighting for decades

Just like the change of winds, nature knows her stuff

Tip the seeds too soon and you’ll end up with a field full of fluff

But just in time and a harvest with enough to reduce every super market shelf to dust

Even though they already stock that kinda stuff

Clean up on Aisle 4, Aisle 3 , Aisle 2 , Aisle 1

Return the purchase , we’ve discovered the ****

In the cake

And we found the frog in the salad,

At least their habitat is intact

Or did you think I was still talking about the shops?
