Not Really A Poem
LaNae Hughes Sep 2019
This isn't really a poem
more like a little rant
because I mean why not?

Why not tell complete strangers..
how ****** up I am

I lay awake at night
I swear they're all going to find me
and torture me and use my body just once more

I lay awake and think about the way that I love
and the way he does
and sometimes I cry
because his love looks fake...
and mine is everything that is left of me

Tired
LaNae Hughes Sep 2019
I am more exhausted than I care to admit
People don't worry anymore
I've gotten so good at hiding this..
this hinderance

I am more sad than I care to admit
mainly because I swear everyone is using me
and I'm tired of that too

I'm tired of love
I'm tired of happiness
I'm tired of being stuck
I'm tired of feelings

Love Yourself First
LaNae Hughes Mar 2018
We all want to be enough,
for the people around us,
for the ones we rarely see,

We want to feel accepted,
by the ones we love,
by the people we see,

We never stop to question,
that maybe we should be,
enough to ourselves,

We should be proud of ourselves,
unafraid to say that we know we got it,
tearing each other down should be something we hate,
yet we all do it anyway

Why not choose to love ourselves first,
then love someone else?
We're all looking like blinded fools,
and the Devil treats us like tools.
I don't really know
LaNae Hughes Mar 2018
We speak of Society,
like it is to blame,
and forget to remember,
that we are a part of this pain,

we continue to say the world is ugly,
and forget to say,
we're the one's who made it this way

we say we are the future,
that we need to make it better,
then tear each other down, like society,
we throw out our books,
and make the world ugly with their ashes

We are the Society that is cruel and killing,
We are the World that is dying and Ugly

-LaNae Nadia Hughes (02-26-2018)
This was written when I was told by a friend that I was beautiful and it was society who was ugly, it was the world who made us ugly.
