Muted expression
A songbird perched upon a winter pine
Alone.

Not a chirp
No songs of spring
Nothing but silence

Staring out towards the rising moon
Where we both tend to gaze
As if there's commonplace

Perhaps the bird doesn't sing
Because it's trapped in its own cage
