He was late but made there eventually

Head down plowed through

Starting with ones self respect
Left to chase the dream in the works
Came back to nothing only wiser
Emotional damage gaining strength
Expecting things to change
He grew mentally and physically
Everything remained the same

He saw her in his future clouded judgement
She had other plans went on without him
Everything he wanted with her
She did it with someone else
Sitting in the dark composing himself
Tomorrow will be a better day
Missing his family not taking on egos
Learned who not to be conflicted attitudes
Instead of being inspired to do better

He turned away not wanting to argue
Tired of fighting nothing changed
Put his down and focused on his work
Didn't want others to see him bad think less of him
He thought highly of those who knocked him
Going where he felt valued for himself
Instead of useless and unwelcomed
His opinion mattered actually heard
Not a place holder but belonging at the table

Things bugged so he didn't do it anymore
Now he feels to old to do anything
Trying to relax more to life than work
Changing up the routine no one to hang
Always on a different schedule
Hard to make plans no communication
He did his own thing tired of waiting
Feeling depressed it didn't happen right away
It made sense others didn't get it
Everyone confused didn't understand
Not given a fair chance just there
Excluded looking in not meant to stay
Pushing through rise to the next level

She told him why didn't you ever ask me out? He was puzzled and never knew that was an option. He didn't consider it since the guys she dated was nothing like him.
He didn't cross that boundary line. He didn't date close friends or within his circle of peers. He didn't date friends family members or exes of people he hung out with.
This would anger them and they would distance themselves. Mad holding a grudge if the friendship failed how could it be a relationship. He had a hard time opening up since his feelings would be used against him. Staying single because his emotions would get the best of him. Dating was fun at the beginning it was easier to get physical than get to know a person.

He put grew it having a brew taking in the scene. Out of place not sure where he belonged or fit in. He has a crush on the bartender but didn't make his move he wanted to be financially stable so he could match efforts. By the time he secured the job she ended up with someone else.
They talked she gave him relationship advice since he was single. He felt a connection but did miss his chance and moment. His love life was slim pickings as he got older. The dating pool is like a shallow puddle of mud.
Everyday he thought about it so many missed chances and opportunities. People had luggage personal issues and kids from a previous commitments that weighed them down.
He wanted to start a new with them but stuck on the old a head strong mind set that refused to change.

In his room writing letting it all out not holding on making room for things that matter. Focused on writing a book making jokes not taking life too serious.
His quit on the people that taunted him and brought out the worse in him. They cursed his name and thought less of him since he wasn't a follower. He'd rather do his own thing than be told what to do by peers who don't value him or his efforts.
