Love birds in the cage
At times  sage at times rage
Male enterprising Greenie , his name
Female whip smart,  Bluey , her name

It took me a little while to befriend the two
Never had a pet ,Other than a fish or two

Greenie was the one
Who made calls for the feed
Bluey made sure she was the first to eat

Greenie the chivalrous, would wait for his turn
Bluey ,always on a diet , quickly she ate
Greenie ate to his Heart's content

Together they would sing
And swung
On their little swing

Born in captivity
They had wings ,but never did they fly
Or
Maybe never did they try

Fly fly fly away... I'd say
Probably... Possibly ....
Never ....ever ...never they'd say

Happy in the cage ,with each other
They knew ,no other way
Love birds ,as they say
I had a pair of love birds in year 2016 , lovely they were , intelligent and lovable .
Lost them to a preying eagle , usually kept the cage outdoors during the day.
One afternoon as I left the cage outdoors ,as I was out for some work  , it was heartbreaking to see the two dead in the cage , on my return.
I could only imagine how valiantly greenie must have fought the eagle.
I do have another pair , got  one on my younger son's insistence, it was him who got the first pair as well .

******* is imagination
And the words
Crack the asphalt of the port
Like poppies. For the wind is gone.

And the sea must now sing alone
To the sunken city -
Underneath.

I can't hear
There's a darkness
everywhere

Spinning in circles
Drawing squares in the
air

Confusion reigns
while calmness soothes

Longing for the dawn
at night
Longing for the night
at dawn

Wanting to be alone
when together
Missing you every
second we're apart

At work watching
the clock
At home restless
not knowing what to do

There is a road
that goes
There is a home
that stays
I'm sure there's a way
Never heard them say -
it was easy being
human.

grumpy thumb
Comes a time when you surmise opportunity is ripe to dare a move
to allow fingers to do what they were meant to:
to reach and touch another's.
Or a hunch
those words often held
in check
have reached the point to breach
the dam of uncertainty
cos you can't hold 'em back.
Comes a time when there is certainty
in a feeling that there's
more to this than pleasantries,
and perceived fringes of opportunities.
Comes a time when you commit
those thoughts
and digets
and lips
to the lean
to the kiss
to the pathway
of least
resistance.

guy scutellaro
she walks prospect avenue in the rain.
dead eyes, sore feet
the flowers have wilted into
the shadows of acceptance.

she finds the corner
and the last light lit,
wants a match for her cigarette.

a ****** that has found her god.
a needle and a bed of thorns.

the beep from a car's horn,
so a customer waits,
swings open a rusty gate.

and when that door

slams

shut

the prisoner of light asks,

"where have all the flowers gone?
