A hole in the wall.
She wraps my fists.
No wonder, I fell for a girl with bandaged writs.
She tucks me in bed with her healing kiss.
She must get tired of living like this.
When daylight breaks, she wakes me up.
And pours fresh coffee in my favorite cup.
She's cleaned the blood from the bathroom stall.
But what will she do about the hole in the wall.
She drives me to anger management.
Where I'll tell them everything was an accident.
She's back again at Ten o'clock
without her car, holds my hand for the walk.
Apparently, I didn't want to talk.
She may have fixed the hole in the wall.
But what will she do with her broken jaw.
She looks around to see who saw.
It's just us
and no forgiveness left for her to withdraw.
She tucks me in bed with her sympathetic kiss.
She's finally done living like this.

again from the male's perspective.
Fingers like pieces
Puzzled together,
Like they were made
For the other's hands
Clasped together

Each not strong
Enough to hold
Themselves
Together,
They are

Side by side
Left close to right
Next to the other
Partner, partners
With, us, we, ours

Her wing stretches
Fifteen, maybe twenty
Feet, to either side
Again, by side
One wing each

Clouds sweep by
A jet, below, so slow
They grace, diving
Like a raptor
Then their wings

Switchblade
Out, zipping
Pulling, ripping
Them headlong
Out from the ground

Like a flower up, up, up
To the sun, to the sky
Back to the clouds
They were born
To explore

just sitting here
thinking about you
thinking about me thinking about you
thinking about us
what we gonna do
stay apart
stay true
Take a moment
and look at your hands.
look at the lines
more creases and folds than a dismantled paper airplane
you can look into hands and see the future
those creases read like a map
and in the distance between your fingers lies a novel.
With fingers intertwined you can pray
and you can love.
you can beckon melodies from the belly of pianos
and scrawl poetry on shredded napkins
you can punch and scratch and fight
you can revolt
you can deliver Shakespeare
you can place blame
and you can nurture
you can wave hello
and you can wave goodbye
but remember they are the same motion
wiggle your fingers
count them
10
a perfect round number
take a look at the miraculous work of art at the end of your wrists
put them to use
embrace
high five
fist bump
use them to make art
dance
music
fight injustice
celebrate your victories
and help those around you.
with those two hands and ten fingers
the world is yours.

take a moment and look at your hands
and notice how you don't need a mirror to see yourself.
I wonder
If I'll ever be unhappy without you
I don't think I will
But what if I was?

What if
One day
I cease to remember
Just how elegantly you fell away;

Slowly and gracefully
So that I knew it was happening
But I really didn't
And I still had so much love in my heart,
My heart which ached
When you were too far to receive my love
And when it hurt like that,
That's when I knew
How well you had abandoned me

So if I forget that,
Then, I'll be left
With nights of love by the sea,
By the fire,
In fields and with friends
And
Hidden love letters in books,
Under mattresses,
In enchanted forests,
Faded and crinkled
From the exhausting spirit of new found love

If that's all I can remember
I can imagine
Being unhappy without you

I suppose I am unhappy now
But not because I am without you,
Just because
You made me a scrapbook of love
With no one to share it with me.
