I am a bud flowering,
I just can't wait to be King!
The harvest moon rising
Can only mean one thing;

Dopamine's in flow
While you're rising from the blow--
Hey wait, No, Don't you go!--
Revel in the Crash and Glow.

Put your demons to bed
Like thy're no better than zed--
And don't fear to be led,
Because sometimes you're better off dead.

Connie Buchan
You were one of the first to teach me about value.
You helped me gain independence, little by little.
I shared my desires with you and you helped me to fulfill them.
Sometimes I needed just that little bit more and there you were,
Ready to pitch in and help out.

I remember a smile breaking onto my face with the very glimpse of you,
Your shining face gleaming at me from afar.
Sometimes those you thought were your friends would just toss you away,
But not me, not ever.
I cherish you for everything you are worth and then some.

You have always been unique, different than all the rest I would come across.
You have your own look.
Yes, you may look similar to others in one way,
But with a quick flip you are shining again like only you can.
Time may tarnish your gleam, but no matter how rugged you get you will always be of worth.

Special childhood moments come back to me now.
Holding you in my sweaty little palm, I would fill with excitement
Knowing you were about to deliver to me the sweetness of my dreams.
All I needed was you and maybe a few more of your friends.
And off we’d go to spend a Saturday afternoon in delightful company.

Seniors would push you away, unwanted, undervalued.
They would take one quick glance to see if they recognized you.
Then they would pass you on to a youngster,
As if they had far too much of you to care for more.
But not me, I would swoop you up and run off, delighted.

Now you are to be no more. No replacements.
You will be allowed to discolour and erode with age as so many of your ancestors have done.
But to me, you will always be the highly valued shining copper penny
Who taught me to count, to value goals and how to use money to attain some of them.
And most importantly, how to take the first steps towards my independence.
Did I have you thinking?
Canada retired the penny just a while ago and I miss him. :-)

Helen
she hears every word
as music
and every emotion
is a dance
her laughter
is a spring breeze
on a hot day
there are no
obstacles in life
every blocked path
is a chance

to see what's on the other side

tears are releasing fears
dripping like diamonds
from sapphire eyes
she scoops them up
and tucks them into
her pocket
because her locket
is full
of her heart
she sees no negativity
just a clearer sunset
as her eyes dry

her poetry, childishly written
pours from an old soul
it speaks of beauty
and emotion
Jealousy, Friendships
Love and Unhappiness
Joy, Comfort
and a sense of Home

she'll always skips
instead of walking
because
"It's a funner way
to get from B to A"

she'll twirl in circles
if she's been standing still
too long
because
"It's boring standing still
all day"

When she is smiling
I know all is right
in her world
When she cries
it's heartbreaking
But she knows
she knows
she can line her pockets
full of diamonds
and open her locket
to find a Pearl
She's 10 :)

Vivian Miller
She had bruises running up the back of her knees
They were from the beggars and losers clawing at her lying in the streets
She wore a corset to keep from falling apart
She used butter on her hands because her skin was made of bark
But she was soft
Soft spoken and kind
She was young, though her face was lined
She navigated her way around the mess of broken souls
She walked fast as if walking on hot coals
When she made it to the march she changed into black
The protestors proceeded avoiding every crack
In the road rode the army
On horses made of steel
They were called to stumble over those who were denied a last meal
On a dark street those dressed in black
Met the army, their horses shoes met pavement with a smack
She slid to the back of the line because she wasn't bullet proof
A sign slapped the side of her face, on it was written the truth
Though she was surrounded by tall men with top hats on their heads
For whatever reason with the first shot she lay dead

Future?

The narrow path of heading nowhere
leads me back to the rhetorical
In a place where being yourself is mediocre
How do you find concrete?
How do you find the strong blocks that make the future
if your future is based on other people?
raw emotions are my flaw
I feel too much and hurt you all

Born of Gold
How is life on lsd?
Well come on this trip with me.
Drugs are bad kids, they open your mind.
They allow you to reason, and see through the lies,
Losing reality, achieving duality,
The effects might be harsh, cause abnormalities.
Seeing your world and life differently,
Flowing through your brain so quick so swiftly.
When your eyes dilate, you no longer procrastinate
You get to pick between reality and your inner state.
Seeing that the small things are what matter,
Satisfying our thirst, for knowledge over matter.
Because on drugs you might enjoy walking,
You might enjoy smelling the grass or even talking
Expressing your mind, reasoning a thought,
And not being a cynics narcissist while you internally rot.
The experience on it impairs your mind,
And may leave you always behind
Behind with love, adventure, and discovery
Instead of hate, restrictions and agony.
But drugs are bad kids don’t take my advice,
the commoner lowlifes like us will someday pay the price.
The price of thinking differently, and enjoying life,
Walk this amazing world, with no need for strife.
Drugs impair your mind kids they do,
but what happens during them only chances what’s inside of you…

Say what you want
Do you what you feel
temptation is the motivation
and the motive is tempting

It starts with the thought
and you think it's harmless
that it just goes  away
never to come back, but you're wrong.

It lingers,
skips around in circles inside your head
it toys with you, taunting you
to act upon it, it dares you.

Resist, you try
Fight, you may
Tame it, you can attempt it
but failure is imminent

It's the sweetest lullabye
the catchiest hook
the sexiest opposite ***
the most tempting fruit

It's automatic to want something forbidden
However, do i indulge it ?
Do I dive in?
yes, no, maybe. possibilities swirl around. the cycle is thoughtless. unforgiving.

It's the question that makes us think
the temptation that drives us to the brink
the possibilities that make us walk to the edge
and the conclusion that either makes us turn away or dive in.
