That time again
Leaves have fallen
Gathered and clustered
Curled in lane corners their
Lifeless backs to the curb
Still too slape
And limp to crunch
Lying and waiting as
Winter creeps closer
Night by night
In the darkening months.

SILENCE IS FASTER GOING BACKWARDS

He stepped outside
of himself.

Closed the door
of reality

behind him
with a sharp short click.

"Where had the time gone?"
he asked of a mirror.

"There is no time here!"
answered the reflection.

"So this is...eternity?"
he heard his thought say.

He took another step
left behind this world of flesh.

Here, where
not even memory

...persists.

these won't leave scars

autumn
it's time to hide under long sleeves

I use a permanent red marker
hoping no one takes a peek

I soak up the ink
waiting for my skin to dry

I know how to hide
I let them underestimate me

I let them control me
so I can learn the way

sometimes I have more power
than them
doing what they say

don't underestimate my lies
the bigger the line
I feel fine

Through the forest of trees from your lips

   I can read your unspoken words.

       As each leaf falls

   the view becomes much more clear.

       Words that once reverberated through the forest

   seem as lifeless as the fallen leaves at my feet.

        I await a rush of fresh air

    to stir and animate the dead silence around me.
