When love calls you
You complain
Strained and straight to bed
We forget the end
It's a random affair
We often end up in
If you lend me your mouth
I’ll keep it close at hand
And if you’re ever down south
I’ll show you the promised land
Your heart is the church
I alone worship in the sand
Your eyes are worth
A thousand emeralds
Gold and silver bracelets and bangles
Held up against your makeup
We can no longer fake it
So we take it home
With us instead
We are being destroyed by advertising
We are like broken pieces of cardboard
Our astral faces are printed on the backs
Of empty milk cartons tossed into the ethers
Fed on scarcity and internet dreams of modeling
With broken hopes we spend our lives meandering
Yet we are fooling ourselves and others
Our barnyards are empty
Can we trust our hearts more than our apathy
Plenty of people are dying young and lonely
These falling arrows following their own trajectories
I seethe with anger at this ineffable insanity
I say f@#! it anyway
Have you ever wondered why our ancestors didn’t sleep
While you take my fingers and bend them beneath you

Jettison the weapons
Of everlasting happiness
We are sentimental accidents
******* the equators
And salivating waiters
We assume we are alone but it's a foolish hope
Instead we resent your intangible laughter
Stand against the rafters
We are dreaming of liberation
Still we are shaking in our dressing rooms
Like confused teenagers
Who eat alligator mustard
Those salty incubation periods
Where we swallowed buckets of sadness
Like mouthfuls of burnt toast
This soap is soft and bubbly
And now we get lost
In our own homes on the daily
These poems speak to us softly
Yet you seek what is costly
I need nothing that i don’t already own

Love is a poem
So remember the phone-calls you made
Yesterday's sunrise fell on our faces
And we hid against the windy tides
Those retired auto dealers
And our ancient healers are weeping
They're just about ready to sell you their souls
Hungry eyes are torn from borrowed books
We look inside our minds and find emptiness on hooks
Gyrating lions drunk on mescal
Flex their muscles and sell me all your secrets
Handheld pliers long to pull your teeth
While we fall asleep in each other's bodies

I resolve to give up poetry
To release the need to feel or think
I resolve to heal and smile daily
I resolve to become real for you
I resolve to do anything you want me to
I am really evolving rapidly over here
I resolve to struggle
Like you taught me to, for long ago
We kissed and i resolved to tell you
That your resolve is a bunch of worthless B.S.
If you have no will or follow through
Prismatic angles
Strangulate our language
We are all fragile bubbles
Being blown through plastic circles
Straws scattered in the water
Sort out your problems
And follow your vision
We are all brothers and sisters
Drowning in this fish-tank (of wisdom) together
We are shaking our shoulders
To the sounds of roller coasters
Boiling potatoes in the heat of our basements
Considering the upcoming refrigerations
We are already doing quite amazing
