forward
I have to feel
  this moment
as it throbs  with life
cannot  take
a step or two back
without colliding
full throttle
into  a sad void
of hazy days gone by.
Written in 06 or 07 , finished today.Grabbing my future  with two hands   after  tragedy  , was  something I had to force myself to do.Try not to live in yesterday.Appreciate  the  present  and  future  , because  I can.Not everyone  has  this luxury to be alive ....

This morn
freshly purchased
provisions
called my name
Cravings
swiftly soured
as all hands
came up empty
multiple theories
Extrapolate
the likelihood
that they
didn’t walk away
Alone
Sharing a fridge  can be a tricky proposition.Family or not !

My garden gnomes
continue to groan
as weeds
climb up
their hineys
Yup, I own gnomes. They brighten up any green patch, but tend to  be    whiners  it seems....

packets of pleasure
all wrapped and pretty
whisper sweet
everything
worried moments
swept away
with savory promises
a hollow stomach
or aching heart
fills just a little
beguiling morsels
cocktail conversation
at the bottom of
this  tray or another
lies sweet salvation
if only for tonight
tomorrow
the party’s over
all  goes back
to pumpkins, mice
and gruel  .

pollute
every inch of window space
no room for shadows
moon glow a no show
pull my eyelids tight
yank the plastic shades
as far as they’ll go
to lay down my fears
for the night.
a bit of a rhyme scheme there ...not intentional either.Written in 2007 , rental home  in Massachusetts  right behind a Buick dealership.Fluorescent signs   totally  lit  the back side  of our house  porch, laundry area, dining room  , living room and  my bedroom !

every waking thought
fueled by
juicy   strawberries
not from distant lands
stalked by native asparagus
signs on empty spots
indicate to our dismay
the farmer’s market
Gone away
for this week
dejected  we head home
desires  unmet
with crumpled  canvas totes
in  unhappy hands.
Love farmer's markets.Local produce rocks.

Nothing
visibly stamped
on my body
“Use By”
but I know
somewhere in the ether
a time is prescribed
I’m not a carton
of sour cream
that’s true
I am in danger
of disappearing
as are you.

I think the dust bunnies
hate me
and play their evil games
in my cozy home
Vengeance is coming
wee gray ones,
a maniacal laugh
escapes from my face
as the ******* hose of doom
descends
upon their kingdom.
Take that  dirt !

In Paradise
A bird of paradise  plant in a corner of  our  backyard in the burbs of Houston. One day my daughter and I noticed  a bunch of  mice  swinging  all over  the   flowers ! Out of my warped mind came this  cracked poem.I read this at a poetry reading ( and brought the  picture for afterward ) and   got  a  great  review  for my style  of  reporting  the  incident !
