Unnoticed
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
There's beauty in the latent
I will wait, I will be patient
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Time is but a metaphor
           nothing exists but the now
           silence banishes every error
           tranquillity rests on the brow-

          the non-attaching, the non-wishing
the self  in deepest peace it does anchor
how abundance does abound in nothing
the rose in bud knows when it should flower

Follow the natural
not the artificial
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
...then an opening
without ending
you alone will hear
the divine song as you draw near

in that state of oblivion
all sorrows are forgotten
in the bliss of silence
love blooms in refulgence

A Moral Death
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
It will be easy to repeat
we'd then suspend thinking
the mind is like a mint
currency it would continue printing

such addicted by time compounded
we hardly know the essence of living
night follows day is all we believe in
the persistent grind leads to moral dying.

Awakening
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Still the same as ever before
the over-played and too weary song
memory grinds in subconscious grooves
to the past feelings stubbornly belong

no,  I'll sing such no more
as the silent moments come along
my heart should remake itself
my love shall do no wrong.

A Silly Love--Poem
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Why do lovers
love songs that are sad?
the latter are but spoilers
surely love should bend towards the glad.
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
I could give up time
but not you, oh never!
every kiss shall be sublime
oh, don't you leave me ever!

Legacy
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Think not of legacy
    just live, just be!
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
If you listen in silence
as each star dies*
you would sense at once
the message in my eyes

for our love is more steadfast-
were all the stars  should starve to demise
a message would be written in the sky
' love is life's most glorious prize'

stars they have feelings too
in loneliness each does melt in cries
the years have wearied them
they have known a million sighs

walk with me tonight by the shore
lend me your heart and your eyes
each kiss we share is better than that before
it will stay in our lips up to sunrise.

Kindness
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
The unkindness that marks ten
is obliterated by the kindness of one
    life's darkness is then dispelled
it brings glory to the waiting sun
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
The 'maybe' belongs
    to your unyielding heart
    you bade farewell
    love you tore apart-

     'maybe' is your childish excuse
     a well-crafted devious art
the betrayal is written in your very  eyes
I am glad you did depart.

Inspired by Mountain Sonata
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Sleep escapes me tonight, I don't know why
through my window at the trembling stars I gaze
music as a sombre Schubertian sonata drifts
from the distant mountain-- I drift into a daze--

      memory revives-- past love
resurrects of its accord-- her face
before me appears as in a strange dream
how could I forget the first kiss's taste?

The Perpetual Cynic (71)
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
I was enraptured
by Chopin's music
my heart it melted
I felt lovesick

you sat at the same row
you gave me a look, furtive and quick
something within me did grow
its message seemed to *****

'twas not love but fancy
which seemed to do the trick
music added mystery
to the heart- into my emotions it began to dig

soon over was the show
you gave me a smile with nothing said
your steps I wanted to follow
but I was too shy and afraid!

My Worst 2020 Poem
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Home is where the stomach is
never a meal does it ever wish to miss
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
In suffering,  every part of our being is crucified
and we live as though in eternal darkness, a state that is beyond words to describe; a crippling sense that is far beyond despair and hopelessness;  we are caged in and cannot escape into freedom; life is denied to us;  all meaning and purpose is irretrievably lost and there is nothing that could redeem us.

This is the most critical moment in the life of a writer or any artist---can he rise from the ruins of his suffering or would he drown himself in the sea of eternal oblivion?
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Poetry is sanctity and religion
it permeates the heart's deepest region
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
The poet is moved
    less by joy than sorrow
    he treads on sanctified soil
his poetry's beauty then begins to glow
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Keats suffered beyond endurance
when he suffered in silence more
the richest poetry woke from his pain
heavenly words they began to ceaselessly pour
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
In many starved moments
when you aren't ready
neither feeling or thought
would visit---forget about writing poetry.
Dr Peter Lim Aug 2020
Be glad when
you stop short
in negotiation with words
you're treading on the right spot
