I follow the echoes
That make the hallway glow
And give my pace speed
To near a never end.
Voices deceive
Faces undulate
But the friction beneath my feet
Will never stop my race

be soft they say
find the wool
knit by your grandmama
and remember its caress
warm across your infant skin
why do my calloused palms
avoid the embrace of
pillowing knit blankets
when I only sleep
in beds of collected rock

as soon as i found
the rose colored words
to reinforce my third eye
it was as if my head
then rested upon a pillow
so soft
a luscious home
foreign
but warm
and i quickly recalled
my wood batten bed
that creaked and woke
the neighbors
and bent my neck
so i could only see out
the one corner of my eye

i’m not the only of yours
fighting the battle
and plotting to desert
but i’m the one shot to the heart
unable to run
so your gaze returns
to the one at the border
whom you run after
while i lay bleeding

I'm chasing my old me
because the future days
are never the good ol’

I'm wasting what my youth
claims have been told
where I can't escape the threat
of what tomorrow holds
and what the younger me brought
but yesterday's me forgot

I fear endings
by the looming darkness
that holds me hostage in the web of infinity
which can suffocate me whole as I search for the release
in the presence of now
with the presence of you
