Up in Smoke
DieingEmbers Mar 2012
without wings she arose...

Virginal in white
casting shadows on my heart,
for like smoke I could not hold her
she writhed between my trembling fingers
Leaving her scent upon me.
Sometimes what the heart wants the hands can't hold

Paris in the Fall
DieingEmbers Mar 2012
Faded photogragh
in a worn out frame
smiles back at me
from yesteryear,
when we were young
and oh so foolish
planning our retirements
at twenty two.
I swore we'd take a cruise
see parish in the fall

but then...

Alcohol and diesel fumes
screech of brakes
a scream.

White gown without a veil
bouquet in a cheap glass vase
and your mothers tears.

Faded eyes
in a worn out face
stare back at me
from somewhere nowhere...

Sleep now my love

dream now my love

and I will meet you in Paris

in the fall.

You lay sleeping upon my arm
your hair

your warm breath
re-writing old messages
with fresh

My life reformed forever
in this quiet moment alone
watching you sleep

All I Have Are Words
DieingEmbers Mar 2012
I sit holding my knees
head resting
on folded arms,
watching the waves break
gently over my
naked feet.
The sand warm
runs a way down the beach
in my footsteps
back to where she lays sleeping,
still dreaming images
painted upon the canvas of the heart...
slowly beating
beneath her rhythmic breast.
I had to come away
I could not bear to gaze to long
upon her beauty
for fear I too
was only dreaming.
For how could she love me
how could she
when I have nothing to offer her...

but these my words.

Buttercups and Daisies
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
You playfully
tease your hair
back over your ears
and smile that bubblegum smile,
your tongue
in the corner of your mouth
you're thinking...

a penny for them I say
you laugh
and turn away blushing.

I reach for you
but pause
taking time to take you in...

breathing you in
upon a floral scented breeze

your hair is buttercups and daisies
tied in poesies
with chocolate box ribbons

your summer dress is dreamtime
sewn anew
from bedroom curtains

your bare feet freedom and frivolity
nails painted green
poking fun at conformity

and you...

You are mine as much as a man can own the wind
or tame the wild mountain river

but you are mine
and I...

I am yours until such time as you no longer love me.

The Darkness This Way Comes
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
Tiny feet
scrabble across my mind
leaving footprints
in my subconscious thoughts
they perturb me
a warning
the darkness this way comes
haze at the edge of vision
blind sides me
with a sucker punch
as I go down
the meds forget to catch me
as I hit rock bottom
hard
and fast
spirralling in desperation
treading water
in my own pooling tears
drowning...

once twice I sink
with no hand to rescue me
no lifeline given.

Where is the light at the end of tunnel vision
where is the hope in hopelessness
why can I not just
let go inhaling salt into weary lungs
and sleep
Depressed and I guess it shows

Beneath A Lightbulb Moon
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
He sails a sauce pan in the sink
a mast made from a spoon,
and maps his ocean black as ink
beneath a light bulb moon.

He is searching for the islands
that they call the ***** Plates,
with golden beach of breadcrumb sands
beyond the Gravy Straits.

Where macaroni dolphins leap
beyond French Fries Lagoon,
and sing their songs as sailors sleep
beneath a light bulb moon.

Beware the corn cob crocodiles
that lurk beneath the foam,
betraying folks with welcome smiles
within their bone strewn home.

He navigates the boiling oil
and safely through the ice,
to find a place to hide his spoil
away from other mice.

So island claimed x marks the spot
his sailing days at end,
and I at last wash up my pots
that so amused our friend.

Sticky Peach ( adult )
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
Sweet dreams of you
sweat drenched
scented by natural perfumes
overload my senses
as I again inhale you...

breathing you in with open mouth
tasting the warmth of kisses
from muted swollen lips.

Tongue seeking to give you voice
as sighs erupt into pleasures moans...

Back contorts
consorting with my fingers
tracing curves
wet from my touch.

Your hand gives me the heads up
and down
and up again
tongue lapping liguid kisses
teasing with tip
further scent from swollen bud...

your nails rake my shoulders
as you buck
an unbroken mare
fighting the bit
yet bit you were and nibbled grazed
teeth tentatively tugging
fleshy folds
as rivulets of passion coated my chin.

Sticky from your peach
I rise and share with you the taste
in our first oral kiss.

Lakeside Lovers
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
The moon reflects soft
it's rays flowing
in stone thrown ripples
as I await this night
your touch.

The stars caught
in dew sodden cobwebs
shift position
in late evenings breath.

A twig breaks
a bird startled from rest arises
kissing tree tops
in open armed embrace.

And you where are you
amongst all this beauty
if not in my arms
you are always in my heart.

Hands blind my eyes
in whispered guess who
from breathy lips
and I silently smile my answer.

My hands upon yours
hold you there a moment to long
my heart aches my lips plead
and I turn expectant of your kiss.

Your smile frames your sweet mouth
pressed hard to mine
words lost in translation
of I love yous from occupied tongues.

Night falls in solitude of silent pines
their needles sewn blankets
of fresh crisp snow
where now I have my angel.

Michigan moon
how I envy you...

To spend each night with her
soft reflected in her eyes,

you see all...

You are the highlights in her hair
the light flush upon her cheek

you are the smile she flashes a friend
and you are there

you see all...

You are the slice of lemon in her drink
the comfort see seeks on sleepless night
you are memories of childhood

you see all...

Michigan moon
forgive me my envious nature

show to me but once her smile
that I too may bask in it's natural beauty

and pray

Let me see all.

When I kissed you
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
The breeze has stilled
the lake is calm,
the glasses filled
with liquid balm.

We toast the moon
and thank the night,
for space to spoon
by natural light.

You sip your wine
and let it spill,
I make it mine
and drink my fill.

From lips and chin
and proffered neck,
you draw me in
to taste each speck.

Your eyes are wide
they catch the stars,
a mayday bride
whom ums and hars.

I seek your kiss
and tongue your tongue,
savouring bliss
so sweet and strong.

Wine bubbles burst
in untouched glass,
as still we lay
upon wet grass.

A picnic planned
a meal for two,
got out of hand
when I kissed you.

I am made a peeping tom
a voyuer
shunned by moon and stars

the darkness enshrouds my form
a cloak
to hide my tears and scars

your image danced I fained away
afraid
the shadows mask my fear

the curtains drawn the night light dimmed
dowsing me
as I stand alone knowing you're near

I turn to leave and kiss the breeze
with hope
that your open window will receive

for as Romeo I am undone
no Juliet
to share this love and so I leave

I am made a peeping tom
a voyuer
a lover lost to late night needs

so if er' you need a friend
a lover
know soft a heart for you here bleeds

The Cardboard Courtyard
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
Curtain up on cardboard courtyard, spotlight moon frames first figure seated

Logeverchy ~ Ache not solemn heart for solitude of beat tears night asunder,
leaving my breast a hollow soul, as I alone am left to wonder.
Wait whom skulks in shadows midst and pry's on secret pain,
come hither phantom make intention known or as my heart be slain.

Vanalausch ~ Tis I my lord your honoured bondsman see my hand a letter,
scented with a hint of promise, from the Maiden of Valetta.

Logeverchy ~ Can it be nay be away foul night vapours of fetid cheese
and with your words and false hopes another may ye tease.
oh if but for a chance halt, again to me and may in truth
Thy proffered offering give unto doubtful mind unreputed proof.

Curtain falls and again rises on silk draped bed chamber where a maid attends her lady

Anvibility ~ If er' heaven blest so sweet a union let it be this night
and may his heart on feathered wings be given up to flight.

Nuxominal ~ Hush lest your words meet with unwelcome ears
and give voice to tongue to speak aloud my fears.
Hast thou not heard the footfalls upon yonder stair,
I know not what evil deed awaits my true love there.

Anvibility ~ I will away and light a lamp and place it by the door,
if only now to settle thee and to guide to thee amour.

Curtain closes and reopens painted canvas corridor with candle flickering

Logeverchy ~ Be it ever thus that so simple a light could herald me such hope
for two in stolen moments steal away and into night elope.

Door is opened by Anvibility and Logeverchy enters bed chamber as Nuxominal looks up

Anvibility ~ Harken my words and be away let not this moment bind you,
the horses and provisions wait lest now her father find you.

exit stage left lights fade curtain falls and all is quiet..

Weather Worn Rocking Chairs
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
Out upon the porch they sit
weather worn
freshly painted White
by winter snow,

silently they await the coming spring
and the added
warmth of company.

Where we will rest ourselves within their arms
as you share with me
Southern hospitality
in a glass of home made lemonade.

The night time breeze
wafts the scent of early buds
and apple pie
cooling upon the kitchen cill.

Falling stars
that once graced the
heavens with their beauty
fade into darkness
in comparrison with your eyes.

I smile
happy just to steal a few extra moments
from the busy day
to be alone with you and you alone

my love.

An American soldier walks into a shelled ruin to find a young girl huddled in a darkened corner, her hands covering her face, she is shaking.

Soldier ~ How Amongst this war torn masonry,
could Grow so fair a desert flower.
That hides so soft her eyes from me,
but yet steals from me the very power.
To reason love amidst this scenery,
as I ashamed now turn and cower.

She looks up and on seeing his uncertainty and gentle face finds herself drawn to him.

Girl ~      By what star was this night born,
that alights on so silent a step.
Adorning this dark with love not scorn,
and into my heart so softly crept.
Doth now my soul such thoughts adorn,
as through his eyes such sorrow wept.

They look at one another as the sound of automatic gunfire shatters the silence...

Soldier ~ If I could but steal one solitary hour,
and thus pluck it out of time.
Wouldst I not share it with this flower,
that has so ataken this hard heart of mine.

Girl ~      If I could but steal one unashamed look,
and seal this chance meeting with a kiss.
But for this war we are unstuck,
and never may we share such bliss.

Soldiers screaming orders and receiving commands.

Radio ~   Romeo Juliet 121 where are you,
let fly the shells that rend this night.
             and burn surrounding building too,
leave no cover from which for them to fight.

The soldier turns and runs out casting one final look over his shoulder towards her, she stands and walks to the doorway speaking.

Girl ~      May whatever God you pray to keep you,
and May he safe your journey be.
So when at last this madness through,
he leads you back to be with me.

Soldier ~ May whatever God you pray to guard you,
and keep you safe from hatreds eyes.
That come a time when we're unbound,
He let's us love without disguise.

The radio crackles into life orders are screamed and a shell whistles over the soldiers head, striking the second floor of her home causing the roof to collaspe.
He turns and screams running toward the smoke and dust billowing from the open doorway...

Soldier ~ What hell hath such disdain to break a heart,
With mortar shell and racial hate.
Imprisoning my soul now ripped apart,
amidst the sands of this ****** state.

He falls to his knees, rifle **** driven into the ground..

Soldier ~ Then let me here atone this crime,
ending this ache within my beating chest.
For without your love what use is time,
when by your side I seek to rest.

He pulls his trigger and falls over slowly hitting the ground as she appears through the smoke coughing, she sees him and runs to crouch down by his side stroking his bloodied face..

Girl ~      In suicide are we both ******,
and hell will own here our mortal soul.
But just to be once held soft within your hand,
would I suffer all to be made whole.

His knife in her hand she closes her eyes and thrusts deep into her Breast, falling limp across his body and in death knows his touch.

Sergent ~ Why when all men are brothers,
do we scar both heart and earth.
Feel humbled by the sight of lovers,
who knew that war attains not worth,
Killing the sons of faceless mothers,
that mourn now the life that they gave birth.

He walks away head bowed, other grunts gather around the couple and stare uncertainly at what transpired as love conquered death and cast doubts amongst the living.

I Will Not Eat My Greens
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
I will not eat my greens

Oh Mummy please, don't serve me peas,
they make my tummy sad.
I hate the smell and taste as well,
just give my share to Dad.

Oh Mummy no, those sprouts must go,
they make my tummy hurt.
Even the cat, would not touch that,
and she eats bugs and dirt.

Oh Mummy stop, not carrot top,
it makes my tummy squirm.
for they are found beneath the ground,
with Mr Wiggly Worm.

Oh Mummy shoot, now comes the fruit,
that makes my tummy sore.
apples and pears cut up in squares,
oh please I beg no more.

Oh Mummy why, do you so try,
to make my tummy sick.
With carrot cake you often bake
because you say it's quick.

Oh Mummy cease, please give me peace,
and leave my tummy be.
So serve my plate, oh Mummy wait
there's nothing here for me.

Oh Mummy please, can I have peas
I heard my tummy cry.
Pile on the veg, right to the edge,
I will of each now try.

Oh Mummy yes, I've made a mess,
but look my tummy ate.
All that you made and was afraid,
I would leave on my plate.

So Mummy dear, I really fear,
my tummy will now burst.
I need a rest but let me test,
that yummy pudding first.

Pained Glassy Stare
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
I gaze into your windows
hoping to catch
a glimpse of you
naked
open,
yet all I see
is my own reflection
staring back
at me.

Let me in I beg
don't close me out
when all I want is to love you

the real you

the you behind the pained glassy stare
afraid to let me see
you naked
laid bare
open to my touch

I gaze once more into your windows
as the blinds come down
condensation runs
over the soft flaking paint
and I sigh

I could dry those eyes
if they would but see me
as I am
a voyuer at her window
looking in
whilst looking out
for just a chance to tell her

how I feel.

Looking For A Friend
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
Today I set off walking from home to highways end,
not minding wind and weather in my search to find a friend.
I saw the sun arising and I saw it as it set,
and still I keep on walking as my friend as yet unmet.
I found a young girl crying leaving puddles on the ground,
so I bid her walk beside me as for yet my friend unfound.
We saw a man so nervous that he quickly tried to hide,
but together we encouraged him to come walk by our side.
A woman possessed by demons that doubted her self worth,
was the next to join our party as we walked this pleasant earth.
Children in need of guidence and adults that lost their way,
slowly joined our gathering as we searched both night and day.
Young and old of many colours many creeds and different faiths,
made up our growing numbers of the long forgotten waifs.
Well we lifted up the fallen and we carried the sick and lame,
and searched as one together for the one for which I came.
We gathered to us safely the mute the deaf the blind,
and held their hands to lead them for not one was left behind.
So although I searched in ernest my friend was never found,
for a friend is but a stranger that you've yet to invite round.
Remember then whilst walking in an unfamiliar place,
that the person that you meet next could be wearing a sad face.
It would only take a moment to change it to a smile,
and maybe you can join us as we walk the golden mile.

Harry The Hippopotamus
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
Harry the Hippopotamus,
thought to himself one day.
I need a change of scenery,
so I will move away.

So up he got and slow did trot,
toward the setting sun.
Whistling a tune beneath the moon,
he thought this will be fun.

He left his land via burning sand,
where camels loved to roam.
But could not shake this inner ache,
that spoke to him of home.

No shade for him nor chance to swim,
no wallowing in mud.
No fruit to eat so soft and sweet
with friends within the wood.

He stood to think as skies turned pink,
and scented breezes blew.
Shaking his head, he loudly said,
my home I'm missing you.

He turned around and there he found,
no footsteps to be seen.
Alas, alack, there's no way back,
oh what a fool I've been.

I had it all at beck and call,
now all I have is sand.
Now what I need are friends indeed,
to lend a helping hand.

I know he said, I need to head,
to where the sun will rise.
So off he set full of regret,
the sunlight in his eyes.

I'm there he cried as home he spied,
and all his friends at play.
So glad to see, him home safely
after his holiday.

Monster Beneath The Bed
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
The Slobber Mouth lives deep down south,
hunting the Ner' do wells.
with candy canes and wooden trains,
with buzzers and with bells.

With fur of green, that's never clean,
and eyes so big and red.
Four filthy paws with unclipped claws,
he fills the woods with dread.

Spiked tail and horns and teeth like thorns,
fixed in a scarey smile.
A ******* nose and ragged clothes,
make up his unique style.

Baiting his traps with midday naps,
false promises and lies.
with wasted hours and April showers,
and soft spoke lullabyes.

Dust bunnies hop but never stop,
and never are they caught.
For they are wise to slobbers lies,
and all the gifts he's brought.

The Mites and Motes in winter coats,
so quickly scurry by.
for they too know never to go,
where Slobbers presents lie.

The feather bed floats over head,
the carpet thick with fluff.
He stamps his feet knowing he's beat
and screams enoughs enough.

He packs his sock and checks the clock,
so soon the house will rise.
Stomping away to sleep all day,
and hide from prying eyes.

Beneath your bed this sleepy head,
sits down to scheme and plan.
Tomorrow night if all goes right,
I'll catch the Bogeyman.

On tippy toes in bedtime clothes,
his teddy in his hand.
He waves goodnight to all in sight,
and leaves for faery lands.

The Bubble Dragons
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
There is a land called Wash Rag Bay,
where the Bubble Dragons roam.
In search of sponge on which to lay,
and feast on shaving foam.

A cake of soap with toothpaste cream,
all sliced up on their plate.
Is more than they could wish or dream,
as they can hardly wait.

A jelly made from styling gel,
with mousse around the base.
For how they love the sight and smell,
and most of all the taste.

With gravy made from aftershave,
for roasted rubber duck.
A dish for which they often crave,
and beg for from their cook

The party now is in full swing,
with fun new games to play.
Like pass the parcel tied with string,
charades and Simon Say.

They danced in circles on the beach,
upon bath crystal sand.
there breathing deep the scent of peach,
in this their faery land.

The dinner bell rang out to say,
that it was time to eat.
And all the Dragons cried " Hurray,
this day cannot be beat ! "

With the Shampoo Cola flowing,
to toast the birthday girl.
As beneath the stars a-glowing,
we leave this special world.

Oh Where Is My Teddy Bear?
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
"Time now for bed" My Mummy said,
as we climbed up the stair.
Now in you get and don't forget,
to take your teddy bear.

But look and see, he's not with me,
not since this afternoon.
And it is late, well after eight,
we need to find him soon.

Oh maybe there, upon the chair,
or here beneath my bed.
He may be stuck, please take a look,
and check for Mr Ted?

I wonder if he's tricking me,
by hiding in my drawer.
No Mister Bear is not in there,
we need to search some more.

Please feel that lump, that bear shaped bump,
there halfway down the sheet.
That's not his nose, those are my toes,
upon my little feet.

It's late at night, I'm tucked up tight,
my pillow soft and deep.
But at days end, without my friend,
I feel I cannot sleep.

Just look once more, behind the door,
for we were playing there.
You clever child, My mummy smiled,
you've found your teddy bear.

So time for bed, for me and ted,
the even tide has come.
Turn off the light and say goodnight,
sweet dreams I love you mum.

Be My Bible Tonight
DieingEmbers Feb 2012
The Darkness bares it's blackened teeth
consuming me
swollowimg me whole
into the belly of the beast,
naked truths
skinny dip within the stagnant
waters of my tears
laughing in inaudible silence
mocking me.
My fingers scrabble in the mildew of my existence
disturbing memories
from long forgotten shelves,
flesh thinly bound their broken spines
a voice says open me for I am hope
as I Pandoras surragate ******* child comply.
For here in the absence of light
is truth
leather bound...
held close to my breast my heart
a symbolic shield,
this promise could be anything from pornogrophy to poetry
but yet tonight
pulling the covers tight
it is my Bible
for yea though I walk in the valley of death
I will fear no evil, for thou art my rod and staff, thou comfort me...
