Your kiss was a blade
Slicing through my tender flesh
Carving up my heart.
Good And Bad

It was the best of times,
it was the worst of times,
hope you're ready,
for a whole new set of rhymes.
Met a girl, name was Sue,
she got me hard, then left my ***** blue.
Cooked me a huge steak, with a side of carrots,
took a bite and out came lots of maggots.
Getting ready for a hot date,
guess not coming, being two hours late.
Having your kids say I love you,
then telling them, the plans fell through.
Cuddling with your favorite boy or girl,
then on your face they start to hurl.
Driving and singing a cool *** song,
getting pulled over and they find your ****.
Hope to get lucky with all this flirtation,
then get naked and have premature *******.
Bottom of the ninth and winning by two,
making an error and they score a few.
Talking a shower that's nice and hot,
only to find a peeper, your friend Scott.
Writing the great American novel,
but you have to rewrite, you forgot a vowel.
Sitting, relaxing having a cold beer,
all alone, friends just slowly disappear.
Buying a new tv with high definition,
two days later you lose your vision.
Having a car that's fully loaded,
wiring recall, then it exploded.
Future being so bright,
then darkness blocks your sight.
Waking up and it's hot and sunny,
can't go out with no **** money.
Enjoying the indoors, with air condition,
ankle bracelet and still on probation.
Good and bad things will always be there,
it's all in how you mentally prepare.

Redshift
to my sister,
i am a nice keepsake
that she keeps in the bottom drawer

i live in a town she left for something better
in a house she never lived in

to my sister,
i am nostalgia.
i am twinklie lights outside nice smelling vegetarian restaurants
and self-taken pictures she sends to her new boyfriend
that i've never met

to my sister
i am something she visits
for old time's sake
i am no more important than her hometown
i am simply something to be visited
when the time rolls around
and you feel like you should go back to your roots and pay your respects

i am that moment.
i am that timeframe
i am those twenty-two years
those dandelions on the front lawn of our childhood home

to my sister
i am kept for keeping's sake
kept for keeping's sake,
a pet for seeking's cape.

The Noose
An agglomeration of accomplishments
Trophies enameled with false hope
And worth their weight in insignificance
They keeping piling up endlessly
Scatter them around this ice-cold structure we call home
So we can marvel at the sight of them
In our blissful illusion

Let the realism invade our psyches
To claim it’s rightful place.

Tethered to this pedestal
The highest I have ever seen
It is a long way down this precipitous *****
I want to descend
Then smash it to smithereens

Finger nails peeling off
As I scratch away at the wall
To tear it down so I can flee
Out
Of this womb of perpetuated cloistered existence.

I thought I saw a shooting star,
but it was really the headlights
from a passing car.
Reflecting off of my window
In to the sky.
It was just an elusive glow.
Hope does nothing
except let go.
