I remember that song we sang
Back in 1962
We never thought we'd see
changes like that
Like the ones that we lived through

And I remember that song we sang
Back in 1975
The war was finally over then
And we stopped getting high

I remember that song we sang
Back in 1982
The one that made our eyes well up
And flow the mourning dew

I remembered you today
In each and every way
How the lights and the stars would dance
When you walked that way

Victoria, I wish I knew
and I wish how I could say
All the things that I felt for you
Well, they never went away

Even now, when I hear your tune
Hummingbirds feel love that way
And no, I can't ever have you back
But, a man can dream away
Dream away, anyway

I still remember that song we sang
And I sing it every day
I still remember that song we sang
And I sing it every day
Every day

I'm sorry you told me
I didn't want to hear that
Maybe that's why there's a time
for when the cats fight their scratch

You told me to put it where it maybe itched
Hear it now cannonball railman threw switch
Missus Jones lover on the Salt Lake line
That's too much information

Get me to the Santa Fe
The southern pacific done run away
Six eight-wheelers pulled up Reno Hill
That's too much information

Love is the only thing
Love is

Love is all that matters
one thing

The one love that is
is Love

Love is one thing
Love is

The only one thing there is
Is Love

Rain that melts the snow away in early May will never go away.

Seems like that for several days here in March we've lost our ozone layer.

"Big Deal" says the taxi-man in the big city with the fat wallet.

Fat oil says, fat oil says, fat oil says, fat oil says goodnight.

Eat green, eat fresh, eat lithium, just don't try to drink the tritium.

High tide in the hackensack as the moon smiles down on the mosquitoes.

Big daddy stepping on the little man again d.t.v. no good.

Big daddy stepping on the little man there's no healthcare.  Just say die.

This year we can make believe there is health care.  Temperature, pulse, blood pressure.

That is all they do for you for those on medicare and medicaid I swear.

Come back in ninety days we'll do it all over again.  Foot bleeding

It's probably fine, soak it in hot water or you could see a doctor.

But you have to go to the e.r., then you wait for a specialist.

This way they can charge for the higher rate the insurance can't cover.

And that is what caused all those states to be bankrupt.  American Ulcers.

But the people who give half their pay to get insurance get to live.

Up on Boulder Hill they gather
to celebrate what really matters
finally, a winning football season
as higher and higher glows a worthwhile fire

The bonfire for the team

We're paying more for that and this
The calm ease swan

They're buying up the businesses

Ain't no how gonna stand for this!

It's difficult to say
Even harder here to stay

This is the age of socialism
This is the age of socialism
We gotta end all socialism
We gotta end this socialism

Ain't no swan gonna fly by me in a summer breeze
Gonna grab its neck, break it in half and ate it.

Am I your heel?
Am I your sole?

The weight of your walk
Each step, so bold

You tread
All over me

With your daddy's gold
Your gait, a story in itself

So successful
Given everything you have

Such a power
Usurping other halves with ease

So cold, the stones
You walk on

Like the pre-dawn
Mist of a winter's solace

The stronger the love
The harder the hurt

The thicker the blood
The further the spurt

The further you run
The stronger the dirt

Do you even have a soul?
Could it ever be healed?

Jesus approached Santa the other day.  "Yo Santa!  What's the big idea?"
quipped Jesus.  "Huh?" mumbled Santa.  "You heard me, you fat bstrd!"
Jesus declared vociferously.  "Hey, watch who you're calling bstrd."  Santa replied.  "Well then fess up."  Jesus demanded.  "Jesus, I swear to Christ, I really don't know what the fck you are talking about."  replied Santa.  "You know exactly what I am talking about Claus and don't try to deny it."  snapped Jesus.  "What did I do?"  asked Santa.  "You're giving away gifts on MY birthday.  What's the big Idea?"  resnapped Jesus.  "Th-Th-the children."  was all that Santa was able to mutter.  "Give them gifts on THEIR birthday, *sshl*."  endeth Jesus.

You can not breathe the air in New York City
Everybody move away from there
The air will **** you even if you're near there
So die or ****** move away from there

All the tourists, they keep coming and
the overcrowded airports keep polluting
And the trucks and all the cars and buses
Now the air is deadly;Keep on smoking (idiots)

We thought this city was the greatest
It only goes to show just how much we know
Maybe someday we will save the planet
Instead of spending on the oil and the tolls

This city looks so pretty in the moonlight
too bad it ends our lives;the misery
Hope one day you all will see the daylight
Till then I'm moving far, like overseas

On Sunday, eighty thousand go to Jersey
Where the pig farms used to really foul the air
A billion dollars spent [on] NFL football
Too bad, you breathe, you die, the way it is

You can not breathe the air in New York City
Everybody move away from there
The air will **** you even if you're near there
So die or ****** move away from there
Die or ****** move away from there
Don't stay just get the hell out of there!

dad said son i threw out your cards
i wept and cried with tears
then my head
got smashed
in tree
along with all my dreams
lost in time

well it caught up
paid for all my demons
could die wasted
plastered faces
seen with broken miles

drove my cab
three million miles
three million miles
demensions
dementations
jim, harold, patrick
gone forever
well, maybe not

spock, can you hear me
I gave up on destiny
and shooting stars
and all that misery

I learn to dry my tears
upon the open wind
and wash my mind
with breath of broken sea

and now i've got to go
charge the three point per
and the extras keep coming
yeah the extras keep coming
to keep me
they make me sleepy
but i don't sleep

There used to be a trolley
that ran from Maywood to Hoboken
They tore it down
circa 20th century year 71

It only cost a dime
unless you got off to go on
another line

Most of the time it went very slow
and rocked back and forth

At other times it would move very fast
at which time one would have to hold
onto his hat or lose it

A hat cost about two dollars
A good hat could run five bucks or more

For a ten cent ride
It really wasn't worth the risk
of losing your hat

When you could take the bus for a quarter

Bury me in Alaska
My dear old friend
It won't be in vain
It's how I wish my life to end

Grind up my remains
And feed it to the bears
There, in Alaska
Not someplace colder

Not in Aroostook
Not in Maine
Bury me in Alaska
It won't be in vain

She doesn't like musicians
Calls herself the Josephine
Cut through to her smile
and you will see how she is, mean
A threat to those in A.C.
Playing ***** with machine
Some airhead playing samurai
in only a bikini

She doesn't like musicians
"You know what I think of them?" she asks
I just keep myself tight
as I try to forget the past
Then, she winks at me as to raise her chair
and I am mesmerized by blondness
Blinding me, her hair
and she takes me down and slays me
as I lie here

She doesn't like musicians
Football' swhere it's at
"I think I'll love my brother" she says
But, I don't tip for coffee and chat
and we both just leave it at that
Then, I think that this it it
The last time
and I think that she got in the last laugh
And I know she had the first

The babysitter sat me outside
to mop her kitchen floor
It was at the age of only five
That I would learn much more

The leader of the wolf pack then
not far from where we lived
began a true and lasting friendship
He was my only friend

I don't know how he learnt to speak
my language or knew when
to warn me all about the dangers
coming to me then

He nudge my face with his cold nose
and slobbered it a bit
He knew of every single woe
sometimes would have fit

Told tales of politician's friends
Who'd stab me and again
of Hollywood celebrities
who'd try to cause my end

And other famous wannabes
and lowlife ***** dirt
that dress in fine and fancy suits
but **** then steal your boots

He told me of my evil twin
who sent me to the pen
And took away my hard earned pay
and every dime I stored away

He offered to cut short my life
to avoid all of the pain
and ease me to a resting place
one might call heaven

His plan was shortened by a drunk
Who used Lord's name in vain
Put a bullet in his head
My one and only friend

When I was a kid
I don't rem-ember exactly when
5, maybe 6, or seven
my mother was such a *******
she'd tell me to "go get the belt"

and I, like a dolt,
would go the the closet
in my room
grab a nice one
and return to her with it

Where she would
repeatedly strike me with it
this would go on for a period
of about four years

Until one day an old man
entered my room and witted
"Hey Kid! next time she asks
you to "go get the belt"
Go HIDE!

Unless you want to be beaten again
for being a go-get-'er"

The other day they showed on the news a tweet by President Elect Donald J. Trump. It is a very sad situation when you have an illiterate as your newly appointed leader. It's like I told Layne Marie. It only gets it, when it is and never gets it when in possession. I know what you're thinking. This poet did the same thing when he posted poems on other sites. Yes. Guilty as charged. But, Trump didn't pay Mike Tyson to beat up you. And whenever I recover from those beatings I just might get up the nerve to do something about it. DO NOT TELL ME that this country is so ******* up that anyone running for president shouldn't have to take a literacy test. So we have now a mobster that is ignorant of the rules of grammar, leading the way. This is a very sad day. The 14th will be an even Saturday.

The love poem is written
for somebody special
The one you truly care about
in life

And only that one

And only that
one true somebody
should be the only
one to read the love poem

And no one else

For who else could
ever know
what it is about

Love

Nearly twenty years ago
I can't believe time flies
When all I had upon my mind
Was thoughts of getting high

I never understood my mom
Popping pills at tea
or How my grandpa polished
off a case a day, no, three

Not wanting to become insane
or Die diseased so early
I decided at a legal age
To smoke the ****, for surely

of All the places in the states
Just one said do it legally
I packed my bags and set out for
Mendocino County

I took my time, such a long ride
on 80 from New Jersey
Enjoyed the sights but, flew no kite
Still, made my travels worthy

The California National Guard
and the DEA
Set up a post to check all cars
in/out of the county

It took a couple hours then
For them to inspect me
I must admit here that this greet
Did make me feel uneasy

They made it very clear to me
That I could smoke' the ****
Just don't try to take it out
of Mendocino County

I said "Okay!"  They said "Drive Safe"
I buckled ; drove away
I drove along the two-lane road
Admittedly Amazed

I turned a corner , hit the brakes
There was in front of me
A farmer man, who did tell me
Get out, you have to learn the ****

I abided easily
to learn most all or everything
I could so one day I could be
An expert in Weedology

I spent nearly a week or two
Finding out all that I could
But, I was high and this did lead
to some info misunderstood

I learned cultivation, irrigation
debugging plants by spraying pepper
Planting, pruning, a beginner
But, after time, I did get better

Then one day after a cup
of morning Bhang, I did awake
Then moseyed on to brighter pastures
****** alone, I was quite baked

Would you believe ; I can't believe
A girl I knew from New Jersey
A ***** from Hawthorne she despised me
This feeling was so mutually

After I escaped her grip
And fed her some more bitter lip
I took my bag, it was a lid
and slowly rolled another spliff

I found a house to my amaze
It said "For Rent" read in my haze
I paid the rent/security
Pulled out a blunt, began to blaze

There was no time that I remember
From months of May through to September
That I wasn't high all day
I knew I had to move away

****, (the grass) grown everywhere
Just pick some off, feel better, there
No one left out of the haze
Everybody there did blaze

I got so bored, I was so teased
Stop it!  Stop it!  Stop it, please!
I can't be ****** all' of the time
Oh, shut up and smoke more of this ****

I could not take it anymore
I closed the house and shut the door
All the smoke I once adored
Soon became all such a bore

I packed my bags and said goodbye
To all my stoner friends still high
I headed north to Oregon
To grow tomatoes, seemed like fun

Twenty years now have been spent
Remembering those cronies
Those mendacious merchant mendicants
of Mendocino County

I can't get by on just a dollop of love
So I guess I have to say goodbye and
I ain't asking any trollop for love
For no one needs a helping of that

But, I can not see a thing
For you were my periscope

the sparrows sing

The storm it is landside
Takes all the trees that were going to die
The cargo floods the highways
A pier ride in the ocean
Fifty-five hundred sheltered, safe and sound
Over 6 million people without power
Did they ever really have the power
Not like Sandy
Such devastation

In just ten years
They built a new suburb
ONLY FIFTY MILES FROM HERE
It takes two hours
Except on friday nights
Then, it's three to get there
Where the bear and the deer
USED to walk in the woods
and the chipmunks would run scared
And the sweet smell of
Pine fur filled the air
And everything was nice there
Now the maple trees grow everywhere
It seems the deer don't eat here
And the bear crossed
The river called the Delaware
And the Poconos is the new burb
No more vacations
No more summers here
Just more suburban madness

I'll tell you about the ringing in my ear
I'll tell you about the ringing in my ear, dear
I'll tell you 'bout the ringing in my ear
I'll tell you about the ringing in my ear

Well, I lived better once, better than you
You know what I'm taking about
You know that it's true
Well, well, well baby it's true

And the preacher's girl don't cut it no more
Been walking 'round her door
Doesn't seem to live there anymore
And what's the score
What's the score

Tell me 'bout the ringing in your ear
Tell me about the ringing in your ear, dear
Tell me about the ringing in your ear
Tell me 'bout the ringing in your ear

Sunset-morning dew
Maybe it's true, yeah you
Hey, can I see you sometime?
Drink that same old wine
Maybe tomorrow, maybe today
But, most of all yesterday
Most of all yesterday

I hear that ringing in your ear
I hear that ringing in your ear, dear
I hear that ringing in your ear
I hear that ringing in your ear

There is a tenant
that lives in my building
who pays no rent

This time of year
he spends his time
rolling his nuts into storage
behind the brown wood paneling
at the head of my bed

He scurries around his
furry little self, day and night
to ensure that
I get no rest

I asked the landlord
if this tenant pays rent
"How much do you get from him" I asked
"Can't get a nut out of him" the reply

"So why don't you evict him"
"Don't be stupid, I can't evict him"
"Why not?"
"Because you can't take a squirrel to court"

About a half an hour later
the landlord knocks on my door
Shows me a handful of acorns
then demands

"GET OUT"

I think HE's nuts

You're always telling me stories you found
To make up for telling me lies
Sometimes I feel that I've had it with you
And just want to head for the sky

I've got to hand it, the platter to you
Without you I'd be lonesome blue
If ever anyone hurt me like you
They'd probably sing these words too

Like you're singing

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
All night and day you can take me away
To your very own special nice place

Play with me

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
You made me to occupy time that you needed
When it was time to get away

And so please

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
You're better off with me playing these games
Then just sitting and wasting away

The song is so merry
And notes keep it cherry
And fingers keep bouncing on keys
And clarinets sing to the french horns that ring
In the air is a freshness it brings

We're holding our hands
And we're dancing around
And we don't even care if we're seen
We're laughing and smiling and happy again
Feeling like we're in our teens

I wink at you as you giggle with me
Suddenly life is serene
Never again can I live life
Without you or someone
I swear that it's this that I mean

And you sing to me

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
All night and day you can take me away
To your own special very nice place

Take me there

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
Take me away
Play
Take all my stress away
Take all my miserable pain

And worry

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
You make my living worth living again
And again
This is all I can say

Come on and

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
Make up a medley, a game, or just play
Play to make time go away

Play with me

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
Move all the strings with your ice cream sticks please
A jiggle just might make me sneeze

Come on, please

Play
Play
Geppetto please play
Forget your worries and just play away
Untill it's another new day

Play

So many questions about something I wrote
Maybe a greetings day card
Didn't have time to drop off a note
Too many to answer; too hard

I've written before about being abused
Everyday most of my life
But, there's something else here I wanted to say
The reason I don't have a wife

I never knew love, and when love was new
The happiness it brought was bright
In love with a girl whose father's named sue
Could not erase all of my plight

I can't force you to believe what you hear
is it anymore truth than a lie
But, after a while of bending your ear
You'll see, miracles do become life

Although I astound myself and all my friends
Surviving the turns and the bends
Left many an offspring to carry on fear
Though I never raised one of them right

I wish I could hold them; I wish I could teach them
Or maybe just kiss them goodnight
But, they're all adults now. Yet, they've never known
Their father who didn't grow right

I hope I have made it too clearly by now
So that everyone can have no doubt
I lied about Butter Jane Mary Moonlight
But, the rest was the truth, I do shout!
David Ehrgott Nov 2015
I fell in love
with a ghost/witch/mermaid
The prettiest girl in the world
In any century
Atlantic City
Nineteen Eighty-five

I'm not sure who to point
or blame for the how or what
that led to change
the level of my dimension
Don't know why

But if I ever get to her again
and if it doesn't lead to sin
Not sure if I'd grab
the bargain or the Bible

I gave her just one kiss
to dare and tried my best
to not to stare
at all her hard shell/hard sell
Custom Homemade Ocean Jewelry

Tried so hard to hide my fear
of dying could not take the cold
hard facts of life's blatant destiny
Desire hurt my soul

I had to come back here
Again just to see your face
I bet that someday we will
Finally be friends or so much
More than that I don't pretend
I warn you Sam my
One and only friend

And if you knew my sister sue
She stunk
The world then had her due
I may
Not never
Know what door she would have choosed

And if you stick around
choo-choo
You'll hear a song/can sing along
about some trains
that I pretend I knew

The turtle and the snail
They ride on tender ground
I miss you girl
I'm tying this old country
Song to you

I was way to young to
let my burning ash exist
Had much more yearning
to do learning
what was asked, I just forgot
Don't know if I have that
much more to counter

No lady
bug would ever sing
about my blues
I have no ring
to give I even lost my broken teeth

I lived a week
Four Million years
or somewhere in between that
Dear you can
not preposition end a sentence

And if you know that I'm a tease
won't be surprised
But I won't leave you
Hang around
I'm sure there's plenty more

Well look at that I'm tired flat
I wrote two pages how 'bout that
I guess it makes no sense to further carry
On again I could just turn

the page
hey now, see that
I got more space to write
more facts about my life
and why I am so crazy

Her fins they flapped I followed
Her a million laps
from old man-
hattan lower end
I mixed it up my friend
No really
Hope there is no more confusion

I don't no life
I just exist
I tell no lie
I swear sweet miss
So don't you try
to get me into trouble

The turtle and the snail
will ride the earth once more
go where you go
I've been there
So I'm ducking in again

I think I'll have a beer
This ends I'm sure
it's not one of my gems
But what more do I need to say or do
Then sit here and songwrite again
or write haikus that never end
on this lazy Sunday afternoon

The turtle and the snail
will ride the earth once more
After we're gone
They'll still be here
Go bang a gong
They're two slow pokes
One's soft
One's hard
You figure out which
One's made just for you

An oyster clam or
Lady bug would get eat up or
Just get stuck
No more eating that much
Pasta without salad

And now it's time to
Get on board
Hey you Choo-Choo
Four-Fifty-Four
I'm gettin' out of here
Hear what I promised

I don't know but I've been told
The Redding Railroad dropped its load
Go take the B&O; to someplace new
'Cause California outgrew you
With double headed 2-82s
Canadian Pacific calling you
No B&M;?
Rutland will do
with RS3 and 2-8-2
to Lake Champlain the 201 with you

Delaware & Hudson call
'ol Henry Stewart
from Whitehall
he's steering Alcors3; the engineer
But don't look here
'Cause I'm not there
That bobby fooled you/disappeared
and lookit
where'd they go?
that's all the words!

**** 'em then forget them
That's our motto
Three today, more tomorrow
David Ehrgott Dec 2015
They all know him
They use him as conscience
There goes the whipping boy

And they all loathe him
They treat him like garbage
All loathe the whipping boy

They say that they love him
Then beat him senseless
Poor boy the whipping boy

His family uncaring
They leave him in darkness
All fear the whipping boy

Now who do they turn to
When need to find blame
Point to the whipping boy

They beat him and beat him
Until he's insane
That crazy whipping boy

Celebrities kidnap him
Then they take turns
****** the whipping boy

They laugh at the fact
That he's only thirteen
Ha!  Ha!  the whipping boy

His scars never healing
And always they burn
Too bad for whipping boy

Let's call him names
And then teach him to learn
Take that you whipping boy

His life, it was taken
Before he could walk
Crawl now you whipping boy

Also, was taken
His right to talk
Keep tight you whipping boy

Maybe the army
Would do him some good
Shoot here you whipping boy

Just don't get caught
'cause we know you're no good
We know the whipping boy

We'll scare off his girlfriends
Then blame it on him
You're queer you whipping boy

No girl for you
Because pictures don't lie
Look here you whipping boy

The chains that they use
On his head are so strong
Just bleed you whipping boy

When he wakes up
He'll probably just die
Just die you whipping boy

One day they looked for him
Nothing was found
Where is that whipping boy

We aren't finished
With that joking clown
Give us our whipping boy

Who do we blame
Or treat bad when we're down
We blame the whipping boy

Half of our fun
Was in putting him down
We want our whipping boy

We'll never let him
Forget that he's ours
We own the whipping boy

We'll never let him
Forget him, he's drowned
No more the whipping boy

Who can we toy with now
Whipping boy's gone
Not I the whipping boy

We're very sorry
The whipping boy's gone
Too bad for whipping boy

There's a blind man at The Garden
and he's dancing to The Dead
He hasn't any worries
Bouncing in or on his head

His wife pulled out his eyeballs
so he'd never look again
At anybody else but her
Posession, not his friend

His father blames the white folk
for all the damage to his kin
Hey listen!  Twas the wife, folk
not the color of her skin

Then she pops in eyeballs from the Mr. Potato Head Game
into his sockets
Just to play with everybody's head
She loves him

Yesterday
She wore a cream colored
blouse with a white
skirt so
to appear
as an ice
cream float
yet, somehow
Sweetness escaped
this non-diet
bev'rage

Third grade rules. They sound simple and really, one does not
have to be a brainiac in order to understand them. Although one learns them in the third grade, they remain valid though the rest of one's life.

Rule#1:  Making something you want yours.
In order to make something you want yours, simply spit all over it. Trust me, no one else will want it. And it will be yours for the rest of your existence.

Rule#2:  Making someone it.
In order to make someone it, simply take your index finger and poke the person you want to be it. Then say "You're it". Then, they will be it.

To do it with someone you want to be yours. First, spit all over them. Then make them it. Then you can do it with the one who is yours. Do you see now how simple life can be just by applying the rules of the third grade. I hope I have helped clarify things for the better of everyone. There is no need to thank me and have a great summer.
