that look in your eyes
reflects my endless delight
whenever we meet
Senryu
We dreamt together
Neath the cobalt sky
Warm waves drenched our feet
a bent arbutus
skwak! SKWAK!, calls the kingfisher
dark blue green water
Haiku
yellow moon rising
above the cobalt massif
quails in golden grass
Haiku
a deserted farm
near the bend in the river
good for blackberries
Haiku
the geese are leaving
all is gray and luminous
this cool cloudy day
dry leaves are on the pavement
they tumble by in the breeze
a black dog pads past, nose down
pigeons fly up to safety
i check the time on my phone
and enter the train
Choka
when we turn away
the "Ah!" in empathy dies
leaving us empty
Haiku
your text at midnight
an enigmatic request
and then you were gone
Senryu
A new day dawns bright
I sip cold and golden air
Contented to be
near the whitewashed wall
a splash of geraniums
blazed a rich blood red
in the golden glance
of daylights final dazzle
i stopped and i enjoyed it
a house finch warbled nearby
shadows deepened all around
and drowned the final glow
gold to blue then starry night
filled with the songs of crickets
and my thoughts of you
Choka
our technology
can stunt us physically
also mentally
through loss of initiative
but its' greatest sin is that
it can isolate us and
erode empathy
Choka
time rubs against me
slowly blurring my lines
till i  disappear
Senryu
They sat beside a steep black hole
Perched high upon the event horizon
It chilled them to their very soul
That they might fall with no hope of risen
Fall comes and harvest
Fields lay pregnant and heavy
Full of baby spring
life's complexity
is spellbinding to behold
a fractal splendour
that will never fit into
a pedantic pigeon hole
for when it is studied close
it generates more questions
than it does primal answers
instead it is wonderful
a universe without end
full of beauty abundant
a shining celebration
of entropy's spawn
Choka
beautiful woman
you have broken my heart
and sold him your love
Senryu
as breakers crash in
along the blazing hot strand
Still tidal pools wait
Haiku
tiny hidden beach
full of shells all rainbow play
a childhood treasure
Senryu
you are beautiful
when you are tickling me
with your clever eyes
Senryu
rain beautiful rain
washing away my heartache
hiding all my tears
i see in your heart
an ineffable beauty
that lights up my soul
Senryu
you there on the stilts
looking down upon us all
beware of termites
Senryu
Your faces' fine lines
danced in faithful tandem with
your beguiling eyes
a veritable tango
of sinuous expression
explosive barely restrained
and i kissed you back
Choka
and the truth about
behavioural management
though never implied
is that the behaviourist
is equally affected
bad for bad and good for good
for we are all plastercene
everything leaves its mark
and we are all flexible
and easily remolded
for bad or for good
Choka
I think the subject which will be of most importance politically is Mass Psychology... Its importance has been enormously increased by the growth of modern methods of propaganda. Although this science will be diligently studied, it will be rigidly confined to the governing class. The populace will not be allowed to know how its convictions are generated.
This a quote from at least 50 years ago!
And when I touched her
A fiery blaze burned through me
Now aching for more
I no longer cared at all
If tomorrow came or not
life becomes better
when your inner family
trust one another
Senryu
beware of half truths
being used as levers to
pry you from the truth
Senryu
summer on the beach
"Grandpa look, a jellyfish!"
waving a ******
Senryu
I heard a bird sing
On a cold, gray winters day
Grieving for summer
aeolian day
birds swim the green ocean
that flows to and fro
Haiku
Golden light, days end
Shadows lengthen, darkness grows
Slap, slap! - mosquitoes
Haiku
thinking about you
and all the love that we shared
turns my green eyes blue
Senryu
Oh you are clever
So full of yourself, I see
Worldly and stylish
And always cooler than cool
Too bad you are so blind
I honestly doubt
that he is capable of
love or compassion
if you could only just see
what is apparent to me
you would be running away
so my lady please beware
at this moment what you see
is all his best behaviour
for his eyes are on the prize
jockeying for the big win
Oh, and could you please give him
a little message from me
that if he ever harms you
in any way big or small
I will wring his neck
Choka
Lying on my back
Amidst the manzanita
Gazing at the sky
Crickets and cicadas chant
Shrill and sonorous
As I leave myself and fly
A single raven
Soaring the wild blue yonder
All my torments left behind
Choka
shadows deepening
snow topped indigo mountains
flamingo pink skies
camped by a glacial lake
watching the end of the day
a single ****** swims past
its wake a thin silver line
then a loon calls from far off
and my heart disentangles
as the universe floods in
and washes away my pain
in a deep ocean of stars
bliss incandescent
Choka
A pretty pink rose
A blossom without peer
Love is in flower
your eyes are deep blue
i thought they were true blue
but now i am blue
Senryu
a gentle rustling
a blur across the sidewalk
a bumblebee mouse
Hailu

I am a taurus
somewhat of a Ferdinand
out smelling flowers
eyeing pretty little cows
capering in the pasture
but those that make the mistake
of thinking me soft or meek
or even a bit foolish
find out to their pained chagrin
that this gentle Ferdinand
becomes El Toro
Choka
Rain falls steadily
Straight down from the dark slate sky
Umbrellas march past
The air is green tinged
Hedges bursting with bird song
Then a flash and thunder's roar
the rain now falling harder
The smell of damped dust rises
I breathe in the earthy scent
glad to be alive
Choka
my heart leaks out
crushed by your three words
i am engaged
Senryu
people often say
war makes a boy a man
and i say *******
Senryu
coloured piece of glass
worn smooth by sand and waves
gemstone of the beach
Haiku
the fire has not died
it still burns deep inside me
and i rake those coals
raising clouds of hot sparks from
embers full of memories
so painfully beautiful
that i cry and scream in pain
wishing that i could return to
the blazing red inferno
of our torrid love
Choka
fibonacci  sparks
racing to their extinction
through the cold night air
tracing fleeting silhouettes
that drift and fly within me
as I look upon the flames
my back to the night
choka
sheer dark canyon walls
neath a star struck dizzy sky
a train horn echoes
Haiku
touching, caressing
our flaming bodies entwined
consecrating us
in loves scorching crucible
a passionate rhapsody
sublime and boundless
Tanka
fishing in my mind
trying to catch the big one
with my thoughts as bait
