Hate to wake up to disappointment,
Sleep was welcome appointment,
Now reality murders my consciousness,
Finding solace, again, in rusty restlessness.
Nig vs. Urg 2013 Conf Cup

That all my life,
To you I devoted,
But only rewarded,
With sorrow and strife.

You can never get it all,
Everything you ever wanted,
Those things you always dreamt of,
That...complete... package.
Have you seen a unicorn, white, with silver horn? I thought so, too.

Come now, to light,
That a bird in flight,
Caught in a messy fight,
Fell out the sky, the other night;

Mothers, fathers, and uncles,
Daughters, sons, and aunties,
Shared loving goodbyes, sweet hugs,
To meet again over warm mugs;

But alas! With one shot!
Everything came to pieces!
Breaking the hearts of hundreds, lot!
Last moments, unimaginable,
Human error?
Iran unintentionally shot down flight 752 carrying 176 passenger and crew members. They claim it was a direct reation to America's belligerence.

We speak without words,
Talk without saying anything,
We fight without swords,
Yet we are our everything.
Dada Olowo Eyo Jan 2020
You bother me; yes, you do,
The energy you bring, too,
And who said you're welcome?
Everything, to us, but not awesome.
Some people just don't get it.

Suffering is the better part of enjoyment,
For them half a loaf is the best thing ever,
They would diefy their oppressors,
And vilify those with merciful intentions.
The case of Nigeria is a tiring one, they are okay with represive governments, agencies and policies as long as they get to survive the next day. TRAGIC.
Dada Olowo Eyo Jun 2020
Such crass hypocrisy,
Coming from high society,
Blaming nomenclature,
For their inane nature;

Calling a pig,
A bad dig,
Just to roast it,
And save your own meat;

The movement has responded,
Just as the street would have wanted,
A total boycott of your brand,
To garnish your garri with enough sand.
A flight owner in Nigeria recently wrote a letter of apology when queried for flying a popstar and reality show star to the country's capital for a drive-in concert that saw people violate the presidential taskforce on COVID-19 directives against crowding.

In their own wisdom, the business owner labelled the passengers that used his heat USELESS PEOPLE and that got the MARLIANS riled up, calling for a total boycott of their airline services.

The hypocrisy in that country called Nigeria is second to none anywhere in the world.

Olympus is in mourning,
Pedestrian lowlifes have assumed,
Proportions only fit for dwellers,
Of that celestial firmament.

Imagination that's pure,
Heavenly sweet sensation,
You, my friend and companion,
To share with, to care and dare for;

You alone matter to me,
The two of us basking,
In the sunshine of our loving,
Being the best versions we can be.
Dada Olowo Eyo Apr 2013
Still I see you in my dreams,
You taunt me, and jeer,
This is more than I can bear,
Thus I go to swim, tonight, the ****** streams.
Dada Olowo Eyo Jul 2014
Aye, you take away,
My livelihood with a wicked smirk,
Know ye, today,
The heavens multiply your sorrow's birk.

She's dark and mysterious,
Never reveals what she is,
Lust comes to her with ease,
Rejection fills her with loss.
Dada Olowo Eyo Sep 2013
Dark and mysterious,
Petite and precious,
Not met her before,
But she be stuff of folklore.
Dada Olowo Eyo Apr 2019
Hold my centre,
Lest apart, I begin to fall,
Prop me up to stand taller,
Or I get kicked around like a clueless ball.
Dada Olowo Eyo Aug 2015
But between the high and  sounding,
And the lowly quiets,
Rests a place for poets,
Bedecked of beautiful writing.
Dada Olowo Eyo Feb 2013
Hooked on eyes,
That shone like dazzling stars,
These are no lies,
See, here, diamond bars.
I just met this great young lady and she's pretty nice. :)

My mind's made up to succeed,
Although my heart flutters,
Excellence is my daily creed,
I beat it ever so loudly, up, unto the rafters.
Dada Olowo Eyo Sep 2019
Everything is out of place,
In this filled space,
The many serve the few,
And get nothing but stale bread and stew.
Dada Olowo Eyo Apr 2019
On av free fall,
Faster, faster, faaaaaaster!
Then you catch me,
Sloooooow meeeee doooooownnnnn, with your love.
Dada Olowo Eyo Apr 2019
Hunger holds me by the scruff,
Life has been so tough,
Nothing I get is ever enough,
Who will give me some stuff?

When love turned the corner,
Into the right partner,
There was a moment,
When magic needed no comment.
Dada Olowo Eyo Jan 2018
He just rolled out a poorly prepared script,
ingFailed attempt at ignite hope in anyone,
Streaming his **** and bull story in perpetual darkness,
Simply wasted megabytes of cheerless nonsense.
Dada Olowo Eyo Aug 2020
Destiny, she failed to smile,
As you sold me a wrenching lie,
Falling for your sweetened guile,
Absent between accursed thigh.

Wash away my longing,
But steam me first,
Dry me on the bedding,
Then quench my thirst.
Dada Olowo Eyo Oct 2015
Between clarity and the simple,
A place neither you nor I,
Will find, as a point, so high,
As that of a rising dimple.
Dada Olowo Eyo Oct 2018
By manufactured impracticability,
The made up mountain set before the children of state,
Sacrificed to the demon of abandonment,
Left behind, cursed by the  misfortune of birth.
Young and talented Nigerians are sadly impoverished by the simple reason of being Nigerians.

With red and white,
And hearts beating as one,
Lovers gather in cheerful delight,
To greet the warm, fourteen sun.
It's seven days to #LOVERSDay2013

And off he goes,
Leaving behind their tales of woe,
Forgetting life throws,
The ultimate, final, decisive blow.
Dada Olowo Eyo Feb 2020
And I have realised a man,
Truly can never,
Be free of his umbilical,
Eternally bound to his mother;

And when he takes a wife,
The vows become another bond,
Too strong, even to contemplate,
Breaking asunder at a whim

And between both women,
A delicate imbalance,
Where it to materialise,
Portends misfortune for the unfortunate;

Thus here I am,
Strongly contemplating,
Whither to be this way,
Or that, and it tears me apart;
Life is neither white nor black, or gray either.

Lazy Thursday afternoon,
Room for cuddle and spoon,
Everywhere darkly cold,
Now, into the very warm fold.

The rains sing beautifully,
On the morning of HIS resurrection,
'Tis proper to feel happy and jolly,
In hope of coming perfection.
Dada Olowo Eyo Jul 2020
We think hate, rather,
Than love, toward,
The fellow human, who,
Should not think otherwise.
Dada Olowo Eyo May 2019
Don't put me down,
Because I'm female,
Don't tear my gown,
Because you're male.
The Nigerian Police Force in conjunction with some FCT sanctioned operatives under the guise of environmental & social services went rough on young women found at clubs  just before the commencement of the Moslem fasting period. These citizens of Nigeria were incarcerated, allegedly sexually assaulted with clubs & sticks all because they were found in 'ungodly hours' at 'red' spots in Abuja.

They however forgot to arrest malefolk in similar circumstances. HYPOCRITES.

Because I'm female,
Don't tear my gown,
Because you're male.

When love finds a home,
Or a dog its friend
When a soul finds companion,
And life its true meaning.
Dada Olowo Eyo Sep 2019
This  supernaturally occurring piece,
Of magically designed wonder on two feet,
Brings to me everything, and peace,
So, to drown in this love, is a welcome feat.
Dada Olowo Eyo Jan 2015
Said she, die I today,
No husband to weep for me,
No children to wail over me,
But is this love anyway?
Sometimes methinks love is such a wonderfully cloaked selfish emotion.
Dada Olowo Eyo Jul 2020
The little ants by the edges,
Or the tiny microscopic ticks,
The scurrying roaches along the cracks,
Or the annoying rodents lurking the shadows?
Dada Olowo Eyo May 2019
Hardly any good,
What man has ever created,
Guns, explosives, prostitution,
Gangsters in the hood,
Sad, this doom, uncannily initiated.
Dada Olowo Eyo Dec 2015
Two thousand year old controversy,
Of a manger, and of northern lights,
Of pagans or saintly rights,
Lord, have mercy.
Dada Olowo Eyo May 2020
To an injustice, what justice?
To torture, what reprisal?
To ******, what reawakening?
To arson, what renewal?

To hurt, what healing?
To war, what rebuilding?
To hate, what love?
To oppression, what expression?

To apartheid, what equal rights?
To racism, what humanity?
To nepotism, what equal opportunity?
To terrorism, what love and affection?

The world over,
Here and there,
Great dehumanisation,
People have been reduced,
To banana peel thrown by the sidewalk;

No significance is given,
To the soul that makes us equal,
Man turns upon man,
At the slightest provocation;

Throats are slit,
Blood is spilled,
Innocent heads, vital organs,
Harvest ed without remorse;

Blood is currency,
Ritualists offer for wealth,
Whether known or unknown,
People vanish, bodies are found;

But where did we go wrong?
We've turned our backs?
On the Almighty,
And faced evil, squarely;

Why do we inflict pain on others,
Throw families into sorrow,
***** life out of human beings,
As though pinching a lit candle?

Oh, what cruelty!
Visited upon the vulnerable,
Left to the whims of the wicked,
And the caprices of the malevolent;

So, will justice come?
Can these damages be repaired?
For all these iniquities,
What price?

Awareness?
Existence?
Interaction?
Emotion?

Stopping by this edge,
To smell the spring roses,
In the far distance, commotion,
Carneries dancing in a pond;

Gloomy looking workers,
Slunking off to site,
Tired looking eyes,
Forcing reluctant legs along;

Sprightly children,
Dancing off to school,
Shiney brown sandals,
Stomping dirt roads;

The many governed by a few,
Grains stored up for the few,
Poverty and sorrow for the many,
The little, always available for the many;

Tiny speck, unseen,
Huge beast, terror to the eye,
Soft, fluffy, pleasant to the touch,
Odoriferous, prickly avoided by all;

Black people wake up one morning,
To white people on their shore,
Four hundred years later, across the sea,
Mixed race people face discrimination;

Terrible claws swooping in from above,
Little furry friend darting around for bits of this and that,
Unbeknownst calamity bearing down on silent wings,
Delivered just before the next available hiding place.

When you work really hard,
As though the next minute,
Is not a guaranteed linear measure,
And the past is a waste of time.

Rolling in the hay,
Bright, with warm laughter,
The picture of the us together,
It was magical, in every way.

I couldn't think straight,
Every emotion bore weight,
I just couldn't wait,
Everyday, whistling at her gate.

In the security of a bubble,
The might of the lowly breeze blows trouble,
Carrying with it ominous foretelling,
Of when things draw closely to a foreboding close.
Dada Olowo Eyo May 2016
We find love,
Far and above,
Any smelly circumstances,
Or rotten utterances.

Standing there, wondering,
Who was staring back at me,
The stranger with the devilish grimace,
Taunting me with a wicked grin.
