Skeleton Keys
Curt A Rivard Sr May 2012
Look into all of your pockets,
And you will see, you have one or two and maybe even three.
What do they go to?
Your house, your car, a lock of some kind maybe?
Each one with its own unique cut and different look
Brink’s, Fargo “Safeguarding your valuables” is there motto.
Putting all of your trust in hopes that they will do what there made for.
So goes the saying, always trust the one you cannot see.
It takes two keys to open your box at the bank in there vault
Just like another type of box I know now.
One key lowers your bed for the perfect fit,
The other seals you in air tight and blocks out all the light.
No locksmith needed, no slim Jim required
These keys are all the same where ever you go.
What is the value of what is inside? I know what hers will be worth,
She should have two lira in hers and they’ll be covering her velvet eyelids,
Because it’s to pay the ferry man to cross over to the other side.

Book of Dead Names
Curt A Rivard Sr Apr 2013
Dusty, tattered and some pages are torn
Reading their names and how old they all were
I can see babies died, on the day, they were born
Reveling information on a grand scale
Thousands of names and all age’s as well
Written in proper grammar words
Adding their names to this book after they fell
Out on the hunt the book dates back to World War I
I’m in the cemetery’s looking for a matching stone
This is the best, when I find one it becomes fun
You all look the same, the rich and the poor,
Lying upon the morgue room table
After you came through the back door

Daymares
Curt A Rivard Sr Apr 2013
Gazing with both eyes geared to the day time sky
Written in cosmic dust made from raw diamonds
My blueprint plans are up there rolled out before me
Revealing a path I must follow with dangers that await me
Snatching pieces to the puzzle all along my journey
Shuffling with my hands I put them in the right place
I see a picture slowly start to come into my site
It’s always like a faerie tale everything that I do
Come gather around and cast upon me all your pain
A subject that has been injected into their world
I see nothing like ever before and there giving me a treat
Bit by bit they add more looking for a breaking point
Never will they find it for I get stronger everyday
More and more

Fogless Mirrors
Curt A Rivard Sr May 2012
The sound of a voice shouting out a distinct color,
Comes over the intercom.
Orderlies rushing all about in frenzy.
A screen that should look like an 8.9 earthquake happening,
Now only shows a razors edge thin line.
Compression thrusts must now begin
Once started you cannot stop.
Paddles please now to the chest, crackling static zaps,
Body thrashing about like a fish out of its safety zone
Log the minute, pull the drapes and tag the toe.
It’s a private encore just for me now
******* on her wrist and then on her neck
Still not any kind of clue, one last chance,
I reach again into my bag of effects and grab
Like having a last trick up my sleeve.
A Mirror in my clutch is unseen from her eyes
Placed now upon her lips as I look for something like a morning dew
Nothing so sweet can be found.
Her eighty sixth was the last time for candles that could be blown out.
Wrapping her now I try to keep her warm
Then slowly I help place her in her eternal slumber bed to rest
Now I’m given a key, O’ boy here we go
I know what time it is. I find comfort telling myself I’m just winding up a clock
I blow a breath and a last kiss; my eyes were the last to see.
If know body ever remembers, I will never forget!

Obsessive Compulsion
Curt A Rivard Sr May 2012
Like my finicky constrictor with one third of his body
Erected up like the Eiffel Tower he looks to the top
Waiting for the next meal to be delivered to satisfy
When the pain becomes too much to bare
On the move he goes searching for the next treat
Around in circles is all he can do confined in a glass music box
When normally even in nature they just lay and wait
I too am like that serpent that suffocates and then consumes
Waiting for that early morning call to start my day off
Too start it on the perfect note don’t matter what side of the bed
Finding myself at the pumps to go the extra mile I see out in the distance
I know of a place, heart is banging ever so hard here I come now
As if a pitcher on his dirt mound flexing before his throw
First pitch makes it a fast ball then I run to the plate to try and hit it
Strike one! Too fast, bases are loaded ninth inning uneven score series at stake
Second pitch makes it a slow ball and uses precision, articulate the words this time
Ran again and missed now Nero’s stadium of the dead is chanting, “Send Us Home!”
You can do it; I’m doing it for the home team that is all that is on your mind
Like my bag of tricks I pull out another, I’ll show them who spits out diamonds when he talks
Last and final pitch I send out a curve ball ran ever so fast and grabbed my club
Looked to the heavens and wacked a GRAND SLAM sending the dead to home, we won!
I know someday later I must follow, till then I’ll take my time rounding the bases
Smelling all the flowers and listening to the melody of birds along the way
For I look at people different now and I take time to look at all of them in their eyes.

I am a master poet,
No quatrains can compare.
Me and my youngest son
Solved Samson's Riddle together,
Wouldn't Samson's wife wish
We both were there.

No One Heard You
Curt A Rivard Sr Nov 2012
Three short ones from being a centurion
I met my next and the oldest one to date
Today makes number twelve. I got now, my first dozen.
Witnessing the frozen effect of your last breath
From across the room it was so clear
How wide the opening that your soul left behind
A silent scream they could not hear
Looking down into, I can see you’re now hollow
You grabbed ahold of my apple
And now it’s hard for me to swallow
Time pronounced fifteen twenty two
Time on my skeleton relic a mere six o four
In less than three to me you still felt warm
In a room, smaller than a college dorm
Snow globe by your side I just started to shake it
To start the raging blizzard that soon would begin to brew
I’m trapped in a white out, now what can I do?
Torqueing steel strings I held it closed
Packing cotton now I had no choice
I had to muffle the....
Silent sounds of your screams.

Nowhere to Run
Curt A Rivard Sr May 2013
Stunned and she’s hanging by her tail
Delivering a treat to eat like a piece of mail
Winding up like a spring coiled up inside
Frozen with fright for she can’t hide
In the Garden of Eden that is where she lied
She can’t escape now because there is nowhere to hide
Snatching out my hand with the quickness
Only I can watch no one else can ever witness
If you could see you wouldn’t want to miss
Squeezing the living life out as if the dark reaper
All the sight to me is a given keeper
Once the last stretch is now near
Like closing the lid on your casket your time is now hear
Inside you are now trapped and with no escape
This is your final doom this is your fate
You can’t escape because it’s your death date.

INCARCERATED TEARS
Curt A Rivard Sr Dec 2019
Separating myself from the outside world and that's my choice, as I'm penning these words, I'm listening to, my inner voice.

I'm fighting for my freedom, I'm fighting for my life, I'm fighting real hard so again I can then be with my kids, and my beautiful wife.

It's in times like these, that you feel the pain from all your falls, so no one sees my tears, I hide under my blanket and weep at night, deep within...these concrete walls.

Free to Fly
Curt A Rivard Sr Dec 2019
The song of the swallow is heard, I listen as the angel sings. Pleading for love from thee, please no more, don't cut my wings.

Words of love are written you are the author, it is your inner voice. The lessons in life you taught me, now makes my heart rejoice.

All your dreams I'll give unto you, each and everyone. You are now free to fly. Follow your heart, chase the setting sun.

If you should ever get lost along the way and later find your way back to me, it will only prove to thee... Yes, we were always meant to be.

Unforgettable
Curt A Rivard Sr Dec 2019
I stood there watching you as I left.  Trying hard to memorize you, knowing it would be so very important to me.
The way you looked, the way you looked.
Soon someday, I will hear your voice again and that days singing will come soon.
Man can not make a pill that would let me sleep without your memory or written erotically enough to forget about you.
These months will go by-
for all I'll remember is...
what it was, as well as, what it will be...
And that my love, you will want to see.

Tree of Life
Curt A Rivard Sr Dec 2019
Tonight my love, I seek out to fulfill my most passionate dream,
capturing your beauty with these words, I'm now penning this poem, for laying before my eyes, heaven has now been seen.

Thy locks of hair are finer than the finest feathers of all the flocks.

Thy eyes are diamonds that saw and found favor in thee,
my promise to you, I'll prove to you, just what you mean to me.

Thy lips are soft and taste so sweet, nothing in this world can come close to compare like when ours gently touch together and then slowly meet.

Thy ******* are well rounded and are so full of life, the love they produced sustained life, the perfect mother, my beautiful wife.

Thy hands move in such a caring way, forever will I long for there touch, each and everyday.

Thy hips have carried and brought forth fruit unto me, so deep the seed planted as were together joined as one, we will live on forever for you let me plant inside you, our very own, family tree.

Thy feet have walked side by side all along the way, never will we forget, for in all our hearts your nurturing memory will always stay.

For all that you are and for all that you have done, I just want you to know, I will always love you and you will always be... the only one.
