with foaming heavenly froth
to the rising bubbles which,
kiss my lips all smooth
Oo I cherish thy kisses

A drink isn't hard to swallow,
but a divorce, a lost child, death, they are.
The wind comes up, blows away dreams,
ends marriages, sifts through plans,
hopes, throws out what it wants.

A drink isn't hard to swallow,
but growing old, pain, dying dogs, they are.
The wind comes up, tears our garments,
exposes our frailties, our nakedness,
thoughtlessly shreds our defenses.
At times like these
A drink isn't hard to swallow.

***** voraciously vacates my mind
Slowly slipping slyly swooning
A drink I drank delirious and dumb
Never nearing, nothing but numb
For faint I felt a fleeting feeling
Till I tipped back a bit from the tap

Alcohol has always been an ally a la
Loves lost labors misplaced and lame
I'll drink to that and sink to that
And take a few shots more
And maybe then it will be like before

One pint of the cold dark social drink
Two pints I start to stop and think

Three pints            ...four pints
                                              ...five pints more
Nine pints        dancing
                                         round
                                  the
                      floor

Ten pints...                 I stop to...
                                   start and

think

...I need
           a few                more
                        pints
      to                                               drink!
