Rejecting thoughts he'd disappear forever,
a phantom glides around the mortal scene;
His earthly voyage takes him many places,
through every nook and corner's vast terrain.
Bewitched by all the different worldly wonders,
he's captivated by sheer delicacy in flight;
And subtle hints from lavender filled pastures,
are scents he's never known before tonight.
Randomly he follows all the children,
while admiring their playfulness and joy;
Soon establishing a feeling of connection,
with every little girl and little boy.
They smelled as honeysuckle would (had he ever known it),
with cheery smiles scampering off to their own homes;
So elated to find the gift of immortality,
through voices of the cherubs' mortal tone.
And soon the time did come for his surrender,
to greater forces from the sky above;
But in his viscous soul he'll still remember,
a world of beauty singing graceful songs.
