Everybody called her
her baby's momma

She could never see so straight
always crooked
winding up in the slammer
apologizing all over the place

She's got a handle on it this time
moved into a clean and sober house
going to those meetings five days a week

But her eyes they burned,
You know
Her eyes they burned

Made a mistake
Went to see her ex old man
Got strung out again on that ******

Thrown out of the house
for nodding out,
coffee cup in hand,
never spilled a drop

She's back out on the street
Looking for the woman's emergency  night shelter
Texting with her daughter
trying to repair their relationship
saying
"It'll be okay this time"
She's got her brand new teeth,
a two day voucher to The Days Inn
It'll be okay.

Always the nut house
if the night gets too cold
At least until the Psychiatrist figures it out
And throws her back out into the night

It's tough being human
You know
You know

Her baby's momma
She's in despair
Looking for help everywhere
Detox filled
Got a ******* for anybody
somebody named Joe
Sometimes that's all she knows

Gather's herself against the cold
Swears that tomorrow
she'll get it together
she promises you

You know

Doing everything except what you're supposed to
Deal with it tomorrow

Everybody called her
Her baby's momma

When she sees you
She's in sorrow.
Dedicated to a segment of the population, whose time is hard. Recovery is always possible.

He bursts in through the door
Most would have opened it first
But they're all the same
These radical fundamentalists
Standing alone and angry
Like blistered thumbs

Each sulphurous quotation
Boomed with idiotic solemnity
And such slobbering enthusiasm
Such glassy eyed acceptance
For every steaming edict

He insistently invades you
Because he needs to persuade you
And he longs so much to save you
Poking prodding and nagging
Pulpit punching and finger wagging
'Till your will to live is sagging

"I know and you don't !
I'm right and you're wrong !
You have to listen to me !
I am the man with a plan !
When others can't, I can ! "

So, I ponder this man with interest
His certainty speaks loud and clear
It speaks of making dreams reality
And delusional hopes that really can be
But most of all it speaks to me
Of an utter pile of ****

out of the corner of my eyes
when you don't notice
seen you be nice to homeless
men give a dollar to a crackhead
I bless
that you
are
blessed
goodness out
angel within
no doubts
I just love
you.

are automatically enrolled in some
jury
after THEY get saved

believe what they do

forget their sins

what happened behind the closed
doors with
indignation
righteous forgetfulness .

Condemning
is so easy.

That is why a god should be

IS

so forgiving.

the middle commonplace
     poor dears
weak of voice
          making minimum wage
for all the
      billionaire
investors making up Wall street
          holding in servitude
   the poor dude
trying to pay his
         child support
with no health care
    when he gave
his sanity in Iraq.
or the single mother
         sharing with the desolate faces
the disgrace of
     going to the food bank:
           the land of the free
home of the brave
has turned into the home of the rich:
oligarchy entrenches,
          that is why
i gave up
    a long time ago.
I looked back,
    once there was a middle
class.

The best is yet to come, he’d said. But you
Think that’s down the drain now after last night.
Yet it started all right, him in a good
Mood, the bottle of wine, the food prepared,

The music low, the right week, the two kids
Away. You’d even put on the new dress
he’d bought, bright red, but a little short, but
He didn’t mind, he said it made you look

Sexier and more desirable. You
Never brought up your husband’s demise last
Year, you mentioned it on the first date, he
Just said, too bad, nothing more. You’d put your

Late husband’s photo in the drawer out of
Sight. After the wine and meal and warm shared
Conversation on the sofa and hot
Kisses and holds, you both transferred to the

Bedroom and quickly undressed and made love.
Or rather you didn’t, at least not how
You thought of it before, he treated you
Like some downtown *****, even beat you up

Once or twice or more leaving you ******,
Soaked and ******. The best is yet to come, he’d
Said the first time you met and he normal
And kind and quite the regular guy. That

Was before last night and the awful ***,
The split lip and black eye. You stare out of
The window at the rising day and the
Sunlight and think of better days before

Last night and the fall from grace. No more of
That, no more of him, no more of that ****.
You won’t see him anymore, the *******
You don’t care for him no more, not one bit.

everyone's talking
about freedom of speech

as if it should come at no cost
like something you teach

it's never been that way
and it never will be

we need to be reminded
of what it means to be free.

Good or Evil?
Thousands of Americans saved.
Sacrificed in one second
were Japanese children,
Is killing ever just?
Proportional
may not be sufficient.
Is it better
in the end to  ****
or be killed.
How do we answer?
Conceive loving
the words of the Bible,
many times contrary,
An eye for an eye
or Thou Shalt not ****.
How to moralize or defend
so many deaths.

Let a company that according to an article on Yahoo, "reported net profit of 620.1 million through Feb. 1, 2014" paid their CEO, some poor soul named Ronald Sargent, " 10.8 million in total compensation", let's stand by when they say in response to our president's comments about how they limit their employees to 25 hrs a week, "Unfortunately, the president appears not to have all the facts".....
let all of America work no more than 25 hrs, I am ******, so companies and rich CEO's and all the rich investors can get richer while their employees suffer. American way?
The president had plenty of facts for me.

a whim I thought riding about
how numerous are the title loan places
and we are getting where pharmacies
outnumber convenience stores

I used to see on every corner a bar
or a massage parlor
a fast food place

I am going so hungry I'm going now to
the corner to pawn my ambien
for some food.
