Well, the heart is a lonely hunter
Sweets for my sweet
Sweet surrender

P.S. But if you want to know, It's in his kiss
1- Sweet Someone,  from an Art and Dottie Todd song from the fifties
2- from a Reba McIntire song
3- from a Drifters song
4- from some song by Elvis

Those hampers for all my ***** clothes
and to sit on
and to move when I move rooms
and to run my hands over
their wooden webbing
and those wooden hangers
so I won't contemplate suicide
by choking myself to death
with a metal hanger
and to put my precious
tweed suit on
and oh the vanilla dixie cup
with all it's classisism
as a reward
for just being in my room -
in my room, in my room!
Get it.
Utter nonsense but an interesting
insight into my youth.

Out there at high tide
The force of almost a tidal wave
Getting hit hard by
Makes me crave
Some Florida orange juice
Eat a capon
And go out into the water at low tide
To tell the truth
With a batman cape on
Just to know my lies
If any
I heard they're many
But maybe white lies
About my service experiences
And immediate response to something in
A cigarette obviously

I was very unhappy there for 3 or 4 years in a row during the baseball season,
when the Yankees made the playoffs just once in 4 years.
I live and die with the Yankees during the baseball season.
The combination of Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez in they're as good as they seem just might lead to a World Championship this year.
I know that's unrealistic
but I can dream.
Their starting pitcher probably
won't hold up;
Ellsbury and Gardner might putter out and Hadley might falter as well.
Holiday and Curtis might not do so well and Greg Bird might not pan out.
But you never know - they're learning how to win
the Yankee way.

I daydream that the
recruiters go out of their way
not to promise dates and even
marriage with **** Nordic blond
beautiful co-eds for the players.
I daydream that they the recruiter bring
in local so-called cool jet set
types to add spice to the recruiting
process.
I daydream that the recruiters
take notice of whether the local
layout of the campus is ideal for the players
and that they show 'em around
the campus and in the city or town (including
"campus town") of the respective schools.
I daydream that they definitely
don't promise under the table money
and everything is on the up and up.
I daydream that they
emphasize the liberal arts programs
of the respective colleges
and suggest to the players that the
combination of a good liberal arts education
and skills learned in sports could lead to a good position later on.
I daydream that they emphasize
the building up of what I call
the two key faces of college football
and basketball programs - depth
and balance of the players.
I daydream that they emphasize
that the players obey conduct rules.
I daydream that they emphasize
the well-roundedness of their
respective programs.

I say it's tarnished because it's been through the ugliness of the sixties, what with the divisiveness the Vietnam War caused.

I have an acquaintance who has a t-shirt that says "these colors don't bleed" and then shows the American flag.

I say they're bleeding now because of the unnecessary blood shed by our boys in Vietnam mixing perhaps with the red blood of America as symbolized by the red stripes on the flag. All because there were these chicken-**** draft dodgers, at least in my own opinion, who with their squawking about serving seemed to egg the war on and on and the unnecessary bloodshed it caused.

I do respect the symbolic nature of the beauty of the American flag and can recall when I was still rather patriotic suggesting to my father, a retired West Point combat army colonel, to get a flag pole in our front yard at one of the houses we lived in the Champaign-Urbana area and fly the flag every day long before it was done even in other parts of the country.

I could be wrong there. Anyway there was an article in the local paper about it that near as I can remember implied that or else it was at least a first for Champaign-Urbana according to what they said.

I think I'm getting patriotic enough again to definitely want the flag to not be burned, etc.

Yeah, me and the flag these days

Brrr
As the ice drops drop
from gutters,
as I make my way
along
on my missions.
It's so cold
sometimes;
I just don't know how
to bundle up right
how I got the chills
especially
when I don't know
what to do or where to go
when I first get the shivers
from the brrr cold.
There are all sorts or nuances
to being out in the cold
that drive me to
frustration,
drive me batty really,
like how the temperature
drops suddenly at duck and rises barely at dawn
how little drops people
in behavior
are spawned
how you just can't even yawn
and wait to see
on the road a fawn
Oh well that's
probably not scratching
the surface
in everything
apparently
but that's life
best I can do
on how to deal with the cold.

if I let you know that I am well
influenced you to the enph degree what would
you do?
If I let you know how you can fall hopelessly
in life easily like me what would you do?
If I let you know I love your bluntness
with me about aspects of me what would you do?
If I let a slew of people know that
i'm impressed with their taste inspire
of them being name preppy and social
compare maybe what would they do?
If I let Donald Trump know i'm envious
of his stretching out his neck for the U.S.
what would he do?
When a medical professional might let
me know that "that's not good" about
connecting "wrong with me" and that all about
me do I still consider them as reassuring
me that they're concerned about my in basic health?
If I got "secret pills" now that I feel
there's awesome love retrieved us what
would they do?
so much for that

Or was it the fourth.
my thirst to be an artist was
upended there
but I still try to do pure impressionistic,
faintly descriptive sketches
and still want to do watercolor landscapes
I was, though, in my element 5 or so years ago
doing sketches of famous people
and writing a small poem next to them on the same page
on the suggestion of my sister Nancy.
Great art dumbfounds me, it's so majestic
and especially complicated next to mine.
I still want to work with clay
and always wanted to be a sculpture
The French impressionists are my favorite
followed by classical great architecture
and the renaissance art.
I do like detail when it's somebody else doing it
but not when it's me
at least lately.
With my kind of glossing over things,
I'll never be remembered.
For sure Andy Warhol will.

I like my silliness sometimes

and my utter seriousness
with tongue in cheek sometimes
just to add a little - like I say
my father called it - sense of humor.

An emphasis on how *******
should be prevented in civilizations
if at all possible - once again.

I'm trying to be funny -
cause we don't want a
decline and fall of the
American Empire
but the police - man's other
best friend besides a dog -
will prevent that
which brings me to this - what
my sister dear calls
perverts or this ****** harrassment business
is being made too big of a deal out of
not that it's a doable offense but
some of us don't like a crime wave
of old men after all.

I remember black guys in junior high
used to say that
and I didn't know exactly what they meant.
I still don't.
But it's an expression that sounds
like it'd make good rhymes.
Here goes.

"I'm wise
not in disguise
I may be shy and a wiseguy
but at least I'm not Captain Blye
Pay the way to the real magic bounty
apparently occasion during the
Vietnam War it seemed implied
by the underlining of the soul article content
in that Bruce Springsteen on the
cover of Time Magazine issue that came out that
seemed to start off the revolution
of the summer of '68
an issue I picked up with the underlying
when I landed on 1st St.
an open psych ward that summer
So one of us is a traitor and the real
Fletcher Christian - that's all the
underlying meant - of all of us
who were into the name.
But it sure wasn't me, I'm not a Navy type
butcher, though big girl there, Army brat
through and through
Yes Sir Captain Blye
I'm arise
and not in disguise
or Louis Nye
and Sigma Chi
and the dunce the Fly
and the desire to move up to the sky
and us guys
who like to get a little high
****, the squares call it,
though to me it's natural
so I won't make any lately
and about thinking I'm one of the guys
Yeah the Mighty High of Joy's song
Captain Blye
a man named SKy
and the fictional Joe Clay called a ****
back at the U of Ketchum
I think was it's name
but that was just implied."

Tom Petty passes away - sorry to hear that
Tears come to my eyes...of al the so-called
zeepugglesoeyes I liked him and the Heartbreakers the best
and that song When I Found You makes me think
he picked me up in Northern Florida
or Georgia hitchhiking and he was around a curve
out of desperation and internal despair
and picking me up inspired him to write the song -
once again I'm probably imagining things.
Lately I'm imagining I fathered whole 30 kids
through my wife and sowing some wild oats
much later after we got divorced
Lately all the critiquing my poetry
that I like I feel is with good intention
and the critiques are just
just trying to help me cope
with this present day matrix or morass of my childhood
that they might think they have a bead on
even though I find the whole thing sorta
uncivilized. I probably think I'm
somehow through the whole thing
being psychic.
That's it for now.

Fancying myself a sophisticated gentleman, I like to lobby sit.
I have favorite spots like the Palmer House Hotel lobby in Chicago
where I'd even light a cigar and smugly read the Chicago Tribune
in one of their leather chairs
or else when the Yankees
or other visiting pro sports teams
were in town buy a Milky Way
and the Sporting News at the newsstand
hoping to rub elbows
with some of the players
as they paused there
on the way to their rooms.
I can also remember sitting there
one time gaping at the Embassy Room marquise
when it advertised the Supremes singing there -
I also liked to lobby sit in the lobby of the Aster Hotel
near Times Square where our family would stay
on trips to New York
and maybe catch a glimpse of say a new phenomenon -
then a bag lady as she wandered in looking for a place to take a load off
or else I hoped to see some Band standers from Philadelphia come through
as they were there in New York spending the weekend
to appear on **** Clark's Live Saturday Night Show from New York.
Also I enjoy sitting in lobbies of the Desert Inn and Siam City in Fort Lauderdale
listening for the Yankees serve on the Clure Migas sports segment
on the late night news
or else sitting in the lobby of the Ordillone Hotel on Miami Posada
watching the McCarthy hearings.
One time when I was lobby sitting at the local Ramada Inn Hotel in Champaign
some Champaign police came in and ordered me out
and said something to the effect of "if you want to lobby sit, go up to Chicago and do it
but not here - this can barely be called a small city"
But yeah the satisfaction of lobby sitting in general.

Yeah 'em in the nose and in the

Yeah 'em having landed on a dark

OOO I'm losing you
But we win against ISIS

I'm sure the dust will clear

Just time a lot to spend the moment

or kissing some night here and there
into the dawn.
Honesty is the key,
giving notice to the person asking to see
whether you charge a fee or not
just being interested in little ol' me
Ask if they're gonna let you be
when the time comes
or hate you and tell
you whether or not to sell
yourself on something that you
wouldn't be able to do.
You want though to come and be
as in a pair
and have them make you
think you're part of a stable.
Courage is important
and cleanliness just as important
I've just scratched the surface.
