I wrote these words down
Tryin’ my best to please
Wishing I could write them
In classic Dylanese
But I’m not even close
Don’t say I am, to appease
‘Cuz Dylan makes me genuflect
While dusting off my knees

To make a comparison
Would clearly be a joke
I’d have to say that Dylan’s style
Borders on baroque
His lyrics are full of substance
While mine are full of smoke
And he’s become rich from his
While I remain still broke

Every writer needs a mentor
If not, then a muse
To spark their imagination
Or to light their fuse
Better that it come from them
Than from drugs or *****
So you will forgive me
If it’s Dylan that I choose

This might appear to you
As aimless chitter chatter
And while that may be true
It really doesn’t matter
‘Cuz you don’t have a clue
Whether it’s the former or the latter
And it makes no nevermind to me
If you disparage or you flatter

If we think of him
As the Easter bunny
Guess it was alright
For him to ***** that honey
And to keep her quiet
Pay her some money
Hoping she’d go on a trip
To some place sunny

Give her an agreement
Not to disclose
What went on between ‘em
And then case closed
Why should she reveal
What nobody else knows
Or tell what he looks like
Without his clothes

He had an election
Just a month away
So to avoid detection
He couldn’t have her say
Although his wife was pregnant
They agreed to play
Pajama games together
Like it was okay

To someone used to
Grabbing ‘em by the crotch
Without an excuse
Like he was drinking scotch
He was just ratcheting up
Another notch
But a man in his position
Is always watched

It’s not that he’s
So easy to assail
But Donald Trump needs to be
Perp- walked to jail
Where his thin orange  skin
Can suddenly turn pale
And his lifestyle can suddenly
Begin to fail

Impeachable charges
Lodged against him twice
But his Republican supporters
Wouldn’t roll the dice
This was upon
Mitch McConnel’s advice
Because on the head of his party
It wouldn’t look nice

So twice Trump was able
To dodge a bullet
Cause no one had the courage
To even pull it
And you and i must admit
Nothing about him suggests he will quit
But when the Marshals arrest him
He’ll have to submit

Just imagine
Him doing time
In a six by ten cell
For an assortment of crime
Then life would have a reason
As well as a rhyme
Like it always has
In the annals of time

They were there
In the lean times together
The in between times
They  helped each other weather
No we won’t forget them ever
Music was their endeavor
And it will be with us forever
Until the twelfth of never

They were two fifths
Of the mighty Temptations
Which earned them
Lots of standing ovations
All over the world
In many nations
They shook the
Music industry’s foundations

And this ode
Is not written for nothing
Cuz Eddie Kendricks
And  David Ruffin
Were as smooth
As butter on a muffin
And should always be
Part of the discussion

Both of these men
Are long gone
But their memories
Will linger on
Today, tomorrow
And beyond
So if you agree
Then respond

I can’t say for certain
What might have been
But I think about it
Every now and then
Cos no one ever got
Underneath my skin
The way you did
So I can’t pretend

You know that you had me
Totally sprung
When you French kissed me
With your tongue
My brain got scramnled
Like egg fu yung
And I loved the way
How it was done

I got caught up
In your spider’s web
I gave you my love
For your pretense instead
I think you’d agree
With everything I said
Though that was long ago
So why wake up the dead

You know that you had me
Totally sprung
When you French kissed me
With your tongue
My brain got scramnled
Like egg fu yung
And I loved the way
How it was done

It’s my fault
I guess you could say
So why did I
Bring it up anyway
Certain things die
While the memories stay
How could I forget you
Anyhow anyway

You know that you had me
Totally sprung
When you French kissed me
With your tongue
My brain got scramnled
Like egg fu yung
And I loved the way
How it was done

I can’t say for certain

Times have changed, I have to admit
But some things are still sacred from where I sit
In the face of convention you hoc n' spit
That's why your agenda gives me a fit

Embrace the now some people say
Whether lesbian, bi, transgender or gay
What does it matter any ol' way
But just because you're in love doesn't make it's okay

I'm at least entitled to an opinion too
Even if that opinion opposes your view
You're outside of the norm you know it's true
Only heed what I'm saying if it applies to you

Embrace the now some people say
Whether lesbian,bi,  transgender or gay
What does it matter any ol' way
But just because you;re in love doesn't make it okay

Don't call me  homophobic as many of you do
Cos' I'm not the one passing judgment on you
Doing what you want to makes perfect sense
If you're prepared to pay the consequence

If I stopped and picked a quote from the Devine
And you know there are many that I could find
You'd probably accuse me of bias or lying
But let's see which one of us ends up frying

Embrace the now some people say
Whether lesbian, bi, transgender or gay
What does it matter any ol' way
But just because you're in love doesn't make it okay
Embrace The Now is admittedly politically incorrect, but represents a point of view that has been rejected by the politically correct crowd.  All points of view have validity.  It depends on one's perspective.

They’re empty words
That have no meaning
From a man
Who’s been convening
Sycophants
That you’ll find leaning
Towards his message
Of spring cleaning

Immigrants he says
Are bad
From his perspective
When you add
Chain migration
Past the dyad
Of the nuclear family
It’s a launching pad

Give him his wall
And so he says
He’ll spare them all
‘Cos he’s the Pres’
As long as they’re
Not named Valdez
Or they’re not
From places like Juarez

He wants us all
To kumbaya
But that may be
A bridge too far
For most to ever
Reach that bar
Because he takes things
Much too far

I don’t want
His empty words of sympathy
Or for that matter
His empathy
They’re meaningless
Don’t cha see
If a stonger follow up
Is not to be

I don’t want
Him just to visit me
To express his condolences
Cuz words are free
Doing something
Would be key
Besides blaming it
On insanity

So where the hell
Has he been
He was forced
Just to weight in
On a matter that
Should have been
Devoid of spin
But then it wasn’t his next of kin

Sometimes I wonder
What’s the use
For a president
He’s a poor excuse
He should be thrown out
With the rest of the refuse
Because he's garbage
I’m forced to deduce

I can write
A thousand lines
And still
Not change any minds
Of those who live
Behind closed blinds
And are adverse
To certain signs

I can be
Oh, so Profound
With the words
That I expound
But how can I
Bring them around
If what I say
Does not resound

I can try
As I may
And still fail
To convey
What it is
I’m trying to say
When closed minds
Get in the way

I can yell
‘Til the cows come home
Or sit down and write
An epic tome
And the meaning still
Would remain unknown
Unless their understanding
Has grown

He’s estranged from us
He’s desperate and he’s dangerous
And he’s very strange to us
As we fight for the change we must
Had he done what was required
He might have been rehired
And even been admired
For the vaccine he inspired

He’s estranged from us
And not the kind that instills trust
Cuz he engenders our disgust
And he’s too quick to combust
He’s not the man that he used to be
So he’s been fired unceremoniously
At last we the people are finally free
Of his unique brand of skullduggery

He’s estranged from us
Consequently he’s been left in the dust
By a man that people really can trust
As previously discussed
Don’t kick a dog when he’s down
But hisf breed need to be in the ground
And I’m well aware how this may sound
Cuz the truth is commodity that’s rarely found

He’s estranged from us
Cuz he’s the god in which he trusts
Who’s so full of himself that he might bust
Or be trampled on like old sawdust
Pretty soon he will be gone
Heartbroken and also forlorn
Cuz he hasn’t upheld the oath he’s sworn
And tomorrow represents a brand new dawn

Every day
He’s on the news
This person
That I didn’t choose
I happen not to
Share his views
No I won’t watch him
I refuse

Every day
It’s battle stations
See, we’re among
The few nations
That believes in
Isolation
And policies of
Obfuscation

Every day
We’re looking to
See what that fool
Chose to do
See he he don’t have
The slightest clue
About the things
We thought he knew

Every day
The insults fly
Never mind
The reasons why
He’ll come up with
An alibi
Or another
Outright lie

He was slaughtered
Like a sheep
Now he's laid down
So he can sleep
He’s onward bound
So don’t cha weep
Just dig his grave
Six feet deep

His time on earth
May have been short
Before the fuselage
Was caught
Let’s hope his life
Wasn’t for naught
And there’s a lesson
To be taught

Violence caught him
Oh so young
And it cannot
Be undone
I hope he had
A little fun
Before the end
Of his run

Every life
Has a season
His was taken
Without good reason
He was dead before
He got his keys in
His car’s ignition
Because of treason

At an early age you were sexually abused
Which I know is something that you didn’t choose
So it’s no wonder how come you’re confused
Because your mind and body were so badly bruised
And I know the feeling that you must have inside
Like I know that feeling cannot be denied
Even though a part of you has already died
It should never come down to committing suicide

You have mixed emotions
Playing with your head
That you can’t seem to shake
Despite the things I’ve said
So you start questioning
Where it all has led
Every single time
That you go to bed

It never seems to leave you after all these years
You’ve probably lost count of all of the tears
That you’ve shed in recognition of your inner fears
But as bad as it is - it’s not as bad as it appears
Ya see you can recover though it may take a while
And you can rediscover a good reason to smile
A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first mile

There are things in life
That tends to make us numb
But it’s that kind of pain and strife
That we must overcome
So even thought it may be
Easier said then done
It’s a war worth fighting
And it can be won

Everything I do
I do for you
And I do confess
That I do my best
To keep it brand new
In and out of season
I bring you flowers
For no reason

Everything I do
I do for you
Simple as it sounds
It’s no less true

Everything I do
I do for you
Can’t you see
That you inspire me
In ways you never knew
You’re my rhyme
And reason
The one that I love squeezing

Everything I do
I do for you
Simple as it sounds
It’s no less true

You’d be amazed
How well that I know you
There’s a thousand ways
That I try to show you
I know what you like
And what you desire
My sole ambition is
To elevate you higher

Everything I do
I do for you
A glance from you
I interpret as a que
For me to do
Whatever you want me to
Just suggest it
And I’ll follow through

Everything I do
I do for you
Simple as it sounds
It’s no less true

Everything I do
I do for you
And I do confess
That I do my best
To keep it brand new
In and out of season
I bring you flowers
For no reason

Everything I do

Simple as it sounds
It’s no less true

Everything that Trump touches dies
And every day Sarah Huckabee lies
To keep her job if I had to surmise
Even though she should go and cut ties
What will she do after he’s impeached?
Be a stay at-home-mom who’s overreached
Because obviously decorum’s been breeched
Like a whale stuck on shore she’ll be beached

That brings us to Kellyanne Conway
Lying to her is merely child’s play
She tries her best to have the last say
While keeping the press safely at bay
Though her reputation will not be in tact
That’s not conjecture, it’s an actual fact
Not an alternative hatched to distract
But a reality that can be backed

Now if you want someone who is iller
We can begin with Steven Miller
Who could have been cast in MJ’s Thriller
He’s definitely not a lady killer
I guess we could call him a policy wonk
If you agree with me, let me hear you honk?
Were he a horse he’d be a bronc
And if he played cards he’s lose at Poker and Tonk

Everything that Trump touches dies
Cuz he is surrounded by the unwise
Who cling to him like family ties
They’re addicted to power no one denies
Let’s look at all of the president’s men
Like Manafort, Cohen and what about Flynn
And let’s look at all the doo doo they’re in
But I’m at my wit’s end as to where to begin

Every woman who comes forward
Needs to be heard
Although their silence
Might be what’s preferred
By the men who take advantage
Though it rarely occurs
That they might clap back
Despite denials and slurs

Every woman who comes forward
Whatever the time
Has every right to report
A long-ago crime
She’s still entitled to
Drop a dime
In an effort to unmask
The unrepentant slime

Every woman who comes forward
Should be listened to
Although that’s what some men
Are reluctant to do
Let’s face it some men
Are missing a *****
And their behavior
Is the only clue

Every woman who comes forward
Emboldens another
Who wouldn’t be talking
If not for the other
It can be scary
For a certain kind of brother
When faced with the bad news
That he’d like to smother

Do you believe
That evil exists
When it’s right there
In your midst
Or is the thought of it
Dismissed
And not even on
Your checklist

Do you believe
That evil’s alive
Cuz there’s evidence
It’s been revived
By the way that they
Scheme and connive
In an effort
To try to deprive

Do you believe
That it’s good politics
To resort to
All sorts of tricks
In order to thwart
Who he picks
It’s akin to saying
Mock nix

Do you believe
That they would expose
Their slings
As well as arrows
By the tactic
That they clearly chose
To insure
That the seat gets froze

Evil is as evil does
That’s the way it always was
It’s latest manifestation
Involves us a nation
As the President
Summarily divorces
Immigrants
Who joined the armed forces

They placed their lives
On the line
For the path to citizenship
They hoped to find
In this country
That they love
Now push unfortunately
Has turned to shove

Their quest for citizenship
Sadly denied
Because obviously
Somebody lied
About the promise
They cannot hide
So is it fair?
I’ll let you decide

The President
Seems to be hellbent
On promoting
His anti-immigrant sentiment
Especially if they’re
Brown or black
And that’s
An unmitigated fact

Facebook has chosen
To avoid their shame
By conveniently choosing
To change their name
But despite the change
They’re still the same
Don’t they know that game
Recognises game

Their sole concern
Is a profit margin
So they don’t care
About us disparaging
Their right to exist
Or their integrity
Which is suspect
‘Far as I can see

Meta is their
Brand’s new name
But it’s still Facebook
Just the same
So don’t buy into
Their tricknology
Or their novel approach
To psychology

Meanwhile
There’s the same disregard
For those
Who’ve been hit extra hard
By their callousness
And lack of concern
Makes one wonder
If they’ll ever learn?

Facebook defends
The unjust ends
Of their political friends
Especially those who spend
Untold millions
Cuz they make gazillions
Like land-hungry Brazilians
By misleading civilians

In the name of free speech
The lesson they teach
Because of their reach
And the ethics they breech
Is that Mark Zuckenberg
Is more than absurd
With his every word
Guess he hasn’t heard

Twitter will no longer do it
You see they now eschew it
While he just says ***** it
How come I knew it
He's a greedy *******
I see that he's mastered
How being elastic
Makes him feel fantastic!

So he keeps counting his money
Like their Easter bunny
He may think that’s sunny
But it’s not very funny
So a word to the wise
Stop trying to disguise
How you aggrandize
Those that you balkanize

Factory jobs
Ain’t coming back
Unfortunately
That’s a salient fact
Trump’s statements to the contrary
He needs to retract
It won’t happen by fiat
That’s presidentially backed

Factory jobs?
I’ve got news
Have gone out of style
Like high buttoned shoes
Stop lying to the people
You’re not Howard Hughes
You haven’t created a thing
Nor have you paid dues

Factory jos
Let’s shed a tear
Are past icons
From yesteryear
All but vanished
As they disappear
They no longer exist
As you might fear

Factory jobs?
Mr.President please!
We need a hand
To get off of our knees
You don’t wanna confront
That deadly disease
Which could bring us out of
This economic freeze

How many falsely accused
Never make the news?
Still some refuse
To be disabused
From the notion
That’s in motion
Punishment wise
Demanding the accused dies

How many paid the cost,
Had their lives lost,
Based on evidence
That doesn’t make sense?
Been tried, and convicted
Had their freedom restricted
Then placed on death row
Up until they go

Was the law meant,
To convict the innocent?
Presumed guilty when caught,
As history has taught?
Have ‘em sent to the pen,
Because of the color of their skin?
And that old paradigm
They’ll serve twice as much time

Better, six go free,
Than for us to decree
That one innocent dies
Who might not otherwise
See justice demands
That we have even hands
And we should keep in mind
That it’s never been blind

Fannin’ the flames
Of deep racial division
Has become
His new found religion
And a house divided
Cannot stand
Yet he’s promoted separation
Throughout this land

Fanning the flames
Of his raw hate
Will crush us all
Underneath its weight
And while I’m at it
Let me also state
What I am sayin’
Isn’t open to debate

That boy is talkin’
Out of his annis
By saying
He’s just tryna
Be famous
He’s a Trump supporter
Who will remain nameless
Killed two and wounded one
And so he’s not blameless

He’s just one more example
Of what hate can breed
As a Trump acolyte
Who closely paid heed
He’s also guilty
Of the blood that they bleed
So we need to pray
Trump doesn’t succeed

Far be it from me
To be a debater
Or even for that matter
A prognosticator
When it comes to racism
And the melenen-challenged  hater
To their whims and fancies
I refuse to cater

Far be it from me
To sit here in judgement
Or wonder why
They seem so hell bent
On keeping the black man
As well as the brown
With their heads bowed
And necks on the ground

Far be it from me
To try to appraise
Where our country seems headed
Nowadays
If we don’t change
Our wicked ways
When we lose our democracy
Don’t be amazed

Far be it from me
While wondering out loud
Why we as a nation
Are encased in a shroud?
The God that we trust in
Doesn’t have our heads bowed
And we commit sins
That are not allowed

When you look at the man’s
Posture and his jargon
It’s clear to me, don’t cha see? that we
Had entered into a Faustian bargain
And if I may be so bold
The world did behold
That we lost our soul
To the allure of fool’s gold

So the logical deduction
For this deconstruction
Is that a change had to come,
Cuz he left us feeling numb
By representing the some
Instead of the many
See I would  be rich if I had a penny
For every time I asked, how can he?

How  can he, treat us
With such blatant disrespect?
When he was elected
To serve and protect
All of the people
Of the United States
Not just his acolytes
But also those he underates

The devil will promise you
Untold delight
If you’ll only abandon
What you know to be right
He makes everything
Seem sunny and bright
And many a fool
Has taken him light

Fear of a bad hair day
Kept the President away
From a World War 1 grave site
To the Russian leader’s obvious delight
He’s a predicate recluse
Who used rain as an excuse
For not showing up
Which we must deduce

Is part of his M O
Don’t act like you don’t know
He’s a man without class
If you will, a horse’s ***
Who promotes himself
At the expense of all else
He’s a nationalist he says
So let’s keep him in our prayers

World leaders five abreast
Walked together, but take a guess
Who was not there nonetheless
Our recalcitrant President I must confess
He’s superior in his own mind
You could argue, because he’s crazy or  blind
And before he’s finally finished
In the eyes of the world, we’ll be diminished

He’s so concerned about his hair
Because he must be unaware
Most assume he wears a wig
Because his style is oh so big
And God forbid the wind might blow
Then for sure we'll see a **** show
Tryin’ to keep it all together
Especially in inclement weather

It wasn’t ******
By intent
Said his lawyer
It was fear
Of abandonment
That compelled him
To strike her in her head
Leaving her still breathing but close to dead

Abandoned by his father
At an early age
Though his father was a drunk
It still left him enraged
Like a Bengal tiger trapped in a cage

After committing the grisly act
He traveled 100 miles
To confess in fact
Confession they say
Is good for the soul
But the police were called
Once his story was told
And arrived at the scene before the body was cold

Abandoned by his father
At an early age
Though his father was a drunk
It still left him enraged
Like a Bengal tiger trapped in a cage

The Scarsdale ******
Was what it was called
The two hailed from Yale
So the public was appalled
Ultimately justice was stalled
He got one to twenty-five
And that was all
The victim’s parents were naturally galled

In short order
He was parolled
He’s now in New Mexico
From what I’m told
Coordinating counseling
In the mental health mold
The Lord may have forgiven him
But her parents are still cold

Abandoned by his father
At an early age
Though his father was a drunk
It still left him enraged
Like a Bengal tiger trapped in a cage

It wasn’t ******
By intent
Said his lawyer
It was fear
Of abandonment
That compelled him
To strike her in her head
Leaving her still breathing but close to dead

Jesus rode into Galilee
On an ***
But today’s televangelists
Want to fly fast
To spread his word
If you were to ask
But who are they really
Behind the mask

54 million,
One’s looking for,
So he can fly everywhere
To spread the word more
He must not have heard of
The internet for sure
Or maybe he’s just greedy
Down to his core

He wants his now
Never mind the hereafter
Which provokes the angel’s
Celestial laughter
‘Cuz he’ll have no place
Up there with his Master
No floating on clouds
Made of alabaster

Many are called
But few are chosen
I see the hell fire
About to close in
Those greedy *******
Need their bank accounts frozen
They’re just hypocrites
Counting money that flows in

It started out in
The outskirts of Pittsburg
At a backyard barbeque
Where shots were heard
In the dark of night
To the angel of death’s delight
And at the conclusion of the carnage
Four men were in flight

Fifty shell casings
On the ground
Where sadly the dead
Were found
Several more
Were wounded too
When shots rang out
Before they knew

Again the smell of gun smoke
Was in the air
Cause the cowardly perpetrators
Didn’t care
They became the merchants
Of death on a dare
Guns are easy to get
So the public must beware

Fifty shell casings
On the ground
Where sadly the dead
Were found
Several more
Were wounded too
When shots rang out
Before they knew

It’s a sickness we have
And there is no doubt
That we haven’t been able
To stamp it out
With a do nothing Congress
And the NRA
It seems to be happening
Every other day

This time it was Pittsburg
Where will it be next
And don’t take a single word
Out of context
Until we can get ourselves
Out of this hex
We’ll be confronted with something
That defies intellects

Fifty shell casings
On the ground
Where sadly the dead
Were found
Several more
Were wounded too
When shots rang out
Before they knew

Finally the bar has been reached
He’s the third president we’ve impeached
And history will serve to teach
What happens when the law has been breached
I hope that you’re listening to me
He’ll go down in infamy
For the entire world to see
That Congress had him up a tree

Where it will go from here?
Is an open question, it would appear
But one thing has to be clear
He’s deserving of a Bronx cheer
Now his face is an orange tinge
And he’s become unhinged
He’s gone on a Twitter binge
Vowing to get his revenge

He’s guilty of obstruction and abuse
But he has the perfect excuse
So you won’t see him calling a truce
He continues to cook his own goose
Now he’ll go down in history
As one of a few -  only three
And the evidence was the key
That locked him to his own destiny

It no longer a reality game
So much for the brand, that’s his name
Which he’s engulfed in shame

And he’ll never be quite the same
By history he’ll be poorly judged
Now that his name has been smudged
We have to see if he’s forced to budge
Off of the ground that he’s trudged

First the rhetoric then the violence
Can we have a moment of silence
From hateful words and the alliance
Of wing-nuts urging defiance

Corporations control the people
Now it’s turned violent and gotten evil
They're just like the boll weevil
Destroying lives of common people
The rich direct the politics
With constant lies and ***** tricks
Then add sound bites into the mix
And it confuses average hicks

First the rhetoric then the violence
Can we have a moment of silence
From hateful words and the alliance
Of wing-nuts urging defiance

A Congresswoman went to town
Only to have been shot down
The bullet casings found on the grown
Suggests he fired round after round
Now that’s no way to disagree
Or show anger as the case may be
See what it is that he didn’t see
He’s was manipulated like you and me

First the rhetoric then the violence
Can we have a moment of silence
From hateful words and the alliance
Of wing-nuts urging defiance

Are you beginning to get the picture
They’ve become a permanent fixture
Add politics into the mixture
And their bromide is no elixir
For the things that clearly ail
Their prescription is made to fail
Because the argument has turned stale
And all of them should go to jail

First the rhetoric then the violence
Can we have a moment of silence
From hateful words and the alliance
Of wing-nuts urging defiance

Independent, are you sure?
Please don’t be a bore
We’ve been lied to before
We’re not listening anymore
After you’ve sealed our fate
Now you want to investigate
But it’s too little too late
For us to bite your bait

You want us to believe
Nothing’s up your sleeve
Do you think we’re naïve
Or that easy to deceive
Don’t answer the question
You’ve made your impression
Taught us quite a lesson
We’ve seen your digression

The guilty parties will pay
At least that’s what you say
While the water was still gray
You told us it was okay
Now you want to rectify
Facts you used to deny
And you really wonder why
We find it hard to buy

Now if you’re quick witted
The guilty won’t be acquitted
And the punishment will be fitted
To the crimes they’ve committed
Cuz we still can’t take a bath
And we’re frightened by the math
Someone’s got to feel our wrath
Because we’re on the war path

A robbery with
Few words said
Now their daughter
Lies there dead
From a bullet wound
To her head
Mortally wounded
Is how she bled

It was Burger King
On 116th and Lex’
After rounding up
The usual suspects
Caught on camera
So you were next
Facing the charges
One expects

Robbery
And ****** 2
All the evidence
Points back to you
Cos the police had
More than one clue
Now your life on the outside
Is all but through

Flowers and candles
Line the front
Of where you pulled
Your tragic stunt
More than police
Joined in the hunt
You deserve what you get
Just to be blunt

Flowers at their doorstep
Cards of sympathy
In recognition of a loss
That didn’t have to be
We’ve seen this movie played out
A million times before
It always ends the same way
They’re carried out the door

Flowers at their doorstep
Cards of sympathy
Their bittersweet endings
Stay in our memory
Was it their addictions
That they could not control
Or the money they received
From the records bought and sold?

Flowers at their doorstep
Cards of sympathy
But it’s the wasted talent
That becomes their legacy
Flowers at their doorstep
Cards of sympathy
Now that it’s too late
They’re where they wanna be

Flowers at their doorstep
Cards of sympathy
In recognition of a loss
That didn’t have to be
We’ve seen this movie played out
A million times before
It always ends the same way
They’re carried out the door

It’s all about money
‘Cos he doesn’t have a soul
Pound for pound he’s the best around
Though he’s still an *******
He’s amassed a fortune
All that glitters isn’t gold
And he can't take a cent with him
At least that's what I’m told

Floyd “Money” may weather
Another boxing storm
While bragging about all he’ll make
And not see nothing wrong
He’s a little hard to take
But we knew that all along
Blessed or cursed for heaven’s sake
He’s an old familiar song

All his money and possession
Hasn’t bought him happiness
Though the way he carries on
You would never guess
Which goes to prove the old adage
Sometimes more is less
Conspicuous consumption
Doesn’t make you a success

He can go to strip clubs
And then make it rain
But all the money in the world
Can’t camouflage his pain
He’s on a giant ego trip
Which perhaps explains
His lack of self-esteem
Despite the wealth he gains

Follow that car!
Riding shotgun is William Barr
On another ******
With an Oval Office agenda
Carrying the President’s water
Let’s declare him out of order
And turn on your recorder
His time is growing shorter

His flagrant impropriety
Is there for us to see
He’s called Attorney General
But we shouldn’t take it literal
We’ve watched him on his journey
As the President’s attorney
See he’s there to do his bidding
Which he doesn’t keep hidden

Look! he just turned the corner,
And I’m thinking that he’s gonna
Defend the President’s actions
Devoid of any redactions
Though they’re undefendable
He’ll still give us an ear-full
And I don’t mean to be snarky
It’s what Biden calls malarky

So, as for his legacy?
Let’s just say, search me?
I guess in time we’ll know
What history will show
Because even those who have a sequel
Should be serving the American people
But that hasn’t been the case
Since they put him back in place

For 187 minutes of
The Capitol attack
The President of the United States
Simply sat back
And watched the action unfold
Act by act
And this is not hyperbole
It’s a salient fact

For 187 minutes of
The insurrection
The President of the United States
Offered no protection
For those trapped in the Capitol
Which was stormed at his direction
Cos violence is something for which
He’s shown a predilection

For 187 minutes of
A national disgrace
Where wackos and the misguided
Ran all over the place
The President of the United States
Refused to show his face
Although he was implored to
In any case

For 187 minute of
Our nation’s history
A President of the United States’
Inaction was a mystery
As things got outta hand
And frankly more blistery
The question that it posed was
How the hell could this be?

For dues already paid
Like in Roe vs Wade
Or moves against segregation
Like Brown vs the Board of Education
He wants to reverse
The progress in our nation
If America is to be great again
Guess we’ll have to have some patience

For dues already paid
And the many tombstones laid
As we struggled to move on
From a time that’s long been gone
We seek nevertheless to go forward
Not to regress
We intend to stand fast
And we’re gonna do our best

For dues already paid
And the progress already made
We have to stay on course
To avoid any remorse
In our efforts to improve
As we increase our gains
The appointments he has made
Contributes to our pains

For dues already paid
Whose memories never fade
Far from our consciousness
We’re hoping for the best
While looking at the worst
He’s telling the whole world
America’s the country
That he places first

Forget about Isis
No matter how you slice this
Trump is the crisis
Who’s rolling the dices
It’s not the Southern border
That is causing his disorder
The entire world can see
His insanity

He’s taken the word of Putin
Over those that he’s disputing
When it comes to matters of state
They’re treated second-rate
To our collective amazement
Some say he’s a Russian agent
There's reams of evidence
And it's in the present tense

He’s a racist and xenophobe
Now the emperor has been disrobed
He stands naked in front of us all
Even before Mueeller makes his call
And the fact we have to face
Is he’s made us an international disgrace
Make America great again?
Do you really think he can?

Fellow Americans has it come to this,
Is our ignorance truly our bliss?
He’s a master at spinning a yarn
Now the horses are out of the barn
The need for the 25th Amendment
Has become nothing, if not ascendant
But even though at times he’s clever
His reign of terror will not last forever

Forget the EPA
That’s so yesterday
In time we’ll have to pay
But who cares anyway
They used to work for you and me
But not anymore don’t cha see
We have a President
Who’s hell-bent and won’t repent

Forget the CDC
Looking out for you and me
Cos they are in a rut
With their budget cut
There’s little they can do
To protect me and you
They can’t detect the latest flu
Like they used to do

Forget the DOJ
Who won’t point the way
Towards an enlightened government
Civil rights have all been spent
Now the ACLU’s out of the loop
And the fox oversees the chicken coop
They’ve been set up to fail
And progess is off the rail

Are you listening to me
What about the CPB
There’s no protection anymore
Like we used to have before
If we get ripped off  then so what
Consumer protection we haven’t got
And that’s not what will make us great
Despite the slogan he may state

Forgive me,
For this interruption
But late breaking news
Suggests that  corruption
Is the main thing
That he’s concerned about
Not just his opponent
In case you’re in doubt

So he,
Reached out to Ukraine
Not to coerce
But instead to explain
If they would oblige him
And investigate
They’d get those weapons
And not have to wait

Of course
He said there was
No quid-pro-quo
But he lies a lot
As we all know
It was a clear case
Of *** for tat
In other words this for that

See high crimes
And misdemeanor
Is all that’s required
It couldn’t be cleaner
When making a case
For impeaching a president
And Congress knows exacly
What the framers meant

Thanks for never giving up on me
You always kept your cool
Even when it was plain to see
I was acting like a fool
You’re the one who believed in me
When there was no one else
And your encouragement was the key
To making me believe in myself

Thanks for all your time and energy
And everything that you invest in me
Thanks for your words of encouragement
Especially when my head is bent

How can I ever thank you enough
For all you do and have done
For being there when it gets rough
I’m just so proud to be your son
At times you even were my crutch
That’s what everybody said
They even thought you were too much
From what I’ve heard and read

Thanks for all your time and energy
And everything that you invest in me
Thanks for your words of encouragement
Especially when my head is bent

I never would have come this far
Had it not been for you
So you deserve these accolades
And every word is true
It’s little more than the gratitude
That you’re deserving of
These are heart-felt platitudes
That are used to express my love

Thanks for all your time and energy
And everything that you invest in me
Thanks for your words of encouragement
Especially when my head is bent

You brought me closer to the goal
That I had set for myself
Right from the start you were sold
Long before anyone else
You’re the rock that gives me strength
Because of you I persevere
And I would go to any length
To let you know that I’m sincere

I never would have come this far
Had it not been for you
So you deserve these accolades
And every word is true
It’s little more than the gratitude
That you’re deserving of

The profit motive inspires our lust
Money is the god in which we trust
And justice hasn’t ever been for us
Seems like all the breaks
Go to the upper crust
Those on Wall Street love to speculate
On the backs of the middle class
Who must carry the freight

Prisons now are being run for profit
State legislatures casually adopt it
Increasingly more states are tryin’ to cop it
Is there anyone, anywhere to stop it

Neo-slavery has become big business
Avarice and greed caused them to rig this
And none among us can afford to ig’ this
Is it necessary for me to go down the pig list
As legislators continue to shoot the breeze
Like an orange Puerto Rico has been squeezed
And Islanders are forced to beg the US please
They’d just like a chance to get up off their knees

Prisons now are being run for profit
State legislatures casually adopt it
Increasingly more states are tryin’ to cop it
Is there anyone, anywhere to stop it

Some clearly might question
Has the deck been stacked
Against a certain class of people
Who have been attacked
And if they had the resources
They seem to lack
They might be better equipped
To fight back

There are certain facts here
I’ve tried to expose
That have been camouflaged
For how long God only knows
It’s high time they’re revealed
I would suppose
And that’s the role here
That I must have chose

Prisons now are being run for profit
State legislatures casually adopt it
Increasingly more states are tryin’ to cop it
Is there anyone, anywhere to stop it

The profit motive inspires our lust
Money is the god in which we trust

For the good of the party
They need to reassess
Who’s holding the trump card
In case they haven’t guessed
The party of Lincoln and Reagan
Has become so much less
But who is nominated ultimately
Will be the final test

For the good of the party
They need to disavow
The frontrunner’s shenanigans
They need to do it now
The whole world is listening
And watching his offensive style
He alienates everyone
We’ve known it for a while

For the good of the party
They  need to call a halt
By rejecting everything he says
Succinctly his gestalt
If he’s perceived as a racist
It’s totally his fault
The whole world’s sensibility
Has come under his assault

For the good of the party
They cannot let him claim
That he’s truly one of them
Because he’s not the same
He is so objectionable
That the word I used is tame
But when we get right down to it
The party must share the blame

For those of you asking
“What’s the fuss?”
George Floyd could have been
Anyone of us
Which explains why the bystanders
Pleaded and cussed
But the officer refused
To acknowledge and adjust

For those who are thinking
He was a big man
You’d be correct
But what I don’t understand
Is once the situation
Was well in hand
Why did he choose
To torture that man?

For those who are looking
For a convenient excuse
To look the other way
And ignore the abuse
That Mr. Floyd was
Subjected to
If justice is to prevail
That’s impossible to do

For those of you who
Just can’t relate
To how George Floyd
Met his untimely fate
And would be inclined
To give the cop
The benefit of the doubt
It’s time for you to simply tap out

If law enforcement’s not respected
Even by those that we’ve elected
How are we to be protected
Or should crime just be neglected
If we cry ****** every time
The police respond to a crime
It’s like the boy/woof paradigm
See eventually they’ll stop tryin’

I’m not making no excuses
For the occasional abuses
And if that’s what on deduces
Then their rational is useless
I’m only making the argument
That for most their true intent
Is to protect and serve without relent
Consider all the time they’ve spent
Risking their lives to represent

Fact of the matter they are needed
And their instructions shouldn’t go unheeded
If they’re wrong you’ll probably beat it
So there’s no need to get heated
You have rights but let me state
It’s better you cooperate
Rather then to engage in a debate
That might serve to seal your fate

We should be happy that they are there
As you and I are well aware
We suffer the most despair
From crime that’s almost everywhere
It makes you start to realize
They’re there to catch the bad guys
Which shouldn’t come as a surprise
For those who look with open eyes

Do we really want
Four more years,
Of carnage and tears,
Of uncertainty and fears?
Or should we switch gears
And leave behind the smears
And those rally cheers
That just hurt our ears

He's the Chosen One
Some call him God's son
But what has he done
To prevent a gun
From killing someone
Yet he having fun
And still wants to run
Wish it was a pun

Words I won't mince
'Cuz he makes no sense
So I can't continence
And thus I say hence
I'd give half a pence
Or pay whatever the expense
To discover what's in the rinse
Behind his picket fence

Four more years
Just wouldn't be cool
Under his autocratic rule
I'd have to be your average fool
To vote for someone that vain and cruel
And I refuse to be used as a foot stool
Or swim inside his contaminated pool
When nothing about him makes me drool

Four o’clock in the morning,
It finally came to me
Why we are seeing
Some of the things we see
People in the streets protesting
Demonstrating their misery
From the deadly repetition
That never has to be

Four o’clock in the morning,
suddenly I have clarity
Yesterday it was George Floyd
Tomorrow it could be me
Racism is at the root
Of the unwarranted brutality
So the question we must ask,
Is are any of us free?

Four o’clock in the morning
It’s the bewitching hour
When I turn the news back on
The situation’s dour
Cuz it’s a tug and pull
Where each side wants the power
And one side is out gunned
So the other is forced to cower

Four o’clock in the morning
And the White House has been silent
The country is going up in smoke
Amid the turmoil and the violence
We’re in need of some national leadership
But it hasn’t been forthcoming
You see the President has lost his grip
And it’s clearly numbing
