(Verse-1)
Can a broken heart be mended
If it’s torn
Cos the love of his life
Is gone?
Or will he just have to somehow learn
How to move on (how to move on)
Despite the fact
That the curtain has been drawn?

(Verse-2)
That chapter of his life
Has been closed
Though memories linger
I suppose
But that’s how
It sometimes goes (sometimes goes)
Still the heartache
Always shows (still shows)

(Bridge)
Can a broken heart be mended
If it’s torn
Cos the love was rescinded
Now long gone?
Does It just make you
Feel forlorn
Or do you
Start to thinkingl you’ve been scorned?

(Verse-3)
Ya can’t help but think
Of your past
When you thought
That your love would last
But now that the dye
Has been cast
Forever seems to go by
Too fast

(Verse-4)
So the question
Still remains
Through the echols
Of The refrains
Constantly
The memory pains
Cos she always
Stays on your brains

(Outro)
Can a broken heart be mended
If it’s torn
Cos the love of his life
Is gone?
Or will he just have to somehow learn
How to move on (how to move on)
Despite the fact
That the curtain has been drawn?

Can't is a word
That you should never say
Though it's often heard
It can get in the way
Of all of the things
That a person can do
If they only tried
And had a mind to

You can do anything
If you insist
That what can't be done
Does not exist
People have achieved
All kinds of things
By believing they could
Do what CAN brings

But can't is a word
That stops you from trying
A crutch, an excuse
On which you're relying
Now is the time to understand
The most powerful two words
Are YES and I CAN!

Our three branches of government
Can’t pass the smell test
When all sides are embroiled
In a partisan mess
Because of our despot
As you might have guessed
With him the rule of law
Is hardly ever stressed

So much for the three branches
Being coequal
When they get caught up
In this kind of *****
All we can do
Is pray there’s no sequel
And we can return to
A government of the people

He betrays the laws of the land
That he swore to protect
Which is a clear sign
Of his gross disrespect
Or a testament to his
Challenged intellect
Which points to the fact
That he has to be checked

The accepted norms, which is the glue
That bind us together,
He seeks to undue
He’s continuously dropping
That other shoe
The same way
Any other narcissist
Would do

The days of servile darkies
Pickin’ cotton from a field
With its underlyin’ racism
Has cache and appeal
For some Lilliputian minds
If we’re gonna keep it real
So they keep questionin him
Like we don’t know the deal

Been there done that before
We had the right to vote
Some would like to take us back
Or hang us from a rope
If it’s not based on race then what is it
That keeps the birthers goin’
They make it up from whole cloth
And yet their lies keep growin’

They’re good at spreadin’ vermin
And their own insanity
But who are they to determine
Our humanity
If by chance they really think
They can turn time back
Cap’n that ain’t hapnin
And that’s simply is a fact

Cap’n that ain’t hapnin
Cap’n that ain’t hapnin

The whole world’s lookin at us
Wondrin’ what’s the problem
We used to take on challenges
And find a way to solve ‘em
But racism seems so ingrained
That it remains a problem
And sayin’ that is not the case
In no way will absolve ‘em

They’re good at spreadin’ vermin
And their own insanity
But who are they to determine
Our humanity
If by chance they really think
They can turn time back
Cap’n that ain’t hapnin
And that’s simply is a fact

Cap’n that ain’t hapnin
Cap’n that ain’t hapnin

The days of servile darkies
Pickin’ cotton from a field
With its underlyin’ racism
Has cache and appeal
For some Lilliputian minds
If we’re gonna keep it real
So they keep questionin' him
Like we don’t know the deal

Heaven knows
We’re about more than cash clothes and hos
But you’d never know that I suppose
From those negative images the media shows
Or by looking at the latest rap videos
With every other woman in ‘em over exposed
You’d never know that’s not the way it goes

If you don’t mind I’d like to keep it real
By telling you exactly how I feel
Cos it’s high time that you heard the deal
You’re being exploited for your *** appeal
They got you showin your body to everyone
Especially the parts that don’t get no sun
And you’re telling yourself you’re just having fun
It’s only gonna serve to get you done
Think you’re gonna get rich (someone lied)
All you’re gonna be is objectified
And when they get done (cast aside)
Or told there’s a pole that you can ride
Is that what you really want (you decide)
Don’t cha know that’s not what life’s about
By now I woulda thought you had figured it out

Cos heaven knows
We’re about more than cash clothes and hos
But you’d never know that I suppose
From those negative images the media shows
Or by looking at the latest rap videos
With every other woman in ‘em over exposed
You’d never know that’s not the way it goes

Fifty thousand hanging around your neck
Over-drafted at the bank can’t write a check
And once they’ve recouped here’s what to expect
You’ll be lucky to hold on to your drop top Lex
You’re used to livin like the rich and famous
Now you’re walkin around dazed and aimless
Former fans approaching askin what your name is
And the worst thing about it what the actual shame is
Got you thinking that’s the way life’s supposed to be
And you’re tryin to go to bed with every ** you see
You can’t separate what’s real from fantasy
And you’re wonderin how you caught that STD
It’s high time you settled back down to earth
And analyzed what the hell all of it’s worth
A string of baby’s mamas who have given birth
Will only make you dig deeper inside you purse

Heaven knows
We’re about more than cash clothes and hos
But you’d never know that I suppose
From those negative images the media shows
Or by looking at the latest rap videos
With every other woman in ‘em over exposed
You’d never know that’s not the way it goes

Right about now you should get the picture
Success came along and when it bit cha
It changed sumthin in ya – that you won’t admit to
Like fallin for the things that are bound to get cha
The parties the girls who never say no
A prescription for disaster now you’re doin blow
And goin to places that you shouldn’t go
Bet you didn’t think you could stoop that low
But there you are now and nevertheless
None of those things bring you happiness
Money ain’t the answer but you’d never guess
When you spent all of that time reaching for success
Did the thought occur to you it might be a test
From the Man Up Above (The One Who Knows You Best)
Now you’re miserable but you won’t confess
Though everyone can see that you’re a ****** mess

Heaven knows
We’re about more than cash clothes and hos
But you’d never know that I suppose
From those negative images the media shows
Or by looking at the latest rap videos
With every other woman in ‘em over exposed
You’d never know that’s not the way it goes

So now you’re on top but what you go and do
Sumthin real stupid now look at you
Bein perp walked like you’re in a zoo
See the man had a plan now he’s come for you
So you shake you’re head ain’t that a *****
Why’s it always the lawyers who come out rich
You never would have guessed that your man’s a snitch
But he cut a deal so the feds scratched his itch
Now your career’s buckwheats (going down the drain)
I can imagine the thoughts goin through your brain
Now you’re lookin for God to come and explain
And I sympathies bro cos I feel your pain
Try though you may in an attempt to please us
Maybe what you need is to get close to Jesus
What’s God is God’s and what’s Caesar’s Caesar’s
Sometimes we’re given things as a way to tease us

Heaven knows
We’re about more than cash clothes and hos
But you’d never know that I suppose
From those negative images the media shows
Or by looking at the latest rap videos
With every other woman in ‘em over exposed
You’d never know that’s not the way it goes

Called you
Hoping you’d answer the phone
But I guess nobody
Was at home
Left a message
For you anyway
Wishing you
A very pleasant day

I was hoping
To catch up with you
We have so much
Catching up to do
I’ve lost some loved ones
But I thought you knew
So tell me
What’s been happening with you

I imagine
Your kids are all grown
Probably with
Some children of their own
Are they still with you
Or have they gone
And how many wild seeds
Have they sown

It’s amazing
How time seems to fly
And what it does
To folks like you and I
The law of average
Always will apply
That every living thing
One day will die

By: Cedric  McClester,

We’re caught up in the mystery
Of who it’s gonna be
Nevertheless if I had to guess
Guess we’ll just have to see
But it’s down to a short list
So the answer some insist
To which they give their voice
They hope will be the choice

So it makes perfect sense
That we’re caught up in suspense
And though it is intense
It will come out in the rinse

Like Shakespeare’s line,“Poor Yorick.”
The choice will be historic
Depending upon how it goes
Some will be euphoric
But only one person knows
Ain’t that usually how it goes
The one who does the choosing
Knows who’s winning or losing

So it makes perfect sense
That we’re caught up in suspense
And though it is intense
It will come out in the rinse

And if you’re asking me
The biggest mystery might be
What I’m talking about
Cuz there’s an element of doubt

So it makes perfect sense
That we’re caught up in suspense
And though it is intense
It will come out in the rinse

As the betting folks make bets
And the losers have regrets
To be quite merciful
It’s nothing personal
You can take it from me
It’s only business don’t cha see
Don’t read more into it
Than happenstance or mother wit

So it makes perfect sense
That we’re caught up in suspense
And though it is intense
It will come out in the rinse

When she bought the house
His mother was smiling
She could finally leave Queens
For the burbs of Long Island
She wanted to leave Queens
Because in Queens the kids were wildin’
But little did she know
So were her little darlins’
The fast paced life
She thought she left behind
Gave her a comfort level
But only in her mind
Call it accidental
Or simply by design
To the realities of life
She was partially blind

This is a cautionary tale
From which there’s no escape
Like the finish of a close race
It’s a tale of the tape

Lampin’ in the burbs
Things seemed to be fine
He smoked a little herb
Because he was inclined
According to most people
You couldn’t find
A nicer fella anywhere
Most of the time
There was another side to him
Ya need to know
Rumor has it
That he moved a lot of blow
But where he sold it at
Nobody seemed to know
It was in the kinds of places
His people didn’t go

This is a cautionary tale
From which there’s no escape
Like the finish of a close race
It’s a tale of the tape

Life’s a mystery
Because ya never know
How long you’re gonna be here
Or when you’re gonna go
So how come most of us
Act like that isn’t so
Living recklessly
Most of the time but - yo
There were those who thought they knew him
But they really didn’t
So many aspects of his personality
He kept well hidden
He did lots of things
That people thought he didn’t
And if they confronted him
He simply wouldn’t admit it

This is a cautionary tale
From which there’s no escape
Like the finish of a race
It’s a tale of the tape

Swing low sweet chariot
The Lord took him home
Only twenty-one
But sadly now he’s gone
Made a left turn
But that turn was wrong
Now he’s a memory
Talked about in song

The bigger they are
They say the harder they fall
It’s an understatement to relate
That he was tall
A giant of a man
About six-five in all
Tall enough to make
Everyone else look small
While in front of his mother’s house
Minding his own business
A gunman snuck behind him
According to the witness
Pumped two in his head
With certainty and quickness
Knocked him to the ground
Where he was still and listless

This is a cautionary tale
From which there’s no escape
Like the finish of a close race
It’s a tale of the tape

Swing low sweet chariot
The Lord took him home
Only twenty-one
But sadly now he’s gone
Made a left turn
But that turn was wrong
Now he’s a memory
Talked about in song

Certain candidates
Are a joke
Like that boastful chump
Who never says he misspoke
Hopefully
The people are awoke
To his tendency
To insult and provoke

Insults don’t
A president make
And fuzzy facts
Are hard to take
From a candidate
Who never applies the brake
And speed dials past
Frequent mistakes

What the hell
Have we become
When outright lies
From the mouths of some
Seems to have the affect
Of making us numb
Or perhaps it highlights
The fact we’re dumb

We’re ignoring
The elephant in the room
And that might well spell
The candidate’s doom
His Armageddon
Is about to loom
And he’ll be gone
From the world stage soon

Certain people
Never learn
You get from life
What you earn
Nero fiddled
While Rome burned
Today it seems like
It’s his  turn

Some live to
Incite a riot
Hatred is part
Of their diet
Let them try
They can’t deny it
And if they did
Who would buy it

Hate mongers
Invite others
Mostly those
Without their druthers
At any rate
They hate brothers
Usually labeled
As those others

Some live to
Incite a riot
Hatred is part
Of their diet
Let them try
They can’t deny it
And if they did
Who would buy it

Certain people
Have no shame
Hope I don’t have to
Name a name
To him everybody
Is fair game
Though he doesn’t want to
Take the blame

Y’all know who
I’m talkin’ ‘bout
It ain’t that hard
To figure out
But just in case
There’s any doubt
He’s always
The odd man out

Some live to
Incite a riot
Hatred is part
Of their diet
Let them try
They can’t deny it
And if they did
Who would buy it

Y’all know who
I’m talkin’ ‘bout
It ain’t that hard
To figure out
But just in case
There’s any doubt
He’s always
The odd man out

You blazed the trail
And smoothed the path
For those who followed
In your aftermath
So I thought I’d just ask
How arduous was that a task
As I hail you and raise my glass
It’s in your memory that I do bask
Your chapter’s closed finally at last

Thank God that you
Picked up your pen
And wrote down words
Especially when
It wasn’t easy at all way back then
So I admire you in ways I can't  express  friend
And I aspire to be like you
Is the message I send

Much like you
I came from the town
Where Paul Revere
Rode up and down
Warning tjat the British were around
So your accent had a certain sound
That only in Bostonians can be found
Which might be the reason you were  clowned

That notwithstanding
You indeed persevered
And tolerated those who talked and stared
Until all obstacles had been cleared
You were smarter than you appeared
And always was what they most feared
A thinking black man who wasn’t scared
One with an intellect uniquely prepared

Now I know there are those
Who’d like me to change the subject
Of how close America came
To becoming a banana republic
Of course I’m talking about
The machinations of one Donald Trump
On and off of
The campaign stump

2020 marked the year
When America came
So very near
To becoming a place
That we all need to fear
And Donald Trump
Made that very clear
This is not hyperbole I’m being sincere

He tried to get the Justice Department
To go along
With his tied and tried
“I’ve been robbed!” song
But received such push back
From the DOJ throng
That he thought better of it
Though he came on strong

If karma and justice
Didn’t fail
Donald Trump would be somewhere
Sitting in jail
Doing his best to
Try to raise bail
By looking for donations
Sent in the mail

Picture me
Without you
I don’t know
What I’d do
Cos you make
My life worthwhile
You put the dimple
In my smile

You are like the air
That I breathe
I need you
You best believe
You’re the rhythm
I conceive
And I don't want you
To ever leave

I wake up
Grateful you’re there
Energized
Then I prepare
To embrace
What we share
Imagine if
You were not there

Others feel
The same as me
They’re searching for
A certain key
After all
What would life be
Without a beat
Or a melody

He’s channeling the Boogey Man
While lying about the caravan
He thinks we don’t understand
That he’s hatched a ***** plan
To demonize some immigrants
Fleeing because it makes sense
To seek safety and so hence
He telling lies at their expense

Like they’ll be bringing leprosy
And Small Pox to you and me
Doctors ask, “How can that be?”
Cuz those diseases we don’t see
He likes to create fear
In people that are unaware
The kind that are easy to scare
So we’ll really have to prepare

I’ll tell you what you may not know
They’ve got a thousand miles to go
So will they make it to the show?
And will there be an overflow?
He’s playing his Mid-Term card
By sending in the National Guard
A show of force much, much too hard
That he should probably discard

If you’re born here, you’re a citizen
Which he is looking to amend
By making the Constitution bend
To his Executive Order to resend
He’s doing his best to thwart
The civic lessons we’ve been taught
Denying freedoms that we’ve long sought
If his cruel dogma is bought

God sends His wind
And rain
Although it causes pain
Let me try to explain
It isn’t done in vain
If we want Him to hear
The depth of our despair
Let’s acknowledge that He’s there

We need to change our evil ways
Especially these days
Because submission pays
Or else Chastisement stays
It was he who sent the locus
To **** the crops and choke us
We need to change our focus
And this isn’t hocus pocus

Am I committing libel?
You need to read your Bible
Things are getting very tribal
Cause our shared pain is primal
But if I may be so bold
His is the rope to hold
See God is in control
And this has been foretold

Believe it or not
Nothing that we’ve gpt
Occurs without His permission
Despite hoping and wishing
That things were not that way
Have patience it won’t stay
Though God will have His Say
In time we’ll be okay

Those two blokes
Sat down to write
A song that took
Most of the night
And when they thought
They had it right
They played it over
To get it tight

The idea came
Out of the blue
One of ‘em played
A note or two
The other started
Writing words
When he had written
down two-thirds

They knew the song
Was almost there
So they tossed
Some ideas in the air
And when their thoughts
Were quite complete
They wrote ‘em on
A music sheet

And they made
Many songs like that
Some songs came
From chewing fat
Followed by a tune
With sharps and flats
They wrote hits
Check out their stats

Chivalry must have died
The day that soldier testified
His allegations undened
Although the other party tried
He was besmirched from the start
Despite having a Purple Heart
He’s a bona fide army man
So why call him a partisan?

In defense of the indefensible
You’re liable to hear all kinds of bull
From those who fear the lever pull
Of a primary challenge that’s a handful
They’re afraid of man who few elected
Who’s guilty as charged as suspected
No monuments will be erected
Once the full list of his crimes are detected

He’s a truth teller not a flamethrower
Who heard the call unlike the whistleblower
In other words an actual knower
And if I’m going too fast, I can go slower
For those who refuse to connect the dots
Instead prefer to take their shots
I guess you could say they’ve got the hots
For those who are the real patriots

He was never with me the suspect said
But why do those thoughts even enter his head?
Did it come from something Sean Hannity said
Or from the conspiracy theories that he takes to bed?
I guess it’s safe to say, that we’ll never know
Or the annals of time will probably show
Yet there are those who’ll say even so
As if the rest of us must be slow

If you needed more evidence
I think that it’s here
Kanye has changed his name
To Christian Genius Billionaire
And is walking for president
It would appear
And 2024 seems to be the year
The question I have, is he sincere

For him Christianity
Isn’t the cure
Cuz he’s still crazy as batshit
And that’s for sure
But I submit
That he’s hard to ignore
When he’s off of his meds
He’s never a bore

He must give his family
A constant fit
See they have to put up
With most of his ****
And it flows freely
Once he gets lit
When like President Trump
He has aTwitter fit

Those of us who care about him
Will have to just pray
That his bi-polar nature
Can go away
But he refuses his meds
And so insiders say
That insanity
Is the price he must pay

He put on his camouflage hat
And proceeded to load his gun
See he wasn’t going out hunting
He just wanted to **** someone
So he headed for the doctor’s church
In order to get the job done
You might say that he was a fanatic
He wasn’t listenin’ to anyone

He called himself a Christian soldier
Who was going off to war
Against those abortionist murderers
He had to even up the score

He entered the church enraged
Saw the doctor praying in a pew
Then quickly unloaded his gun
And shot the man before he knew
Afterwards he calmly surrendered
Having taken pride in the task
And he’d do it all over again
If anyone cared to ask

He called himself a Christian soldier
Who was going off to war
Against those abortionist murderers
He had to even up the score

See he didn’t like the idea
Of young lives being aborted
And he vowed to do all in his power
To ensure that their efforts were thwarted

He called himself a Christian soldier
Who was going off to war
Against those abortionist murderers
He had to even up the score

He was at every protest march
Glued the locks shut at the clinics
And he would have blown ‘em all up
Even with the people still in it
They didn’t have the right to choose
According to his narrow point of view
Women had to pay their dues
Or he’d get them on the evening news

See he didn’t like the idea
Of young lives being aborted
And he vowed to do all in his power
To ensure that their efforts were thwarted

He called himself a Christian soldier
Who was going off to war
Against those abortionist murderers
He had to even up the score

He put on his camouflage hat
And proceeded to load his gun
See he wasn’t going out hunting
He just wanted to **** someone

Smelling like cigarettes ‘n depression
I’ve written down the things I’m expressing
I’m no longer in love (learned my lesson)
No need for speculation or guessing
Cuz it’s obvious what this is about
I was in love but it didn’t work out
Now I wanna cry now I wanna shout
To stop my despair and overall doubt

I’ve earned the right to be blue
If you were me you’d be too
Now I don’t know what to do
It’s like I can’t breathe without you
But this is the point that I’m pressing
Experience taught me a lesson
Love has two sides to it’s essence
I smell like cigarettes ‘n depression

I’m not looking for sympathy
Or to have you pity me
Locked in my room confessing
All of the things I’m here stressing
Smelling like cigarettes ‘n depression
So if you could just let me be
Alone simmering in my misery
Maybe one day I'll finally be free

Like a kid I’m still an adolescent
Locked in my room confessing
All of the things I’m here stressing
Smelling like cigarettes ‘n depression
Given your past transgression
You left my heart in a total recession
And I have only one possession
My cigarettes ‘n my depression

I’m putting Donald Trump on notice,
Before I digress
I’m coming to Washington very soon
To make a citizen’s arrest
He’s guilty of dereliction of duty
Of which he’ll never confess
But that doesn’t make him
Any less guilty nevertheless

I’m putting Donald Trump on notice
Though he can just pretend
That his reign of terror
Isn’t coming to an end
Before  the next election
See it’s about to begin
So he needs to pack his bags
Along with his mandolin

I’m putting Donald Trump on notice
Before the generals pull a coup
Every day it become clearer
That’s something they might do
And bring his love affair with Putin
To the conclusion we all knew
It’s just a matter oft time
I’m telling you, before he’s through

I’m putting Donald Trump on notice
These are the end of days
For his kind of corruption
As well as his errant ways
It cannot last forever
Cuz everybody pays
For the things they do
I swear you’d be amazed

You can have
Peace and quiet
But don’t expect
Me to try it
I need noise
I can’t deny it
And city lights
In my diet

Take me where
The action’s at
Don’t you know
I like it like that
Ya see I need
Those city lights
I gotta have ‘em
In my sites

If you wanna
Get down with me
It’s as simple
As ABC
Under city lights
Is where I’ll be
In a place
Where I feel free

And the answer
To this pop quiz
Is I wanna be
Where the action is
Where city lights
Are shining bright
Out of the darkness
Of the night

Class is in
Know what I mean
For **** stars
And he’s the Deen
Even he
Can be obscene
When he doesn’t
Keep it clean

He’s been known
To have his way
With **** actresses
They say
Even those
Who say nay
Are ignored
Like it’s okay

People gather
Far and near
There’s a lesson
For you to hear
And I’m being
Quite sincere
Because I want to
Make it clear

If they put up
A fight
That should have given
Him insight
Enough to know
It wasn’t right
To take advantage
Of their plight

He’s not a Richard,
Though clearly, he’s a ****
Because he thinks the rest of us
Really must be sick
To try to find the answers
Though there’s not one broomstick
He’s calling it a witch-hunt
Like he’s Jesus on the crucifix

He’s not a Richard,
Though clearly, he’s a ****
A world class narcissist
Who’ll hurl an insult quick
He’s mired in the muck
But it seems to never stick
Though it’s catching up with him
If you do the arithmetic

He’s not a Richard,
Though clearly, he’s a ****
Who’s knee deep in his ****
And it’s very thick
He’s gonna choke, or drown
You can make your pick
The investigations everywhere
Are on the uptick

He’s not a Richard,
Though clearly, he’s a ****
It’s an understatement
To call him impolitic
A garden variety con-man
Who’s slippery and slick
But the Eastern District charges
Like Krazy Glue will stick

Where or when shall I begin
With this explanation
Black boys look like men
Or should it suffice for me to say
A black man of 51 passed for 20 that day
The perpetrators mentioned
On the police radio call
Were both in the their twenties
And both were tall

Now lets look at the facts in this case
So as not to proceed with undue haste
His stepfather was tall but Clifford was short
I guess killing some people is still an in sport
Now to hear officer Shea tell it
Young Clifford was armed
And he was in fear of ****** harm
So the police searched
Both day and night
But no gun was ever found
On that site
Yet Shea said he fired
In self-defense
I guess from his perspective
It made perfect sense

Clifford Glover was 10 years old when he allegedly was confused for an adult male and shot by New York City Police Office Michael Shea who chased Clifford and his stepfather who were on their way to the junk yard where they worked.  Clifford's stepfather was carrying the payroll and when they were approached by an un-marked police vehicle in two white men jumped out they ran.  Neither were armed and Clifford was shot dead by Officer Shea.  While this may sound like it was snatched from today's news, this happened in 1973.  This incident served as a catalyst for my writing socially relevant poetry.  Clifford Glove served and serves as my muse.   Clifford Glover was first  Copy written and published in 1973.

I’m closer to death
Than I ever was before
But I’m not letting that
Bother me anymore
One day sooner or later
Death and me will meet
And he’ll lay his mantel
At my feet

Then whisper forcefully
Come with me
To a land beyond
What you presently see
Where you will be
For eternity
In a grave
With an endless fraternity

From me ya see
There’s no escape
Once I cover you
In my velvet drape
And take you to
A new landscape
Where your future
Will begin taking shape

Whether it will be
Heaven or hell
Only God up above
Can actually tell
After His angel
Rings your death knell
And you have been faced
With your final bell

Boys and girls
Clutch your peals
We’re living in
Divergent worlds
Look at the tweets
That he hurls
And the reactions
That they unfurl

Golly gee
How could this be
I wonder whether
It’s just me
Who has the vision
To look and see
We’re heading toward
Shear misery

Betcha by golly wow
It all is happening now
Yet it doesn’t raise an eyebrow
He must be a sacred cow
To whom we must kowtow
Or risk getting pow-pow
Unless we’re sure to bow
And swear not to disavow

Hey didle didle
Rome burned
While Nero fiddled
Are we just gonna twiddle
Our thumbs or solve the riddle
Let’s split it down the middle
This is not the time to piddle
Or take him off the griddle

Our brief affair
Became a long-term romance
When me and *******
Decided to dance
I thought we were a perfect fit
I was in love and feelin’ it

Most of the time that she was with me
It was pure pleasure and ecstasy
But the truth also can’t be denied
Cos I got to see her other side

Others were smitten by her charms
They fell in love
While trapped in her arms
And it became harder
For them to break free
Cos they got caught up
Very much like me

Most of the time that she was with me
It was pure pleasure and ecstasy
But the truth also can’t be denied
Cos I got to see her other side

She used to give me such a big charge
Until I found out
It was just a mirage
That I came to hate
All that I used to anticipate

I saw the handwriting on the wall
Sayin’ I was about to take a big fall
So I had to get off of the ride
While I had the presence of mind
To decide

Our brief affair
Became a long-term romance
When me and ******* decided to dance
I thought we were a perfect fit
I was in love and feelin’ it

The fast food was as cold,
As their host
Who was giving the Baylor girls team
A White House toast
Because of the winning record
They were able to boast
That automatically comes with
Winning the most

It was rare recognition for
A women’s basketball team
To be invited to the White House
Ya know what I mean?
But an inexpensive one
From all I can glean
Cuz how much is McDonald’s
In the larger scheme ?

They laughed to keep from crying
By the time they entered the Oval Office
They were dying
Their host had some awkward moments
Though he was trying
His best to entertain them
But they weren’t buying
The reality TV persona him

He really tried to display his charms
By mentioning their short sleeves
And the definition of their arms
Which coming from someone else
Would have set off alarms
But an awkward quip from him
Hardly ever harms
Just like its synonym

It isn’t a mere misnomer
That a Chinese immigrant
Haa been left
In a coma
After a vicious beating
Leaving a subdural hematoma
Which we hope doesn’t morph
Into an acute blastoma

Collecting bottles
Off  the street
Shouldn’t result
In anyone getting beat
For scraping a living
He caught the heat
Of a deranged individual
Who wanted raw meat

Was it a hate crime?
Who the hell knows
Why the immigrant caught
That many blows
The level of viciousness
Just goes to show
How far that perpertrator
Chose to go

What kind of evil
Lurks within the hearts of men?
Who would do such a thing
Where should we begin?
Was it his upbringing
Or then again
Was it the devil
Who committed the sin?

Diabetes high blood pressure
Don’t cha let either one getcha
Heart attack bring out a stretcher
Catch a stroke and then I betcha
You’ll begin to exercise
And try to diet if you’re wise
It only takes some discipline
To get out the fix we’re in

Come on fam' get serious
These things mostly affect us
In ways too numerous to mention
Now do I have your attention

Tell me what you wanna be
I’ll bet it’s not an amputee
Who’s going blind but don’tcha see
That’s diabetes’ history
And I hate to bust your bubble
It might lead to kidney trouble
And your liver has no double
Once you’ve turned it into rubble

Come on fam get serious
These things mostly affect us
In ways that I soon shall mention
Now do I have your attention

Tell me fam’ what will it be
I don’t know so you tell me
This deadly cycle has to end
Wonder when it will begin
Now’s the time this is the hour
Cos the solution’s in our power

Come on fam' get serious
These things mostly affect us
In ways that I soon shall mention
Now do I have your attention

Death has such finality
But that’s where you could be
If you don’t follow me
And try to change your destiny
Death is just the bottom line
You had best keep that in mind
When you sit down to dine
Avoid all foods that are refined

Come on fam' get serious
These things mostly affect us
In ways that I soon shall mention
Now do I have your attention

Tell me fam’ what will it be
I don’t know so you tell me
This deadly cycle has to end
Wonder when it will begin
Now’s the time this is the hour
Cos the solution’s in our power

Diabetes high blood pressure
Don’t cha let either one getcha

Whatever one’s ****** proclivity
I respect their right to privacy
It’s much more liberating to be free
But I don’t know maybe that’s just me

They say it’s hard
For some people to come out
So they remain in the closet
With their doubt
And some will not address it
In their conversations
Because of fear
And other reservations

Whatever one’s ****** proclivity
I respect their right to privacy
It’s much more liberating to be free
But I don’t know maybe that’s just me

Out of the closet or in
None of us are free of sin
We’re merely mortal women or men
No matter where we’re going or have been
All of us have choices that we make
Different roads we may choose to take
Some are fragile and eventually break
For others life’s simply a piece of cake

Whatever one’s ****** proclivity
I respect their right to privacy
It’s much more liberating to be free
But I don’t know maybe that’s just me

Some ask themselves why
Must they go on living a lie
Others don’t even try
To find a reason to comply

Whatever one’s ****** proclivity
I respect their right to privacy
It’s much more liberating to be free
But I don’t know maybe that’s just me

I can’t speak for her or him
What they do is up to them
Whether masculine or femme
Who’s to say from where it stems
Some say that they’re born that way
That might be but I can’t say
That’s on them but I’m okay
With whatever anyway

Whatever one’s ****** proclivity
I respect their right to privacy
It’s much more liberating to be free
But I don’t know maybe that’s just me
Coming Out began as song lyrics, which might explain the reoccurring chorus.

There’s so much hatred
In the world today
Love and understanding
Have all but gone away
Slowly but surely
We are nearing the day
When judgement will come
And that’s why I say

What we share in common
Outweighs what we don’t
I believe that we can
Some think that we won’t
Eventually find some common ground
To bring us together if we’re still around

Rational thinkers
Must take a stand
For sanity’s sake
They need to demand
That we come together
The way that God planned
As a human family
Of woman or man

What we share in common
Outweighs what we don’t
I believe that we can
Some think that we won’t
Eventually find some common ground
To bring us together if we’re still around

Say what you will
Call me paranoid
But the alternative
We need to avoid
There has to be a better way
For us to act towards each other today
Knowing God is in heaven
And He’s there to stay
Should be enough
And that’s why I say

What we share in common
Outweighs what we don’t
I believe that we can
Some think that we won’t
Eventually find some common ground
To bring us together if we’re still around

Isn’t it time
That the healing begin
And war and destruction
Be brought to an end
There’s so much suffering
Why should we pretend
That war is something
We need to defend

Common sense
Should tell him immigrants
Can’t be deported wholesale
Or by the droves
Because everybody knows
That plan is doomed to fail
And no matter how tall
He seeks to build that wall
With girth and great expanse
Where's he gonna find the finance?

Keep all Muslims out
Is in great doubt
Once the ramifications
Have been factored out
And is he aware
We have allies there
Who are now voicing concern
Is he ever gonna learn
To keep his big mouth shut
Or is he just a nut

Keep the gays in check
With benign neglect
What an awful philosophy
To reverse their course
Without remorse
When it don’t make sense
Ya see
Trying to turn the clock back
Is not the way to act
He can’t change their destiny

And is he aware
That Obama Care
Is over twenty million strong
Who have what they lacked
So to ignore that fact
Would be nothing short of wrong
And in any case
It’s hard to replace
Despite his un-checked ambition
It’s a pre-existing condition

She has every right
To disparage gay marriage
But her work
As a city clerk
Requires her compliance
With the law
Not her defiance
That’s for sure

Also in addition
Religious prohibition
Doesn’t give her permission
Or added ammunition
To disobey the law
When she should just withdraw
From her City Clerk position
If she’s on a mission

She was duly elected
And it was expected
That the law would be respected
Instead she elected
Despite the legal briefs
To insert her own beliefs
And disobey the law
Never mind the oath she swore

When the judge sent her to jail
And refused to set a bail
I think he hit the nail
Her contempt could not prevail
Though she became a cause celebre
On the worldwide web
And they finally set her free
Thanks to Mike Huckabee

Congress is
On retreat
Because every time
They meet
They leave there
In defeat
With nothing
That’s concrete

They argue
And they shout
Then forget
All about
Us needing
A way out
Now our future
Is in doubt

So they go
On vacation
While a desperate nation
Faces unemployment
And starvation
Yet we’re asked
To just be patient
We should man our battle stations

Who are they
Working for?
We should
Show them the door
We don’t need
Them  anymore
Cuz they’re
Rotten to the core

Vote gun control
And there’ll be consequences
Says the NRA
Have they lost their senses
They’re threatening something
We’ve already paid
In the multiple graves
Where the dead have been laid

It would appear
That there’s an expense
For the American people
Using common sense
We need to do something
Wouldn’t you agree
About the gun violence
We too frequently see

For us to do nothing
Would be derelict
A true indication
That we must be sick
To allow gun advocates
Like the NRA
To bully us in the manner
That they do today

Are they the crazy ones?
Or is it that we
Bury our heads in the sand
And refuse to see
The handwriting that’s
Jumping off of the wall
Saying united we stand
Or divided we fall?

Conservatives, Republicans,
Potential voters
May I have your attention
I’m not here to praise Obama
But rather to bid him good riddance
Donald Trump and the others
Have said he was a disaster as President
And they are all wise and honorable men

They say Obamacare is a catastrophe
And I’m sure the millions now insured
Who wouldn’t otherwise be agree
Because they are wise and honorable men
Unemployment is at an all time low
As a consequence of President Obama’s failed policies
As his detractors are quick to point out
If elected they would take back everything he’s accomplished
Which isn’t much given he inherited a depression

Now that things have pretty much
Turned completely around
Why should he get credit for it
Things must have righted themselves
No thanks to him of course
As the wise honorable men and others
Would surely attest
Despite the fact that he received little help

He’s been thwarted every step of the way
And in spite of it all, succeeded anyhow
Yet he deserves no credit as we have been told
For they are wise and honorable men for the most part
President Obama is leaving the country
Much better off than when he inherited it
But we are constantly being told
That he has been a dismal failure as history will no doubt judge

I want to offer consolation
For the downtrodden of this nation
Hope is on hiatus not on vacation
Its speedy return lies with the patient
I can understand your despair
But you also need to be acutely aware
That nothing lasts forever
See this present malady isn’t that clever

I’d like you to think for a minute
And yes I know we’re caught up in it
But ultimately it will go away
Exactly when I cannot say
Although one day it will disappear
And who knows if that moment’s near?
We need to proceed with all due care
Until the second that we get there

This has been a heavy load
And we’re all in pandemic mode
So wear your mask and wash your hands
And acquiesce to its demands
It will only be a little while longer
Every day we’re all getting stronger
Pretty soon we’ll have the cure
The very one we’re all looking for

You can call me an optimist
And I will certainly cop to this
But I can’t be no other way
I don’t know what else I can say
Cuz we were never in control
And I would never be so bold
Or even have the gumption
To make that assumption

Water seeks  Its own level
Like Donald Trump
Is down with the devil
And I just thought
You ought to know
Cuz, lots of people
Have said so

They say behind
His teased hair
Revelations says
There are three sixes there
Which is the devil’s sign
If you’re not aware
Is it any wonder
Why he gives us a scare?

While he frequently talks
About,” the deep state”
As a way of promoting
Animosity and hate
Rarely does he elevate
The conversation
Or give equal weight
To the opposing side of the debate

Anything
But the Mueller probe
That in good time
Will serve to disrobe
His avarice
Around the globe
Like magnified
Underneath a strobe

Conspiracy theories abound,
They can be found everywhere
Even among Amazon’s bestsellers
But what are they doing there?
Soaking up legitimacy
In places where they shouldn’t be
And that’s how the craziness spreads
In some susceptible heads ya see

Conspiracy theories abound
They can be found everywhere
Especially on Fox TV News
That’s all they seem to air
And guys like Chuck and Harold
Buy them lock stock and barrel
And you can’t make them believe
That they are ill conceived

Conspiracy theories abound
They can be found everywhere
On the pages of the National Enquirer
There’s more than enough to spare
And though most seem impossible
To their readers it’s true gospel
So they will continue to exist
As long as they persist

Conspiracy theories abound
They can be found everywhere
Especially on the internet
That all we seem to get
And then they’re spread
Like an infectious disease
By their believers
With the greatest of ease

Kyle Rittenhouse would have been dead,
Or so his mother said
If he hadn’t brought his gun full of lead
But shouldn’t he have been in bed
Instead?
In a clear moment of deflection
She said, “ He brung that gun
For his own protection.”

But that seventeen year old boy
Left his home in Illinois
With a lethal toy
For Kenosha to deploy
For his own satisfaction
He wanted in on the action
And didn’t pause for a fraction
Before his deadly reaction

She went on to say, “Kyle did a good job.
When he broke down on the stand today
I broke down too
As only a mother can do
Cause he’s innocent of the charges
When his gun dislodges
It made perfect sense
To say he killed in self-defense

His mother must have been drinking
Cos that’s convoluted thinking
Kyle killed without blinking
So her argument is sinking
Knowing danger was brewing
What the hell was she doing
Idly watching her son pursuing
What could lead to his ruin?

Cops shot
As it redundantly repeats
We havta get these guns
Off of our city streets
The answer could be pressure
From the corporate suites
To get our law makers
To apply the heat

Cop’s lives
Have to matter (it’s a must)
Cuz they’re charged with
Protecting us
When they’re on patrol
Believe and trust
They’re not looking for things
To combust

Cops aren’t no different
From me and you
After their shift
They want to go home too
To the front doors
They usually come through
To do whatever
They usually do

Cop’s on occasion
Sometimes go astray
Though it’s unfortunate
That is not to say
They deserve to be shot
As a way to pay
Because I’m here to tell ya
That it’s not okay

The sound of war drums
Aren’t that far,
Could we be headed
For a coup d’etat?
Some say yeah,
Others say nah!
But they blew the man up
Riding in his car

Did he deserve that?
I don’t know
Was there an urgent reason
Why he had to go?
Careful of the bitter
Seeds that you sow
It doesn’t take much
For the Middle East to blow

He may have been somebody
For us to despise,
But was taking him out
Really wise?
He was revered,
In his people’s eyes
See they felt a sense of
Familial ties

Clearly there’s a madman
In the White House
Who has teased dyed hair
And a steely eyed spouse
Who doesn’t seem bothered
That her husband’s a louse
Which should give us all reason
Enough to grouse

Covid is a hoax
Until you get it
Once you do
You won’t forget it
You will learn
To regret it
But by then
You’ll be embedded

Ya see I know
Of what I speak
Covid had me
Feeling so weak
That I found it
Hard to breathe
And I was just
About to leave

They put me on
A ventilator
Sooner rather than
Much later
My health was
Like an elevator
Going up and down
Think carburetor

In the spirit of
Full disclosure
They put me in
An induced coma
And that isn’t
A mere misnomer
When I say
I was almost a goner

Let's label him a hypocrite
See his forebears were poor as ****
That's what I.find so hard to get
Cuz' it's perverse you must admit
He only wants those not in need
To come to America to succeed
He's fully prepared to watch others bleed
Rather than to allow them to be freed

He's the acting czar of immigrants
Who Trump installed to not relent
He in fact, seems quite hellbent
To give them all a great big hint
We're not the nation that they thought
Or the myth they might have bought
They can cross our border
Just don't get caught

He climbed the ladder of success
And has achieved it nonetheless
As an acolyte if I had to guess
Or a sychophant at his very best
He came inside then closed the door
On others who also want more
It's clear he's rotten to the core
Is it necessary for me to say more?

He echoes Trump's callousness
Like a doppelganger, but nonetheless
I guess you could call him one hot mess
Because obviously it's no contest
He'll continue to give 'em hell
It's clear to me he doesn't mean them well
See he's not a man he's just a shell
And the whole wide-world can tell

Cut him and he’ll bleed
But he has a sick need
To never secede
So on his Twitter feed
Hw refuses to admit
That he clearly lost it
See without a doubt
He’s been voted out

Trump has thin skin
And now that Biden’s in
We’re left to ask when
He’ll stop the fraud spin
And face the true fact
We cancelled his contract
Though he gained blacks
He still got the axe

It’s not hard to get his gist
He’s an egomaniacal narcissist
Whose ignorance is bliss
That’s why he makes us so ******
He’ll even try to make the truth
From which he’s always been aloof
Into an outright blatant lie
He uses for an alibi

Cut him and he’ll bleed
Though he’s a different breed
Look at his Twitter screed
On that social media feed
Or listen to the things he says
Do you really want him to be your pres?
Let me take an educated guess
No! That man has no finesse

You’re **** right,
We’re scared!
We were ill-prepared,
For the pandemic
Our intelligence feared
Months before it hit
Which the President
Refuses to admit

He failed to
Heed the warnings
That he was being sent
He just wouldn’t relent
Instead he played it down
Like the evidence
That was found
Was somehow unsound

Now it’s too little
And too late
And let me also state
We’re crushed by the weight
Of his ignorance
Which is so intense
That even to this day
We can’t believe what he has to say

And it won’t,
Just disappear
Or vanish
In thin air
So we had
Best prepare
For the worst
We have to fear

He’ll say almost anything
He doesn’t give a heck
About the anger it might bring
But the topics he selects
Usually comes with quite a sting
It defies the intellect
The invectives that he slings

Now he’s dancing on the graves
Of those who were victimized
See that’s the way that he behaves
Oh did you think otherwise
Because it’s a rocky road he paves
One wonders how he survives
But he seems to come out unscathed
Like a cat who has nine lives

He says he licensed to carry a gun
To a hall full of enthusiast
This although the mornin’s not done
And they haven’t been laid to rest
I imagine that’s how he has his fun
Or wins their votes I guess
He has no platform on which to run
And he’s not hard to detest

Daystar - shining bright
In the morning strong
Daystar- fought for right
In a world that’s wrong
Daystar - wouldn’t go along
Just to get along
Daystar - Lived her life
Beyond the throng

Daystar - Tethered together
By love with Evergreen
Daystar - Fiery yes indeed
But still serene
Daystar - Not a bone in her body
That was mean
Daystar - Pioneer of the party
Known as Green

Daystar - In our hearts and minds
She will always be
Daystar - Followed her path in life
And her destiny
Daystar -  The progeny of black artists
Whose works we can see
Daystar - Like the  Indegenious Peoples
In her family tree

Daystar - A past master of
Literary arts
Daystar - Whose essays and books
Touched our hearts
Daystar - In a word was brilliant
Yes she had smarts
Daystar - Left us her legacy
As her transition starts
