Gil Scott Heron was wrong
When he said in his iconic song,
“The revolution won’t be televised.”
Ya see it’s happening daily
Right before our eyes
And most of us are, none the wise
Cuz someone who we should despise
Is wearing his presidential disguise
The revolution is taking place
At MAGA rallies that have the space
Instigated by a public disgrace
Promoting white supremacy, right in our face
On TV screens to his supporter’s delight
He’s saying things, that even he knows ain’t right
But he says them anyway in order to spite
The rest of us caught in his verbal blight
The revolution signifies change
And often that means it can be strange
How certain things rearrange
And can unravel in the exchange
Some people wanna set the clock back
To a time that can only be labeled, wack
Which they’d like to revisit, as a matter of fact
But time is addition, you can’t subtract
The revolution it would appear
Can give us all quite a scare
Once it is obvious and we’re aware
That it’s not coming, rather it’s here
And it’s on cable and in the news
It’s your choice, so you can choose
We’re at the point where some refuse
Because not everybody is amused
