DEBT OF GRATITUDE
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

We  owe you
A debt of gratitude
When we started out
You were the dude
Whose comedy
Helped set the mood
You were better than a plate
Of hot cooked food

In your footsteps
Is were we all tread
We listened closely
To every word you said
You’re the one who
Put it in all of our heads
That we could be like you
On TV in fancy threads

You know we owe it,
All to you
You’re the main reason
Why we do what we do
You’re the one we studied
And pointed to
When we decided
On comedy too

You probably got yours
From Richard Pryor
But you’re from our era
So we hold you higher
You’re our muse
And you inspire
Us to always do our best
And to reach higher

KEEP HIS ASS IN SUPER MAX!
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Keep his *** in Super Max
With little time for him to relax
The Boston bombings
Were attacks and those are just
The salient facts
What he did landed him in there
Whether or not the trial was fair
As a matter of fact we don’t even care

Why you ask, do I vilify him?
Aren’t you also a Mu -sa-lim?
Maybe so, but I’m not with him
What he acted on was a whim
Find for me, if you can
Where torture’s sanctioned in the Qu’ran
When killing the innocent is clearly banned
Which so few jihadis seem to understand

I understand how he must feel,
It’s hard inside, thus his appeal
But four people died, so let’s keep it real
Like I hope he does when he begins to kneel
Dzhokar Tsarnaev has been named
The killer of four, others he maimed
But even still he’s not ashamed
Because now he’s trying to shift the blame

Radical Islam is a poor excuse
For the kind of carnage and abuse
For which Dzhokar and his brother were accused
In the name of Islam, Allah is not amused
So the appeal, that he’s now demanding
Only illustrates his poor understanding
Of the religion that he professes
When what he did Allah never blesses!

SOMEONE CALL A MARSHAL
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Someone call the marshal
McConnell’s never been impartial
I shouldn’t have to share it
But I remember Garland Meritt
And the awful words he said
That will never leave my head
About making our first black president
A one-time White House resident

He took that supremist position
And in fact, made it his mission
So I shouldn’t be surprised
That the oaths he takes are lies
He believes he’s judge and jury
Which only invokes my fury
Trump’s impeachment is a scam
Because McConnell doesn’t give a ****

But he’s mistaken in my view
Because the American people do
Whether or not he gives a care
We believe the trial should be fair
So let each side produce their witnesses
Let the Senate jury make their synthesis
Though it’s a foregone conclusion
That there’ll be some collusion

We need to do radical surgery
If the Senate commits mass perjury
And that’s what they’re planning to do
Give us all the *****
They must think they’re invincible
For placing party over principle
Marching lock-step with a President
Who only lives to circumvent

Though they pulled their poles
Out of the ground
The circus apparently
Never left town
Reminders of it
Are still all around
And occasionally
You can see an errant clown

But the clown never once
Made me laugh
See I’d walk away
When he crossed my path
How many times?
I’ve yet to do the math
But I think about it
While I’m taking a bath

I’ve done my research
And here’s what I’ve found
They can’t cheer me up
When I’m feeling down
I see no purpose for
For them being around
And I know to children
How this must sound

But I’ve put away
My childish things
Cuz I’ve lived my life
Inside of three rings
Now I’m looking towards
What tomorrow brings
Hopefully peace of mind
Among other things

Evergreens and mistletoe
The children all a glow
It’s a special time of year
That we’ve come to know
As the Christmas season
We’re not afraid to show
We can bring happiness
Everywhere we go

I can’t wait for Christmas time
That special time of year
People walking all about
It’s a different atmosphere
All up in department stores
Tryin’ to spread good cheer
I can’t wait for Christmas time
Now that it’s almost here

Every child anticipates
The gifts they hope to get
Though that is a part of it
We should not forget
What the date commemorates
And the awesome debt
That we owe to the baby
Who those three wise men met

I can’t wait for Christmas time
That special time of year
People walking all about
It’s a different atmosphere
All up in department stores
Tryin’ to spread good cheer
I can’t wait for Christmas time
Now that it’s almost here

THINKING PEOPLE
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Thinking people say
That he must be insane
To allow Putin to continue
To pull his chain
When Putin should be
The President’s bane
He’s ex-KGB
Ya know what I’m sayin’

But the President takes
Putin’s word like gospel
And he readiy repeats it
That’s how we can tell
Putin must have him
Underneath his spell
So without a handbasket
He’s going to hell

Some say that he
Is simply hypnotized
Others believe
He’s been mesmerized
Or maybe it’s that
He’s poorly advised
Or a Russian asset
Who believes his lies

Some say it’s beyond
Being tragic
Putin must have
His own brand of magic
Or maybe he uses
Some kind of gadget
To make the President
Act like a maggot

TOOTIE FRUITY
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Because they’re so tootie fruity
Unlike the Blowfish and Hootie
They continue to shirk their duty
By kissing the President’s *****
They adhere to their oaths so sparsely
That history will judge them harshly
Like a dinner consisting of only parsley
Their offices are like a farce, see

How do they sleep with themselves
While acting like Santa Claus elves
Their courage is left on their shelves
While the President plays the twelves
Which used to be known as the dozens
They act as if they’re his first cousins
A Christ like figure he wasn’t
Because forgive is something he doesn’t

Have they forgotten how to stand tall?
For the President they’ll take the fall?
Don’t they hear the clarion call?
Guess they have no shame at all!
With a President that overreaches
The Constitution beseeches
A Congress that impeaches
For the lesson that it teaches

He’s been an errant tap dancer
Who’s metastasized like some kind of cancer
So impeachment was the only answer
Why should we take a chance, er
And just let him have his say
Like what is the law anyway
So what he did wasn't okay
But even still he holds sway

FINALLY!
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Finally the bar has been reached
He’s the third president we’ve impeached
And history will serve to teach
What happens when the law has been breached
I hope that you’re listening to me
He’ll go down in infamy
For the entire world to see
That Congress had him up a tree

Where it will go from here?
Is an open question, it would appear
But one thing has to be clear
He’s deserving of a Bronx cheer
Now his face is an orange tinge
And he’s become unhinged
He’s gone on a Twitter binge
Vowing to get his revenge

He’s guilty of obstruction and abuse
But he has the perfect excuse
So you won’t see him calling a truce
He continues to cook his own goose
Now he’ll go down in history
As one of a few -  only three
And the evidence was the key
That locked him to his own destiny

It no longer a reality game
So much for the brand, that’s his name
Which he’s engulfed in shame

And he’ll never be quite the same
By history he’ll be poorly judged
Now that his name has been smudged
We have to see if he’s forced to budge
Off of the ground that he’s trudged

DO YOU KNOW?
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Do you know
What it says,
To believe no one cares
But still ask for their prayers?
Do you know,
What it means,
To be on TV screens
Before his loyalist fiends?

Did you know,
Those MAGA hats,
Are like waving baseball bats,
To those fringe element cats?
And did you realize.
The things most of us despise,
Are alright in their eyes,
So they won’t criticize?

Do you know,
The President,
Shows his bad intents,
And it doesn’t make sense?
You see, he complains
Trying to baffle our brains,
Though the fact still remains
That goes through great pains

His overreach,
Has made Congress impeach
For the lesson it will teach
And he hasn’t even reached
His second term
Though it will affirm
He has reason to squirm
Like a rainy day worm

They were there
In the lean times together
The in between times
They  helped each other weather
No we won’t forget them ever
Music was their endeavor
And it will be with us forever
Until the twelfth of never

They were two fifths
Of the mighty Temptations
Which earned them
Lots of standing ovations
All over the world
In many nations
They shook the
Music industry’s foundations

And this ode
Is not written for nothing
Cuz Eddie Kendricks
And  David Ruffin
Were as smooth
As butter on a muffin
And should always be
Part of the discussion

Both of these men
Are long gone
But their memories
Will linger on
Today, tomorrow
And beyond
So if you agree
Then respond

Do you remember,
The year was 1956
When Frankie Lymon and the Teenages
Came into the mix
They used to rehearse
In the junior high school Stitt
And were very special
You’ll have to admit

Do you remember?
Are you aware
Of the trail that he blazed
Do you even care
When doo *** was born
They were right there
Singing their harmonies
In the hallway stair

Do you remember?
Their star shined so bright
And then diminished
Almost over night
They didn’t receive credit
For songs they would write
Their time was limited
In the spot light

Do you remember?
And did you morn,
When you heard the news
Frankie Lymon was gone?
He and the Teenages
Took the whole world by storm
See, he left a place in our hearts
That was warm

From the message that he’s sending
Lindsey Graham is not pretending
That there will be another ending
For the guy that he’s been friending
He’s pretty much resigned
Because he’s made up his mind
That no matter what they find
He’s going with the party’s line

And you already knew
That goes for Mitch McConnell too
Soas they skip to my loo
Give ‘em both a great big boo
They represent the worst
And their conclusions are rehearsed
See they will not be reversed
Even though they all are cursed

Dollars to donuts that he’ll run
Lindsey Graham’s a chameleon
Who changes colors with the sun
But hopefully he’ll be undone
He’s a bootlicker supreme
A tyrant in the making’s dream
whoAnd righteous though he may seem
He’s not on this country’s team

He’s clearly an enigma
Who is saddled with the stigma
Of having a heart that is maligna
In fact he’s the prime paradigma
I can think of no one better
To wear the President’s varsity sweater
With a big T as his letter
Like a sycophantic debtor

JURY OF HIS PEERS
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

They’re a jury of his peers
Who are worthy of our jeers
See, none among them cares
About the evidence he hears
In the upcoming senate trial
That isn’t worth our while
Because they’re all in denial
About behavior that was foul

They have closed their eyes
To the wherefores and the whys
Before one witness testifies
About the phone call we despise
Because the blind can even see
All of their complicity
So don’t take it from me
When the evidence is key

Though it’s become the big divide
From the truth they cannot hide
Although right is on our side
It’s gonna be a bumpy ride
We don’t have to ask what’s up?
With them vowing to be abrupt
Their intentions are corrupt
Cuz the party won’t be bucked

See, they’re no longer free
To practice our democracy
They’re ruled by hypocrisy
And even a guilty plea
With souls as dead as Columbine
Wouldn’t serve to change one mind
And that’s not to be unkind
It’s the blind leading the blind

Who will write our history,
Will it be written by us?
Or will it be a mystery,
That vanishes in our dust?
Who will tell our story,
For the whole wide-world to see?
Who will put the pen to paper
If not you, or me?

Who will document
Our triumphs and our tragedies
Who will share with others
All of our use to be’s
Someone needs to tell it
From our point of view
Who better to sell it
If not me or you?

The world needs to know
Our lasting legacy
And who better to tell it
So everyone can see
That our contributions
Go back to antiquity
We’re the perfect messingers
I’m saying, you or me

No one holds hegemony
Over us, cause we
Were there at the beginning
Of humanity
We’re the mothers and fathers
Biologically
Of all those who have followed
People like you and me

THE QUESTION IS WHY?
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

I guess the question is why,
Do some Republicans,
Choose to lie?
About the basic fact
Their lies cannot take back
Even one impeachable act
That clearly was committed
And they know the President did it

Will they swallow any flavor,
Just to curry,
The President’s favor?
One who clearly was remiss,
See he got us into this
But it’s his *** they choose to kiss
And they cannot deny
The burning question why?

To what length will they go,
To let their fealty
Grow and show?
That above and beyond all else
They care primarily about themselves
Their oaths are on their shelves
And everything that they say
Takes those solemn words away

Haven’t they been told
That to gain the world
But to lose their soul
Profits them not at all
If in the face of a clarion call
They allow this country to fall
And now they are beseeched
To vote that he's impeached!

Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

As the limits of democracy
Are reached
The president’s about to be
Impeached
There’s a lesson that it’s
Meant to teach
That this for that was
Right there in his speech

Some prefer to call it
Quid-pro-quo
A Latin phrase in case
You didn’t know
But that language is dead
From long ago
That those who use it now
Do it for show

So let’s not get the facts here
Confused
Presidential power was
Abused
And that’s not classified
As new news
When he’s the one, as we know
Who lit the fuse

How it all will turn out
I don’t know
I guess we’ll have to see
And that’s for sure
As the process goes on
Guess we’ll know
Whether the president’s
Forced to eat crow

HOLLYWOOD
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Rapadamus

Something I’ve always hated
Is what needs to be stated
When the plot construction’s weighted
And the images are dated
Hollywood has black men fated
To wear dresses created
For us to be emasculated
Yet we’ve willingly participated
Think Tyler Perry’s Madea
Close your eyes and you can see her
From Good Times with its JJ
To Martin and his Shanaynay
They have always found a way way
To make buffoonery okay kay
And ***** are still on display
Up until this very day

Call it a judgment call
But when I think about Monster’s Ball
Staring Hallie Berry y’all
The whole race took a fall
Cos it left us all exhausted
Think of the stereotype it fostered
And the self-respect it lost her
Is what her Oscar cost her
When she said, “Make me feel gooood”
And that ******* pulled out his wood
Then plugged her where she stood
Cos she signaled to him he could
Her going crazy over getting’ his meat
Made me wanna throw-up in my seat
And to make the picture more complete
She put her body out there on Front Street

By now it’s plain to us she’s driven
But how she chooses to make her living
Doesn’t mean she has to be forgiven
Anymore than an Andre Piven
But enough on Hallie already
I don’t wanna make this thing too petty
There are others even more unsteady
Then a hot bowl of fresh spaghetti
I’m not a big fan of the Manns
I don’t like the way the camera pans
So when they’re on I make other plans
And my whole family understands
See I’ve had enough of those clowns
I don’t even need to meet the Browns
Which also probably explains
Why I haven’t reached out to the Paynes

Hollywood’s full of Harvey Weinsteins
In Gucci loafers and designer jeans
Creating havoc with off -camera scenes
While toying with some actor’s dreams
Now they’re falling like dominoes
But I guess that’s the way it goes
Like ******* up a producer’s nose
They feel invincible I suppose
But the actresses who feel embolden
No longer find themselves beholden
To the men who took advantage and sold ‘em
Everybody gets their turn to scold ‘em
In the wake of Kevin Spacey’s canards
A strong wind blew down his House of Cards
But isn’t that the way it always starts
Hollywood is full of broken hearts

So I’ve laid my indictment out
It’s hard to find even one Boy Scout
Among any of ‘em who wheel clout
The evidence? (Beyond a shadow of a doubt)
And now that the charges have been lodged
And the jury panel has been charged
Even though it’s one great big hodge podge
Soon the verdict gonna be dislodged
Before that - they’ll try to cop a plea
They’re in treatment don’t cha see
And while all that well may be
It’s not enough to let them off free
Once their expensive lawyers fail
And if they can’t stay out on bail
They’ll be going straight off to jail
Because their checks are in the mail

WHAT PABLO IS TO ART
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Bless his heart
What Pablo is to art
He says he’s been from the start
Only miles apart
Just like Michaelangelo
He wants us to know
There are Sistine Chapels
In his flow

His actions show
Like a neo-Van Gogh
He’s a seasoned pro
Though rolling in dough
He doesn’t have to be coaxed
Into using broad strokes
Like the comparisons he invokes
Or the **** he smokes

As it relates to genre
He’s the big bwana
A multi entendre
We never know what he’s gonna
Bring out of the vault
Like Disney, Walt
That’s a sensual assault
But that’s his gestalt

And now the new wave
He’s become concave
Says he’s been saved
Though he once was depraved
Still we don’t know
Since he’s given up blow
What he has in escrow
Or the future will show

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

What does it mean,
To be the greatest artist ever?
That you come up with rhyme schemes
Some people find clever?
Or, you design clothes,
That pull the cash lever?
Or, that you do other things,
Categorized as whatever?

What does it mean,
To have an ego so large,
That it becomes obvious,
That your id is in charge?
Or, you occasionally lash out
In an unseemly barrage?
Or, that you have fancy cars
Parked in your garage?

What does it mean to
Submit to Christ,
If you think what you do,
Is twice as nice?
Or, you’ve never taken
His Good Book’s advice?
And you can’t keep still
Like a bad case of lice?

What does it mean,
To be big bad and bold
Or, for that matter,
Have a million records sold?
Or, to be known
For having broken the mold
If your life is measured
By the people you’ve rolled?

NO QUID-PRO-QUO!
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

“I want nothing, no quid-pro-quo!”
Why was he speaking in
A language that he doesn’t know?
And was he doing it strictly for show?
Or was it to maintain the status-quo?
Yet, it is fruitless for him to be hiding,
That he desperately wanted
Dirt on Hunter and Joe Biden

“I want nothing, no quid-pro-quo!”
Does he think we’re stupid,
Or simply don’t know?
But verily I say unto you
Even so
We can see that his nose
Is starting to grow
As long as a garden hose

“I want nothing,no quid-pro-quo!”
Is certainly subterfuge
Cuz his fingerprints show
He is complicit
But had to say whoa!
To his European ambassador
So that he wouldn’t blow
Need I say more?

“I want nothing,no quid-pro-quo!”
Perhaps might fool
The average Joe
But the reporter was
A seasoned pro
To whom even he
Must tip his chapeau
And smack his knee

BLOOD IN THE WATER
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
Cedric McClester

Proceed with caution
My mind tries to say
But you are so awesome
I want you anyway
I know there’s danger
And still that’s okay
You hold all the aces
And I still wanna play

Fools rush in
Where angels fear to tread
I’m following my heart
Instead of my head
I have a strong desire
To get you in my bed
And I’m following it blindly
Despite what I’ve said

So call me crazy
Or call me a fool
Then do your best
To take me to school
I’ve already broken
A cardinal rule
If you’ve been knocked out
Remain on your stool

There’s blood in the water
And the shark’s very near
The screams from the shore
Resonate in my ear
Saying use extreme caution
Get the hell out of there
There’s an excellent reason
For you to fear

KELLYANNE
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Conclusion no collusion
Kellyanne Conway said
Confusion and illusion
Or so her cue cards read
Liar truth denier
She’s always been instead
A reliable justifier
While moving their agenda ahead

Hickory dickory Dock
I can’t help but to mock
The way she made her point
By clouding up the joint
Where there’s smoke there’s fire
Nine times out of ten
And it’s my desire
That the church just say amen!

She’s been branded a liar
On The Morning Joe
Therefore, on their airways
She’s not allowed to go
Because she’s not reliable
And they’ve told her so
That fact is undeniable
Even when the news is slow

Now her reputation
Is on the chopping blocks
Everywhere that is
With the exception of FOX
Who gives her an audience
And listens as she talks
To this reoccurring character
In the funnies on Boondocks

MOTHERS OF THE DEAD

By: Cedric McClester

MOTHERS OF THE DEAD
UNITED IN THEIR GRIEF
THE THING THEY SHARE IN COMMON
OFFERS NO RELIEF
FROM THE NAGGIN’ QUESTION
DID THEY HAVE TO DIE
IN THE WAY THEY DID
THEY’RE JUST ASKING WHY

MOTHERS OF THE DEAD
UNIQUELY UNDERSTAND
WHAT IT IS TO LOSE
A CHILD IN A FOREIGN LAND
THEY’D JUST LIKE TO KNOW
THAT IT WAS WORTH THE COST
AS THEY COMMEMORATE
THE LOVED ONES THAT THEY LOST

MOTHERS OF THE DEAD
HEAR THEM AS THEY CRY
LOOKIN’ UP TO GOD
FOR THE ANSWER WHY
MOTHERS OF THE DEAD
HEAR THEM AS THEY CRY
LOOKIN’ UP TO GOD
FOR THE ANSWER WHY

MOTHERS OF THE DEAD
ARE LEFT TO CONTEMPLATE
WHAT THE WORLD COULD BE
IF THERE WAS NO HATE
WORDS OF CONSOLATION
BARELY CAN BE HEARD
IN THEIR DARKEST HOUR
SORRY’S JUST A WORD

GET A LOAD OF THIS

By: Cedric McClester

Get a load of this
Guiliani insists
If the President’s remiss
Here’s the gist
He’ll have endurance
Mixed with abhorrence
Due to his durance
Because he has insurance

How much? he will not say
Though anyway
He says that he’s okay
Cuz it will save the day
So he won’t have the *****
If the President forgets
Throughout their journey
He’s been his attorney

See as he explained
He didn’t go to Ukraine
For personal gain
At least not in the main
He was there to uncover
Whatever he could discover
As the President’s man
About the Biden clan

Like Lieutenant Dan
Now he understands
No one is a fan
When you’re on your can
And it well may be
They’ll charge conspiracy
For his crime spree
That didn’t have to be

PRINCE ANDREW
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

With lots of forethought
And regal malice
Prince Andrew was kicked
Out of Buckingham Palace
For diddling underaged girls
Let’s call them Alice
Which the Queen deemed
To be unseemly and callous

See he became the best friend
Of a randy man
Who met a questionable end
A known *******
From way back when
Who surrounded himself
With girls little more than ten
He shared with Andrew now and then

So he’s been removed
From his royal duties
And he’s been reproved
Because mother’s snooty
And now due to the hand
That he’s been given
He’ll have to find another way
To make a living

So much for,
The life he knew
He’s got to wonder
What to do?
Now that his former
Life is through
He created for himself
A great big stew

That’s who the evidence
Would lead to
Therefore, I say, thus
It was fraud and bribery
Compounded by a breach of trust

He  finds himself in
A precarious position
He refuses to be compliant
Because he has ambition
Now he’s threatening the prosecutors
I think he’s going fishing
By striking that defiant tone
He must be in the Twilight Zone

You got to find it strange
Different leader but
So little has changed
They both are facing charges
Due to greed
And personal largesse
They’re corrupt to the bone
So their problems are their own

No wonder they’re
The best of friends
Birds of a feather
Exchanging grins
And both guilty of
Homemade sins
Hoping to escape
With intact skins

Republicans are nonsensical
In defense of the indefensible
Their arguments lack principle
Because they’re reprehensible
And now we have the proof
That they’re no friends of truth
From which they are aloof
Making them worthy of our reproof

Because of their maliciousness
At this point they’re ridiculous
We can’t call them meticulous
So we don’t get their apiculus
And in their attempt to please
They get down on their knees
In the hope it will appease
A lying *** of a slease

See none are faithful to their oath
They only give up half a loaf
And what they lack in growth
We can’t help but to loathe
The party’s not what it used to be
Once they were idealistic and free
Now they seem to be up a tree
Oh golly golly me

Gone now is the party of yore
We won’t see their likes anymore
That ship has long left shore
They’re rotten to the core
So let us play a long lament
Because of our shared sentiment
Republicans seem hell-bent
And I had to find a way to vent

PUT YOUR BEST FACE ON
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Sadness may come
In time it will go
It doesn’t have to show
No one has to know
Until it’s gone
Don’t look forlorn
Broken and torn
Put your best face on

Don’t look downcast
With a scowl on your face
In any case
Have patience and grace
Time changes tunes
As well as heals wounds
So don’t be broken and torn
Put your best face on

It’s automatic
Though it’s also strange
That nothing stays static
Things constantly change
Even feelings sometimes rearrange
Immediately after they’ve been estranged
Today you may be broken and torn
But you should always put your best face on

Never let anyone know
That you’re feeling down
Pick yourself back up
Right off of the ground
That is the remedy I’ve always found
To be tried and true and sound
But in any case
You should always put on your best face

WHAT CAN WE DO?
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

What can we do,
In order to discourage,
Young people from
Seeking false courage ?
Or prevent them from
Going full throttle
By drinking alcohol
By the bottle

What can we say,
That will resonate,
With an underage drinker,
That could change their fate?
Is there some way
For us to intervene,
Before it’s too late,
Ya know what I mean?

How can we reach ‘em,
In a meaningful way,
That would make them listen,
To what we have to say?
Must adverse consequence
Be bought into play,
In order for them to realize,
That it’s not okay?

How do we change,
Their social norms,
To shelter them,
From future storms?
Ya see the answer
I’m hoping we can  find
Will help them to have
A change of mind

They’re like a colony of ants
Those feckless sycophants
Who do the Trumpian dance
While afraid to take a chance
That he might be displeased
So they stay on their knees
And refuse to eat the cheese
They just shoot the breeze

They sell their integrity
For an audience of one, ya see
Pleasing him for them is key
To the future they hope will be
People like Michael Pence
Who never had much sense
Or the Secretary of state we know
That coward Pompeo

And then there’s Wilbur Ross
Who’s servile to the boss
Also Steven Minuchin
Whose head is so far in
The President’s great big ***
See, he volunteered for the task
And while we’re at it, let’s unmask
Betsy De Voss and her *******

Then there’s the rest of his coterie
Of apologists we regularly see
Like that Kelly-Ann Conway chick
Who lays it on real thick
Then there’s that housing guy we see
Who should have stuck with brain surgery
What’s the point in saying more?
About Donald Trump's revolving door!

DON’T TELL ME…
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By:Cedric McClester

Don’t tell me ******
Don’t like chicken, bro
Look at the lengths
To which they will go
For a Popeye’s sandwich
You might get killed, yo
But they’ll wait on line
For one, even so

Don’t tell me ******
Aren’t addicted to chicken
As if it were crack
That was there for the picking
As the Colonel might say
When it’s finger licking
Nothing beats a piece
Of good fried chicken

Don’t tell me ******
Don’t like that yard bird
To even suggest that
Is simply absurd
And popeye’s sandwiches
I know ya heard
Are the best of the bunch
At least that’s the word

Don’t say that ******
Don’t eat chicken on Sunday
They eat other things
If it’s let’s say, a Monday
In fact it’s as common
As is the  gunplay
We hear in the hood
When the cops are away

YOU CAN’T HIDE THE TRUTH
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedrlc McClester

You can’t hide the truth
Or bury the proof
That the President goofed
Once it’s produced
At any rate,
You might choose to debate
But you can’t obfuscate
That kind of weight

What the President tried
Can’t be denied
Despite those who’ve lied
And did their best to hide
The salient facts
With constant attacks
And few take backs
Let's just call ‘em hacks

It’s not overreach
To try to impeach
Someone who has breached
And certain limits are reached
To sit back and do nothing
While people are suffering
Or act like you’re bluffing
Is like taken a Buffrin

So it’s show and prove
If we seek to remove
Those whom we disapprove
As a counter move
We need to go through it
And not just say ***** it
Cuz the sooner we do it
We’ll get out of the pit

IF NOT FOR…
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

If not for the pills
Doctors once prescribed
The musician Prince
Might still be alive
Along with others who
Sought similar relief
Because their stories too
Ended in grief

If not for the greed
On Big Pharma’s part
The opioid epidemic
Right from the start
Might not have grown
To epic proportions
Because of ignorance
And outright distortions

If not for the relaxed
Government regulations
We might not now
Be at our battle stations
Trying to reverse
What’s sweeping our nation
Because opioids doesn’t
Go on vacation

If not for the prevalence
Of the fentanyl drug
And its purveyors
Who are typically smug
Then we might not have
Gotten mugged
In the way that we have
By this deadly drug

DULY PROPHESIED?
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Was your conversion
Duly prophesied?
I guess you came aboard
For the full ride
How can I knock it
When I haven’t tried
So how can your
Truthfulness be denied?

Heard Jesus Is King,
And it has appeal
I think that you
Already know the deal
Ya see I have no doubt
That you’re for real
But what it lacks
Is something I can feel

There’s some truth
In each and every track
But it’s no cure for cancer
That’s a fact
You shouldn’t trip
Cuz you have the knack
For making people
Just want to react

What works for you
Miay not work for me
I guess in time
We’ll just have to see
For you it’s Jesus
That can set you free
For me
It's not him necessarily

The greatest artist
That God ever created
Might be a little
Too opinionated
His gift in fact
Could be overstated
Enough for that point
To be debated

When you consider
He’s self-anointed
Not chosen by God
As the one who’s appointed
His whole thought pattern
Is somewhat disjointed
But I hope that this knowledge
Won’t leave him disappointed

He thinks so highly
Of himself
That it doesn’t leave room
For anyone else
To place that award
Up on their own shelf
But he’s still more fun
Than a Christmas elf

He’s a megalomaniac
As he’s always been,
Trying to remove
A lifetime of sin
He gets “A” for effort
And a great big grin
But I’m curious when
Will the madness end?

ALL KINDS OF WRONG
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

He avoided Viet Nam
And stayed at home on his can
Because he didn’t give a ****
Now he embraces Uncle Sam
Our soldiers fought the Viet Cong
While he sought to protect his *******
Although that is all kinds of wrong
Because of him, he says we're strong

He seems to pick the oddest times
To exonerate military war crimes
And excoriate those for dropping dimes
On assorted criminals who cross lines
This is the best, and worst of times
For those looking for paradigms
As he posts endless memes and mimes
To ridicule those that he slimes

This besides, but even so
He argues about quid-pro-quo
But it’s extortion, you should know
That his impeachment soon will show
We’ve lost count of broken laws
That he’s committed without pause
And this they say, must be because
The DOJ is full of flaws

As a newscaster once commented
His legacy has been cemented
By angry tweets that he has vented
And the animus that he’s fermented
See what no one has ever refuted
For his position he’s most ill-suited
This is why he must be booted
Before he takes a gun and shoots it

I REMEMBER WHEN...
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

I remember when,
A  phone call cost a dime
And three minutes
Was the allotted time
Back then
Jaywalking was a crime
And one always
Said their prayers before bedtime

I remember
Not so very long ago
The internet that we received
Was very slow
Everybody watched
The Johnny Carson Show
And we didn’t speak
On subjects that we didn’t know

I remember when,
Iit wasn’t called old school
To believe
In something called The Golden Rule
And to believe in it
Didn’t make you a fool
Then we always tried
To get an “A” in school

I remember when,
People used to say
I hope you have
A very pleasant day
Along with
The fun games we used to play
Unfortunately
That’s all gone away

UP OFF THE GROUND
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

When they’re feeling hollow
In self-pity some will wallow
While drowning in their sorrow
It’s a hard pill to swallow
So when I’m feeling down
Here’s what I have found
I pick myself up off the ground
And I go another round

Though it might seem inviting
To go out without fighting
Even if I’m struck by lightning
I find that notion frightening
So I seek the inner fortitude
That helps me to conclude
I need to change my mood
And that’s the vibe that I exude

It ain’t always coffee and cream
Sometimes I wanna scream
Like I’m having a bad dream
When I’m parting at my seam
But like a nagging cough
I’ve learned how to shake it off
Cuz it gets me aloof
Even if it makes some scoff

When a sour mood
Find a way, to intrude
Like a person who is rude
I can’t help but to conclude
Upon careful reflection
That it’s time for a correction
Or, to seek a new direction
In my quest to find perfection

FOLLOW THAT CAR!
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Follow that car!
Riding shotgun is William Barr
On another ******
With an Oval Office agenda
Carrying the President’s water
Let’s declare him out of order
And turn on your recorder
His time is growing shorter

His flagrant impropriety
Is there for us to see
He’s called Attorney General
But we shouldn’t take it literal
We’ve watched him on his journey
As the President’s attorney
See he’s there to do his bidding
Which he doesn’t keep hidden

Look! he just turned the corner,
And I’m thinking that he’s gonna
Defend the President’s actions
Devoid of any redactions
Though they’re undefendable
He’ll still give us an ear-full
And I don’t mean to be snarky
It’s what Biden calls malarky

So, as for his legacy?
Let’s just say, search me?
I guess in time we’ll know
What history will show
Because even those who have a sequel
Should be serving the American people
But that hasn’t been the case
Since they put him back in place

FALSELY ACCUSED
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

How many falsely accused
Never make the news?
Still some refuse
To be disabused
From the notion
That’s in motion
Punishment wise
Demanding the accused dies

How many paid the cost,
Had their lives lost,
Based on evidence
That doesn’t make sense?
Been tried, and convicted
Had their freedom restricted
Then placed on death row
Up until they go

Was the law meant,
To convict the innocent?
Presumed guilty when caught,
As history has taught?
Have ‘em sent to the pen,
Because of the color of their skin?
And that old paradigm
They’ll serve twice as much time

Better, six go free,
Than for us to decree
That one innocent dies
Who might not otherwise
See justice demands
That we have even hands
And we should keep in mind
That it’s never been blind

Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

As I wrote, my suicide note,
The phone began to ring
It was a friend, at the other end
Who called to tell me something
What was said escaped my head
But thank God that I’m not dead
As you can see it rescued me
And my note was never read

A simple act changed the fact
That I was prepared to check out
But as you see, it wasn’t meant to be
I no longer am living in doubt
Is it too broad, to say if God,
Hadn’t been there to intervene?
With the  message I’m telling, so compelling
That it can easily be gleaned

This is a lesson concerning depression
It doesn’t  necessarily have to stay
If it applies to you, what you’re going through
With work, one day, might go away
The thing of which I speak is not unique
For some it could help to pray
If you’re up a creek, in a fit of pique
Remember tomorrow's another day

Don’t give up hope, hang on to the rope
Because hope springs eternal
Don’t be deceived, by the web you weave
Have faith small as a kernel, ‘cuz
Those who believe, can even be retrieved
From the depths of the infernal
If you keep on pushing, life is a cushion
Against all things internal

IN MAFIA PARLANCE
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

In Mafia parlance
Stone made his bones
By lying to the feds
In a variety of tones
Very much like
Trump’s other clones
Who were showing off
Their remaining hormones

He’s banking on a pardon
I’m willing to bet,
But that could well be
To Stone’s own regret
And if it doesn’t happen
He’ll no doubt be upset
Cuz Trump doesn’t believe
In paying a debt

Now all of Trump’s people
Are trying to guess
Whether it will happen
For Stone, more or less
But at this juncture
I fear I digress
Cuz everyone knows
That Stone caused that mess

Somebody that I consider
To be quite wise, once said
Everything that Trump touches
Eventually dies
You don’t have to be a genius
In order to surmise
Those who count on Trump
Are in for a surprise

HE MUST HAVE THOUGHT…
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

He must have thought
That he was all alone
When he spoke so loud
He was heard on the phone
By those there  listening
As he started to moan
About Hunter Biden
Now it’s publicly known

He must have thought
That it would be alright
To smear the ambassador
Out in plain sight
Hoping that it would
Make others uptight
So they wouldn’t do
What they thought was right

He must have thought
The end justifies the means
But that wasn’t true
Even in his teens
Cuz that logic isn’t worth
A hill of beans
Although duplicity
Must be in his genes

He must have thought
That it would be overreach
For the Dems to decide
To finally impeach
But there’s a lesson here
For Congress to teach
There are clear limits
To what can be breached

PRISON ABUSE
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric mcClester

With all of his cronies
Going to jail
And none of ‘em
Left outside on bail
So much for the adage
Too big to fail
Now the only one left
Is him to nail

Sure he can run.
But where can he hide?
When the truth can no longer
Be denied
He gets an “A” for effort
God knows that he tried
But it’s a stiff sentence
That he can’t abide

When the prison gates
Are opened wide
And he’s been invited
To step inside
Bubba might want
A piece of his hide
He’s been looking for
Some fresh meat to ride

His impeachment inquiry
Is tightening the noose
And it appears soon
That they’ll cook his goose
His Republican enablers
Will shoot him a deuce
As he gets prepared
For some prison abuse

THE DREAMERS
Cedric McClester Nov 2019
By: Cedric McClester

The Dreamers dream no more
Like they did before
They were brought to our shore
By their parents seeking more
After leaving their homes behind
Hoping that they could find
A little peace of mind
Across the border line

But a man who’s filled with hate
Is determined to change their fate
And at any rate
Has started the debate
As to what should done
With each and everyone
Of them under the sun
Who soon must hide or run

Now it’s up to the Supreme Court
Whether or not, to cut them short
Or otherwise abort
The permission for which they sought
To stay here where they were raised
Although you’d be amazed
Some judges are not fazed
Because their eyes are glazed

And so we’ll have to see
What’s their ultimate destiny
Will they be allowed to remain free
In the place they long to be
Or locked up and deported
As this president has ordered
Once this matter has been sorted
Even though the Dreamers fought it

If you needed more evidence
I think that it’s here
Kanye has changed his name
To Christian Genius Billionaire
And is walking for president
It would appear
And 2024 seems to be the year
The question I have, is he sincere

For him Christianity
Isn’t the cure
Cuz he’s still crazy as batshit
And that’s for sure
But I submit
That he’s hard to ignore
When he’s off of his meds
He’s never a bore

He must give his family
A constant fit
See they have to put up
With most of his ****
And it flows freely
Once he gets lit
When like President Trump
He has aTwitter fit

Those of us who care about him
Will have to just pray
That his bi-polar nature
Can go away
But he refuses his meds
And so insiders say
That insanity
Is the price he must pay

SO HE WISHES HE WERE...
Cedric McClester Oct 2019
By: Cedric McClester

So you wish that you were
Hunter Biden
Instead of Trump, Junior
Thanks for confiding
From the back seat of the limousine
In which you’re riding
So you’re doing okay
From what daddy’s providing

If Hunter’s making money
Off his father’s name
Then you too are guilty
Of doing the same
If you’re looking for sympathy
Stop placing blame
Because by comparison
What he’s doing is tame

You’re making money
Hand over fist
Yet we can’t expect you
To cop to this
If we didn’t point this out
We’d be remiss
Although to the contrary
You continue to insist

We know you can say
Whatever you choose
From inside the safety
Of Fox-TV News
But relating the truth
Is what you refuse
So what is your strategy
In crying the blues?

FACEBOOK DEFENDS...
Cedric McClester Oct 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Facebook defends
The unjust ends
Of their political friends
Especially those who spend
Untold millions
Cuz they make gazillions
Like land-hungry Brazilians
By misleading civilians

In the name of free speech
The lesson they teach
Because of their reach
And the ethics they breech
Is that Mark Zuckenberg
Is more than absurd
With his every word
Guess he hasn’t heard

Twitter will no longer do it
You see they now eschew it
While he just says ***** it
How come I knew it
He's a greedy *******
I see that he's mastered
How being elastic
Makes him feel fantastic!

So he keeps counting his money
Like their Easter bunny
He may think that’s sunny
But it’s not very funny
So a word to the wise
Stop trying to disguise
How you aggrandize
Those that you balkanize

WHAT IF YOU WERE GAY?
Cedric McClester Oct 2019
By: ibn Herbert

The thought didn’t occur,
But what if you were (gay)?
What do you want me to say?
That i don’t approve (okay)
But would it matter anyway?
You have the God given right
To make choices, wrong or right
That He’ll be the Judge of inspite

Whether or not it’s a choice
It’s your right to raise your voice
Stay in the closet, or rejoice
Drive a Ford or a Rolls Royce
It’s your choice I have to repeat
I can’t get fat from what you eat
Nor should I say that you’re sweet
Whoever you are you’re complete

Under the sign of the dove
We all answer to God above
If someone fits you like a glove
Who am I, to say who you should love?
So no matter what you do
Things that others may eschew
You have the right to be you
And do whatever you choose to do

The thought didn’t occur
But let’s say that you were
The person that  you prefer
That doesn’t make you a slur
To thine own self be true
You have the right to do
Whatever you want to
If that makes you feel brand new
