WE SIT AND WONDER?
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

He comes on television
And continuously lies
The advice he gives us
Rarely is wise
And the press is there
For him to criticize
And he calls people names
No one denies

We sit and wonder
When will he rise?
To the occasion
And can only surmise
That the answer is rarely
Although he tries
On some occasions
When it applies

He constantly complains
About political hack
Many of which
He himself backs
He’s clearly an enemy
Of the browns and blacks
And a favorite of Fox News
Which no doubt he backs

He talks about making
America great
While he divides us
And promotes raw  hate
Since he’s been in office
He’s been second rate
And that estimation
Is beyond debate

You’re free to live
Or free to die
But do you mind
Me asking why
You would choose
To take the risk
With a virus
As deadly as this

You got cabin fever
So you protest
Because you wanna
Socialize I guess
But that could lead
To one big mess
Causing your death
Nevertheless

It’s right there
Before your eyes
But still some
Wanna minimize
The actual risk
That they face
By taking chances
In any case

Sheltering in place
Ain’t no fun
But it’s preventive
And must be done
To keep the virus
On the run
Why play Russian Roulette
Without a gun?

DEEP CONTEMPLATION
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

I’m sitting here
In deep contemplation
About some things
Affecting our nation
What was normal
Is on vacation
Guess the key
Is for me to be patient

This has changed
The way I think
And here lately
I’ve turned to drink
And maybe that suggests
I’m on the brink
Of having to go see
A good shrink

See it’s hard
To process this
When everything seems
To be amiss
And we all
Might be at risk
I’m hoping that
You get my gist

When  our optimism
Takes a dive
We’ve gotta keep
Hope alive
And that ain’t
No happy talk jive
It’s the best way
For us to survive

IT TAKES TIME...
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Seems it wasn’t
That long ago
There was little
I didn’t know
Guess that just
Goes to show
It takes time
For one to grow

I’ve heard
Some people say
That Rome wasn’t
Built in a day
Youth is wasted
On the young anyway
They don’t gain knowledge
‘Til their hair turns grey

And it all makes
Perfect sense
Knowledge is gained
With experience
Which at times
Can be intense
But it all comes out
In the rinse

You could fill a book
With the things I didn’t know
Back then
Many years ago
When I couldn’t
Keep my ego in tow
And that knowledge
Came to me slow

WHAT’S HE CARE?
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Coronavirus
In the air
Coal pollution
What’s he care?
Environmentally
He’s unaware
That our planet
Has little time to spare

All his predecessor
Did
He wants gone
But won’t admit
He’s *******
About that bit
Obama laid on him
Before Osama was hit

His environmental
Chief
Is a former
Lobbyist and thief
That Causes us
Nothing but grief
Giving coal and oil
Too much relief

Now the nail
Is in the coffin
For our healthcare
He attacks ofen
And his position
Will not soften
As long as his
Power is awesome

Mary loved Freddie,
No doubt
Although she eventually
Opted out
Of their long-termed
Alliance
With a note of
Defiance

Cuz Freddie had changed,
Don’t cha see
So their marriage
Wasn’t meant to be
Cuz he preferred
To be free
To pursue
His other destiny

Though Mary knew him
Very well
And for a while
Was under his spell
Even she
Found it hard to tell
That he liked men
Just as well

But she was
His friend ‘til the end
Despite the mixed signals
He’d send
When he could
No longer pretend
That he was nearing
His end

SLOW TO RESPOND
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Cuz he was slow to respond
Lives are now gone
Yet it hasn’t dawned
That the lies he’s spawned
Are far beyond
Our need to correspond
He has no magic wand
To cement our bond

He’s learned to despise
Those who expose his lies
Which he’s tried to disguise
In ways unwise
A disparaging word
To him is absurd
Cuz haven’t we heard
He’s done all that’s preferred

Here’s the funny thing
He assumes he’s a king
Like the New Jack Swing
It has a certain ring
And as long as they praise
His misbegotten ways
He likes how it plays
In these Coronavirus days

In sweeping displays
His press forays
Go on for days and days
And he’s quick to heap praise
On the things that he’s done
But please name me one
That we can detect
Are not suspect

THE NEW BOB DYLAN
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

For me
It would be thrilling
To be called
The new Bob Dylan
Whether or not
John Prine was willing
Or even found it fulfilling
To have that kind of billing

John’s words
Were like a novel
Causing other
Songwriters to grovel
At the stories
He could tell
From inside
His creative well

To be known as
The new Dylan
Or even as
His fillin
Is an honor
Yes indeed
Once you give ‘em
Both a read

John had a way
With words
Like Dylan
And it occured
To song critics
And the like
When he
Was on a mike

A BAD CASE OF PNEUMONIA
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

I take a flu shot each and every year
And I had a pneumonia vaccine so I didn’t fear
Guess that’s why my *** wasn’t in gear
When the symptoms initially began to appear
I relied on RobiTussin instead
And wound up being a day from dead
When the ambulance was called I was code red
We’re off to Lenox Hill Hospital the driver said

Caught a bad case of pneumonia
Weeks before the Coronavirus hit
Which was something I thought that I couldn’t get
And it really had me feeling like a *******
But I was lucky I have to admit
As I lie there struggling to catch my breath
The hospital had plenty of ventilators left
No need to condole or to be bereft

My family gathered in intensive care
To the person they were acutely aware
That I didn’t have a lot of time to spare
Which gave them all a great big scare
But I told the woman in my life
That I would make it, see she was my wife
So she allowed the doctors to intubate me
That’s why today I’m pneumonia free

For a while it was a crap shoot I  must confess
When my temperature went up I became a hot mess
But the nurses and doctors were among the best
So they induced a coma so I wouldn’t digress
My chances of survival were a mere 50/50
And that kind of diagnosis just isn’t nifty
It was only when they decided to shift me
From the ICU that I began to heal swiftly

This madness
Has to cease
Stop blaming it
On the Chinese
Or others from
The Far East
It’s pandemic
To say the least

In other words
It’s world-wkde
Though it came from China
I’ll confide
And thousands of ‘em
Now have died
Despite the medicines
They have tried

So it has come
Down to this
The whole world
Is at risk
So as you frown
And ball your fist
If you like
I’ll run the list

Let's not strike
Sisters and brothers
Especially those
You view as others
Cuz you would not
Given your druthers
Don't we all come,
From our mothers?

NO ONE SHOULD…
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

No one should think
That it’s okay
For that many people
To pass away
No one should think
That it’s alright
For us to find ourselves
In this plight

No one should just
Simply dismiss
That we are nearing
A great abyss
No one should doubt
For even one second
What this is about
In case your checking

No one should try
To second guess
What we’re being told
But nevertheless
I should go on
Before I digress
To just be alive
Is to be blessed

No one should ignore
The situation that we're in
Because it’s a game
In which we all have skin
And so I must also state
Before it’s much too late
We need to mitigate
There's no time to wait

I’M AMAZED
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

I’m amazed
It took 70 days
For the Trump Administration to react
To the Coronavirus fact
Which they downplayed
Took their time and delayed
Taking constructive acton
To no one’s satisfaction

I’m amazed
That the President
Doesn’t seem phased
By his own errant ways
As he pontificates
And continues to misstate
All the scientific facts
He wants us to relax

I’m amazed
At the price he never pays
For his gross incompetence
That comes at our expense
Charging to the past
What he should have known alas!
While he finds absolution
In his verbal pollution

I’m amazed
That even during these frightful days
He finds novel ways
To prevaricate
The things we hear him state
On national TV
Which we nightly see
Mercy mercy me

A COMING DISASTER
Cedric McClester Apr 2020
By: Cedric McClester

They are predicting
A coming disaster
But what’s gonna happen
On the day after?
Will there be joy
And a return to laughter
Those are the questions
That we’d like an answer

It’s gonna get worse
Before it gets better
Unless we learn to
Follow the letter
Of the advice that
We’re being told
Cuz this isn’t the flu
Or a bad cold

How can our leader
Just acquiesce?
Without looking for
A way out of this mess?
Why should we wonder,
Or have to guess?
Because he has no answers
Nevertheless

Real leadership is
What we’re lacking
With a cabinet comprised
Of those who are acting
What kind of people
Is the man attracting,
Who provide directives
That are not exacting?

AIN’T NO WAY
Cedric McClester Mar 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Mr. President ain’t no way,
That I’m killing me okay?
I don’t care what you say
Even if it’s here to stay
I know you anticipate
Easter as a magic date
In spite of Coronagate
That will somehow seal our fate

Despite what the virus does
You want things the way they was
Could that be just becuz
It’s in your reelection claus
Beg your pardon, it’s quite gorie
Everything ain’t ***** dory
You’re really starting to bore me
Your prognostications are premature see

You’re more concerned with your wealth
Than you are with our health
And so you act as if by stealth
Against the interest of our commonwealth
But we now have a greater need
That clearly trumps you sense of greed
And we’re determined that you not succeed
With counting dollars while we bleed

The death rate is starting to mount
So fast that we’re losing count
Which clearly is tantamount
To you having zeros in your bank account
He has become such a bad actor
Through all of this, money’s his motivating factor
The Commander and Chief is a major distractor
Like dealing with a nuclear reactor

Worldwide Panic
Cedric McClester Mar 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Worldwide panic has taken hold
Due to the Corona Vrus (from what I’m told)
In real time we’re seeing it unfold
And tickets to Cancun can’t be sold
People are afraid to go anywhere
Whether it’s irrational they choose to err
On the side of caution rather than go there
Although it ain’t just Mexico to be fair

You can catch it in a lotta places
So try to avoid confined spaces
Somebody sneezes (there goes a hundred more cases)
And you may be the one that the virus chases

But there are precautions you can take
Wash your hands frequently (and for heaven’s sake)
Don’t touch your mouth after a handshake
By all means avoid making that mistake
These are simple things that you can do
In an effort to avoid the Corona Virus or any Flu
Although it’s simple it’s no less true
And now that you know it’s on you - cos

You can catch it in a lotta places
So try to avoid confined spaces
Somebody sneezes (there goes a hundred more cases)
And you may be the one that the flu bug chases

Worldwide panic has taken hold
Despite the quick responses
From the governments polled
And the measures they’ve taken
That have been quite bold
To bring their countries back in the fold
You can catch it in a lotta places
So try to avoid confined spaces
Somebody sneezes (there goes a hundred more cases)
And you may be the one that the flu bug chases

Seems it’s even worst
Than it at first appeared
Which was the main thing
All those governments feared
Is it any wonder panic has set in
Look at everywhere (that the Corona Virus has  been)
Then say a silent prayer
Can I hear an amen

But there are precautions you can take
Wash your hands frequently (and for heaven’s sake)
Don’t touch your mouth after a handshake
By all means avoid making that mistake
These are simple things that you can do
In an effort to avoid the Swine or any Flu

You’re **** right,
We’re scared!
We were ill-prepared,
For the pandemic
Our intelligence feared
Months before it hit
Which the President
Refuses to admit

He failed to
Heed the warnings
That he was being sent
He just wouldn’t relent
Instead he played it down
Like the evidence
That was found
Was somehow unsound

Now it’s too little
And too late
And let me also state
We’re crushed by the weight
Of his ignorance
Which is so intense
That even to this day
We can’t believe what he has to say

And it won’t,
Just disappear
Or vanish
In thin air
So we had
Best prepare
For the worst
We have to fear

CHASTISEMENT
Cedric McClester Mar 2020
By: Cedric McClester

God sends His wind
And rain
Although it causes pain
Let me try to explain
It isn’t done in vain
If we want Him to hear
The depth of our despair
Let’s acknowledge that He’s there

We need to change our evil ways
Especially these days
Because submission pays
Or else Chastisement stays
It was he who sent the locus
To **** the crops and choke us
We need to change our focus
And this isn’t hocus pocus

Am I committing libel?
You need to read your Bible
Things are getting very tribal
Cause our shared pain is primal
But if I may be so bold
His is the rope to hold
See God is in control
And this has been foretold

Believe it or not
Nothing that we’ve gpt
Occurs without His permission
Despite hoping and wishing
That things were not that way
Have patience it won’t stay
Though God will have His Say
In time we’ll be okay

HE…
Cedric McClester Mar 2020
By: Cedric McClester

He had to be coaxed
To stop calling it a hoax
Along with conservetive blokes
Who were cracking jokes
Prohibiting travel from China
As well as Asia Minor
For an Executive Order signer
Didn’t make him a hardliner

He told us to our faces
There were only 15 cases
But upon what basis,
Was he projecting an oasis?
He tended to dismiss
And continued to insist
We weren’t at an abyss
Because he’s not a realist

When it was time to show and prove
He was slow to move
On measures to improve
The things that should behoove
A president to act
To acquire what we lack
That’s just a salient fact
He should have had our back

Now it’s too little
Or too late
Though it’s open to debate
He might have sealed our fate
But I anticipate
It’s a storm that we can weather
If we’re all in this together
And going forward he’s more clever

Mr.President,
Stop to hear us
We need the truth!
Not smoke and mirrors
No magic bullet’s
Gonna clear us
You had better
Learn to fear us

"Everyone who,
Needs a test,
Will get one"
Nevertheless
It’s high time
That you confess
Just a few will
And that’s at best

We don’t have,
Enough hospital beds
For those infected
Despite the feds
Doing what they can
To assist
Admit that you have
Been remiss

You don’t need to
Addi to the drama
By invoking
President Obama
You’re caught in
A five alarmer
You need a message
That's much calmer

Now that we’re at the brink
It has to make you think
Some might choose to drink
While other merely shrink
But we’ve been here before
And learned to close the door
No matter what’s in store
This too will pass for sure

Oh yeah! It’s serious
And I’m not delirious
Yes,it’s scaring us
But the Lord is preparing us
To change our wicked ways
Or face the end of days
Worldwide His message plays
This is not just another phase

The whole point we’ll be missing
If we don’t begin to listen
In order to change our condition
Which should be our ambition
Human kind’s being squeezed
Clearly God’s not pleased
So let’s get on our knees
And pray we cure this disease

Until then shelter in place
Try not to touch your face
We can save the human race
Through prayer and Divine Grace
This storm we can weather
Not alone, but all together
We just have to be clever
And refuse to give up ever

Jimmy Choo Shoes
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
Cedric McClester

She wears a full length sable coat
Jimmy Choo shoes
Drives a fancy car
But I got news
What’ cha might not know
Is that she’s abused
I guess you could say
She’s payin’ her dues

It doesn’t take much for him
To get upset
And she’ll be on the receiving line
You can bet
Getting beaten down
‘Til her eyes are wet
And he feels justified
With no regret

She tells herself he’s gonna change
In time
But that’s an odd thought
To have crossed her mind
Like tryin’ to return
To the scene of a crime
Where you’re the victim
Inside the chalk line

She’s the envy of those
Who have no way of knowing
‘Bout the pain she endures
That she may not be showing
They see her lifestyle
But not the cost
She has everything
But her soul has been lost

YOUR JOB
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Your  job is to defend him I guess
Though you don’t brief the press
You prefer to be a Fox News guest
And regularly attack all the rest
It’s easy enough to read the tea
Cuz the whole wide world can see
He’s a liar and that is key
He chopped down the cherry tree

Now that his impeachment is alive
The question for Number 45
Is whether or not he’ll survive?
And continue to seemingly thrive
What do you hope to prove
That the President can’t be removed
Even though it is behooved
And the waters willl never be smoothed

Given all of this, you say nevertheless
You have to do your very best
To account for him I guess
And you seem to be passing the test
So you present your alternate facts
And provide what the story lacks
Like before you so did countless hacks
Who proudly call themselves flacks

You csn’t stand up to the give and take
Cuz you would be exposed as a fake
Or someone clearly on the make
So you won’t give the press a break
We’ll see you on the campaign stump
Out there shilling for Dona;d Trump
Who’ll play you for a chump
Before you land in the trash dump

WAS IT SOMETHING I SAID?
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Was it something I said?
That made you go ahead
And finally release the aide
That should have been paid
To the people of Puerto Rico
Don’t pretend you’re an amigo
When you know you haven’t been
Like all the President’s men

Was it something I said?
Or what i’ve written that you’ve read?
That reversed your position instead
Now the matter’s been put to bed
All I can say is it’s about time
What you were doing was a crime
You were walking a thin line
I still think you should get a fine

With the naked eye you could see
The suffering and misery
It wasn’t like brain surgery
Still you chose to let them be
I know what you’ll probably say
Does it matter now anyway?
Because it’s all gonna be okay
Tomorrow is a brighter day

Though at times you can be clever
Please don’t tell me better late than never
When we were left wondering if ever
You would finally pull the cash lever
So let me try to keep it real
Now Puerto Rico can start to heal
And probably have a decent meal
Now that you’ve made the big reveal

Puerto Rico (Adios Mio)
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By:Cedric McClester

What must Puerto Rico do,

To get the aide,

That was entrusted with you?

See it would happen, if they knew

But nobody seems to have a clue

How to get the money that they’re due

After all the suffering they’ve been through

You’re deserving of a great big boo

How much suffering will you allow

Before you relieve them from the heap pile

Of destruction that's mile after mile

Must they get in a line and beg single file?

Sometimes I wonder if you knew

That Puerto Ricans are American too?

It’s a **** shame if you do

Continue down this path that makes ‘em blue

Is it because their names end in vowels

That some think they only need paper towels

I guess that’s for when they relieve their bowels

But they really can’t use your hatred and scowls

How about we place the shoe on the other foot

Would you have the same lack of input

And would what was promised just go kaput?

As you lay in the ashes and the soot

Puerto Rico was an island paradise

But after the hurricane it’s not so nice

And now with the earthquakes it’s been put in a vice

See they’ve asked for your help more than once or twice

Which from all outward appearances isn’t forthcoming

The island’s been ravaged so has its plumbing

Your silence is deafening and also numbing

And now all we hear is the muffled drumming

I  don’t know where to start
Sometimes the going gets rough
If she hasn’t broken your heart
It means you don’t love her enough
And if you can’t be critical when you see
That she’s going astray
I hate to say it, but if you’re asking me?
You didn’t love her anyway

She was the envy of everyone
Once upon a time,
She led the way by her example
As the perfect paradigm
That the whole world looked to
When they wanted a sign
She showed them what to do
And rarely crossed the line

Now all the things she stood for
Seems to have disappeared
We hardly recognize her now
She’s become what we feared
A shadow of her former self
And that makes us scared
I don’t know what her future holds
But we should be prepared

We all should be a mirror
Held up for her to see
Her beauty has all but faded
It’s becoming history
To do nothing but stand idly by
Would be a true travesty
Because those who really loved her
Wouldn’t just let her be

Mother’S Day
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

He was shot down
On the cold concrete
Falling over in a giant heap
A pool of blood
Marked the spot in the street
A chalk outline
Makes the picture complete

After she heard
A knock at her door
That Mother’s Day
Was like none before
He was mistaken
She was quite sure
What did he mean
Her son was no more

Her son was in
Some sort of dispute
Who was right or wrong
At this point is moot
The bottom line is
They started to shoot
And the bullets took
A circuitous route

That Mother’s Day
She’ll never forget
No other one
Had produced such regret
‘Til this very day
She’s still upset
Over the tragic end
That her only son met

MOMENTS IN TIME
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By:Cedric McClester

Moments in time
Go by single file
Though I loved you then
As I love you now
But what did I know
I was just a child
That’s what they’d say
And I’d just smile

Moments in time
Can give definition
Or reason and rhyme
To reminiscing
Like déjà vu
If you stop to listen
It tends to bring back
All that’s now missin’

Moments in time
Have come and gone
Although in my mind
They tend to linger on
Time gets away
But I could be wrong
The things that it conjures
Are so very strong

Moments in time
Snapshots of the mind
That memory captures
Oh how it enraptures
Though moments in time
Eventually fade
Except in the mind
Where they’ve always stayed

The American people
Have been here before
Now once again
We’re at the brink of war
This time self-interest is
Seems at the core
Which is a reason
That we should abhor

Their story shifts at
Each and every turn
So the information that
We had hoped to learn
Isn’t forthcoming
Which is of concern
The things we’re told
Haven’t been confirmed

It turns out now
It was premeditated
His assination wasn’t
As was stated
Months before
It was anticipated
Their rational therefore
Is antiquated

There’s no office in the land
That’s higher
Too bad the occupant’s
A bold-faced liar
The things he says
Doesn’t serve to inspire

Are on fire

WARM THOUGHTS
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Once again my dear,
I’m here projecting
Warm thoughts of you
Sent in your direction
I do it all the time
I must confess
You stay on my mind
Because I’m blessed

I’m blessed to have
You inside my life
And I’m blessed
To have you for a wife
My love for you
Gets stronger everyday
And I love you more
Than I did yesterday

I love you sweetly
And I love you tender
I am yours completely
Baby I surrender
Warm thoughts are
What you engender
I love you
In all of your splendor

Warm thoughts of you
Are all I ever have
It’s non-stop
According to my math
You make me happy
And you make me laugh
I’m so glad
That you crossed my path

How Do You Recover?
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

How do you recover
From a past love you discover
Never went away?
Even though you say
You’ve gotten over it
Because you can’t admit
What your actions reveal
Your heart didn’t heal

A heart’s a fragile thing
And the joy that it can bring
Can be laced with sadness too
That some don’t make it through
To the other side
So their feelings are denied
It’s easier to pretend
That they’ve reached the end

So you think that it has past
You’ve come though it at last
But that’s merely an illusion
That gives you the false conclusion
That you recovered fast
And what’s past is really past
But the dye still has been cast

How do you recover
From a past love you discover
Never went away?
Even though you say
You’ve gotten over it
Because you can’t admit
What your actions reveal
Your heart didn’t heal

My dear
It’s become so clear
That you’re undaunted
Though I thought you wanted
The same thing I wanted
Forever more
And I was so sure
Our love would endure

I fear
One realizes
Life’s full of surprises
But the answer is clear
Not up in the air
You don’t really care
I’ve said it
Now there!

Reality
Can often be
A catastrophe
Depending you see
How it turns out
But here’s the key
There’s no mystery
Once you’ve spilled the tea

I fear
One realizes
Life’s full of surprises
But the answer is clear
Not up in the air
You don’t really care
I’ve said it
Now there!

DOES HE THINK WE FORGET?
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Does he think we forget?
That he lies even yet
About imminent threat
And you can bet
He will do it again
It’s a matter of when
So let’s not pretend
That we don’t comprehend

He’s a Liar and Chief
And a treasury thief
Beyond belief
And there’s no relief
From his Twitter barrage
No it’s not a mirage
It might be sabotage
When he presses discharge

The man’s a disgrace
See he lies in our face
Guess he likes the taste
Yet, in any case
He should be aborted
But he’s still supported
By those
Whom he’s courted

I’m keeping a journal
Cuz hope springs eternal
That he’ll meet the infernal
Aided by some Sterno
I hate to be curt
But his just desert
Is supposed to hurt
Before he in the dirt

One of the lies
That the President told
Is “We took him out,
And we took him cold!”
When the fact of the matter
If I may be so bold
Is in actuality,
The man got rolled

Don’t get me wrong
I don’t sympathize
With a man that the
Whole world should despise
The question to ask is
Was it wise
To remove a man
Who’s revered in Iranian eyes

So let’s talk about
The alleged threat
From the President’s men
That’s all you get
But an addicted gambler
Wouldn’t place a bet
On the veracity
Of what had them upset

Our missiles are bigger
The President says
If we compare them
With theirs
But if we go to war
Who the hell cares
Besides the undertakers
Who increase their shares

THE DUCHESS OF SUSSEX
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

The Duchess of Sussex
Happens to be black
So the racists in Great Britain
Don’t know how to act
Or how to deal with
That salient fact
She was born in America
Now she’s coming back

Prince Harry loves her
And you can tell
He told his royal relatives
To go to hell
But a part-time royal
Isn’t easy to sell
And the Queen hasn’t
Weighed in, as well

They’ll spend half the year
In England
And the other half here
They may lose their allowance
Which they’re well aware
But the both of them lovebirds
Couldn’t give a care
There’s enough in their reserves to share

The Duchess of Sussex
Has been rebuked
Now she’s fed up
And so is her Duke
She’s not a nigress
Nor is she a *****
Those names that they call her
Would make anyone puke

HE’S AN ASS KISSER
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

He’s an *** kisser
And it’s plain to see
Where he’s coming from
There’s no mystery
Clearly he’s not the man
That he used to be
And it’s becoming obvious
If you’re asking me

He’s an *** kisser
There’s no doubt
He’s not very hard
For us to figure out
A master at running
The zig zag route
The Lone Ranger’s horse
Is Silver his is Scout

He’s an *** kisser
Who likes his role
Much like a *****
Working on a stroll
Half naked for a trick
To behold
In inclimate weather
But he doesn’t get cold

He’s an *** kisser
A kind of succubus
Brown nosing it
To gain his master’s trust
Whom he looks upon
With pure lust
And so his legacy
Is turning into dust

IT’S A NEW DECADE
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

I’d tell you, if I knew
What the future holds
But I don’t have a clue
As to what our children
Can look forward to
When truthfully speaking
Their prospects are blue
Think about for a minute, false or true?

Is there a reason
For us to fear?
When we don’t know
Where we’re going from here
And the future’s opaque
But what’s very clear, is
It’s  a new decade
And a brand new year

If we can’t depend on those
Whom we entrust
To protect our interests
What’s that say for us?
When they defer to one man
Our Constitution rusts
Because it’s kept on a shelf
To collect dust

You see by nature
I’m a hopeless optimist
So I hope despite my pessimism
Your getting this
But every time I think about it
I get ******
See I want to rise up
So I can resist

BIBLE PROPHECY
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

He must think
That Evangelicals are forgetting
The Bible prophecy
Called Armageddon
That’s the place
Where we seem heading
Down the slippery *****
That we’re sledding

He places little value
On God’s word
He thinks he knows best
But that’s absurd
See he’s a mere mortal
Though it hasn’t occurred
Because the Judgement of God
Has been deferred

Clearly, he doesn’t believe
In heaven or hell
And that isn’t very hard
For us to tell
He appears to be under
The devil’s spell
But don’t get me wrong,
I still wish him well

Now he’s in the pawn shop
About to hock
His Evangelical supporters
The whole ****** flock
See there’s no need for him
To take stock
When not nary a member
Is prepared to balk

DOUBLE BOLT
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

Hope the lock on Trump’s door
Is a double bolt
It won’t take much more
To stir up a revolt
Which isn’t helped
By the fact he’s a dolt
Who’s badly in need of
An electric jolt

Hope his living quarters
Are secure
Because the generals are coming for him
That’s for sure
And they have a reason
Not to ignore
The fact he’s steadily beating
The drums of war

Hope the President has
A good escape plan
Because it’s clear to one and all
Things are getting out of hand
He’s trying to start a war
With ancient Iran
Comforted by the notion
That he believes he can

Hope America’s dictator’s thinking
Long and hard
About  World War Three
Which he’s about to start
Just to prove to us
That he has rare heart
See he’s prepared to take us
To ‘til death do us part

COUP D’ETAT
Cedric McClester Jan 2020
By: Cedric McClester

The sound of war drums
Aren’t that far,
Could we be headed
For a coup d’etat?
Some say yeah,
Others say nah!
But they blew the man up
Riding in his car

Did he deserve that?
I don’t know
Was there an urgent reason
Why he had to go?
Careful of the bitter
Seeds that you sow
It doesn’t take much
For the Middle East to blow

He may have been somebody
For us to despise,
But was taking him out
Really wise?
He was revered,
In his people’s eyes
See they felt a sense of
Familial ties

Clearly there’s a madman
In the White House
Who has teased dyed hair
And a steely eyed spouse
Who doesn’t seem bothered
That her husband’s a louse
Which should give us all reason
Enough to grouse

I FIND IT HARD TO RELATE…
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

I find it hard to relate
To random acts of hate
What enters the mind?
Why do people cross that line?
It remains a mystery
But throughout human history
Time has been the mirror
But it doesn’t make it clearer

What evil lurks within,
The hearts and minds of men?
That make ‘em perpetuate
Blatant acts of hate
Is difference the excuse
For us to heap abuse
Upon fellow **** sapiens
Think of the message that it sends

Why are we so cruel?
Have we replaced the Golden Rule?
Doesn’t it apply,
To human beings like you and I?
And what none of us can ignore
Is that it’s worth fighting for
To an overwhelming degree
We need reciprocity

The madness has to cease
We must control the  beast
That is contained within
Women as well as men
The answer is love and peace
To say the very least
Which isn’t hard to find
Once we cleanse our mind

Cedric McClester Dec 2019

I can no longer,
Maintain my silence
In the wake of the violence
Being done against,
The Jewish community
With seeming impunity
It’s my considered point of view
That Jewish lives matter too

I can’t countenance
What makes no sense
How does one gain
From inflicting pain?
In random exchanges
Against total strangers
I guess I can’t relate
To that kind of hate

I’m not throwing shade,
But was the decision made
Based on their religion?
Like a sitting pigeon
You’ve learned to despise
And so you victimize
Without rhyme or reason
You make ‘em open season

What did a Jew
Ever do to you?
To make you hate ‘em so
Bet you don’t even know
Why they’re singled out
What’s that all about?
Attacked with guns, knives and pipes
Based on their stereotypes

THE WORLD MAY NOT KNOW...
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

The world may not know
Who he was,
But a man should be measured
By what he does.
In a world full of takers,
It’s rare indeed,
To find someone that unselfishly
Helps others in need.

Melvin Jackson was
That kind of man.
He did what he could,
To extend his hand,
To friends and neighbors
And needy strangers,
Those in which
He had  human exchanges.

Mel road aboard
The Straight Shooter express
He told you what he thought
No one ever had to guess
What he was thinking
Because he’d confess
Whether you liked it or not
He got it off his chess

Many times I called him
Just to say hello,
That would set him off
Invariably he’d want to know,
“What do you want?’
I’d respond, “There you go!
All I wanted to do,
Was to simply say hello”

IT’S ABSURD!
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

It’s absurd!
Since when have you heard,
Of a jury in bed with the defense?
Thus nullifying the suspense
If between the two, there’s collusion
Then the verdict is a foregone conclusion
If it’s a wink and a smile,
Why go on with the trial?

Before engaging those fools
Pelosi wants to know the rules
Which is a reasonable request
Because its been related
What McConnell clearly stated
He’s coordinating with that louse
Who resides in the White House
Thus challenging Pelosi to a joust

If the jury is not impartial
No matter what evidence is marshaled
It’s clear that the deck is stacked
So why choose to get in
A battle you just can’t win
Who cares about their canards
When Pelosi’s still holding the cards
And can choose when the action starts

Senator  Mitch McConnell
Like the farmer Old McDonald
Thinks of the senate as his farm
Where he decides which seeds to sow
In order for the crops to grow
But what he harvests will be bare
Cuz there are weeds everywhere
And Pelosi’s taking his dare

HOMOSEXUALITY
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

I read in the paper
The other day
How someone was beaten
Because they’re gay
Did their assailants hope
To beat it away?
And what does their behavior
Actually say?

Homosexualaity, they might
Not understand
But who said they had to
Become a fan?
In order for their minds
To be able to expand
People are as individual
As are grains of sand

Those who attack people
Because they’re gay
Question themselves
A lot of smart people say
Why else would they
Go out of their way?
In order to indicate
They don’t find it okay

What do their preferences
Have to do with them?
Nobody cares
About who they bend
Or whether they have
A happy end
So shouldn’t we all
Mind our own business then?

Giuliani says
He’s more of a Jew
Than George Soros
Yet he’s less of a Christian
Than most
Catholics may forgive him
At Christmas Mass
But, will their Holy Host?

A casual observer
Might claim
That Giuliani’s insane
For conspiracy hunting
Over in the ukraine
Trying to muddy the waters
And sully Joe Biden’s name
But you know what he’s doing is a crying shame

In the 9/11 aftermath,
He earned universal praise,
But that was a long time ago
Not so much these days
He’s running all over the world
Acting like he’s en-crazed
His fifteen minutes of fame extended
There’s no doubt celebrity pays

Corrupt racketeering charges
Will be dropped on him any day
When he gets his comeuppance
For crimes he’s put into play
Some think it’s his just deserts
But here is the thing about it
They say karma often hurts
And he’ll get his in Eastern District spurts

TRUMP/Pence
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

TRUMP/Pence
Really doesn’t make sense
Except to those who will go
To any lengths
To show the rest of us
How they can be dense
For being supporters
Of TRUMP/Pence

TRUMP/Pence
Is their ticket, and hence,
The Republicans
Are lacking suspense
You won’t find them
Sitting on a fence
Or spewing words
That they tend to mince

TRUMP/Pence
Giuliani’s their defense
But the government
Isn’t sparing any expense
To insure that they both
Get a sentence immense
Something that’s fitting
For TRUMP/Pence

TRUMP/Pence
Been the odd couple since
2016  therefore, and hence
No doubt it will all come out
In the rinse
Cuz the government is clearly
On the offense
So let’s allow the battle to commence

THE REVOLUTION
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

Gil Scott Heron was wrong
When he said in his iconic song,
“The revolution won’t be televised.”
Ya see it’s happening daily
Right before our eyes
And most of us are, none the wise
Cuz someone who we should despise
Is wearing his presidential disguise

The revolution is taking place
At MAGA rallies that have the space
Instigated by a public disgrace
Promoting white supremacy, right in our face
On TV screens to his supporter’s delight
He’s saying things, that even he knows ain’t right
But he says them anyway in order to spite
The rest of us caught in his verbal blight

The revolution signifies change
And often that means it can be strange
How certain things rearrange
And can unravel in the exchange
Some people wanna set the clock back
To a time that can only be labeled, wack
Which they’d like to revisit, as a matter of fact
But time is addition, you can’t subtract

The revolution it would appear
Can give us all quite a scare
Once it is obvious and we’re aware
That it’s not coming, rather it’s here
And it’s on cable and in  the news
It’s your choice, so you can choose
We’re at the point where some refuse
Because not everybody is amused

IT DOESN’T MATTER…
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

It doesn’t matter
With whom she snuggles
She wants our melanin
Without our struggles
She’d rather avoid
Our kinds of troubles
While she acts as if
She lives in a bubble

Because of her affinity
She wants a pass
But if she acts like the enemy
She can kiss my ***
I’ma go on Twitter
And put her on blast
If you’re listening Ms. West
The dye’s been cast

Just because she has
An enhanced derriere
Doesn’t make her black
No way no where near
So she can put as many
Earrings in her ear
But the look she’s striving for
Still won’t be there

I commend her acts
On behalf of criminal justice
While at the White House
She chose to discuss us
Resulting in pardons
Long after they bust us
But she needs to ask,
Does that make her us?

BILL COSBY
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

I’m not gonna kick a man
When he’s down
And yeah, Bill Cosby covered
A lot of ground
See once he was America’s
Favorite clown
But he’s guilty of poor judgement
And that wasn’t sound

We can’t take away
The history that he made
And because of him
The Eddie Murphys got to get paid
See, America’s dad
Was just a role he played
But now he’s incarcerated
For the helpless woman he slayed

Some will even tell ya
That you shouldn’t make fun
Of the disgraced comedian
In light of all that he’s done
But incapacitating women
Has him under the gun
And the best disinfectant
Is the light of the sun

Some have clapped back
Because he proselytized
To the young black men
He often criticized
Acting like a paragon
Or, the all-wise
Turning out to be someone
That we should despise

GENDER FLUID?
Cedric McClester Dec 2019
By: Cedric McClester

When he said,
He was gender fluid,
Did he mean to say
That he just likes to do it?
And it makes no difference
Whether with a druid?
As long as he gets
A  chance to ***** it

Some people are asking
How could that be
When he’s a prime example
Of mas-cu-lin-ity
After all he is,
The actor Billy Dee
And he’s a *** symbol
Wouldn’t you agree?

But he’s been misquoted
From what he’s said
So you mustn’t believe
A word that you read
No he’s not gay
He’s hetero instead
And he’ll only allow
A female in his bed

His supposed fluidity
Is all over the net
Resulting in the accolades
He now frequently gets
But that doesn’t mean
Start placing your bets
Because he’s arrow straight
And has no regrets
