Let’s just suppose,
The victim had been white
With a policeman on his neck,
In broad daylight
Would the reaction be the same
Kind of uptight?
Or would the American people
Simply wanna fight?

Would that kind of law enforcement
Be tolerated?
In These United States,
Or be hated?
And would the President
Choose to complicate it
By releasing careless Tweets
That down rate it

Let’s just suppose,
The shoe was on the other foot
Where do you think that knee,
Might have been put?
And would the pressure
Have been relieved?
If a  desperate white man said,
He couldn’t breathe?

We as a society
Have to change our racist ways
All lives matter
Especially now-a-days
The police have to turn over
A whole brand new leaf
One that doesn’t result
In death and unnecessary grief

Despite all our yappin
Maybe we’ve been nappin’,
Why it keeps on happinin’?
Sometimes overlappin’
While tryin’ to get along,
Where did we go wrong?
It’s the same ‘ole song
Is their racism that strong?

They usually let ‘em slide
So we’ll let you decide
God knows how we’ve tried
And that can’t be denied
They have a virtuosity
For committing an atrocity
With a certain viscosity
It’s an unchanging philosophy

We are not naive
Sayin’ “I can’t breathe!”
If statistic are believed
Don’t mean we’ll be relieved
Nine times out of ten
Woe be unto black men
That police apprehend
Will our wounds ever mend?

Though some may find it strange
We need fundamental change
At home and on the range
Let’s have a fair exchange
It is a long time in comin
Like novacaine it’s numbing
Despite the somber drumming
The machine keeps on humming

We know that he’s a hater,
But is he merely,
Our president,
Or is he a dictator?
It depends on which one
He considers greater
We see his type quite frequently
Down, below the equator

He’s now come down on
Social media,
With an executive order,
As we witness his term in office
Growing shorter and shorter
He doesn’t believe that anyone
Should have the right to check him
But we certainly have the right, not to reelect him

If we didn’t have a Constitution,
He’d rule with an iron fist
Which is what the founding fathers
Encouraged us to resist
We broke away from the King
Not just to elect a despot
But that notwithstanding anyway
That seems what we have got

His gives out executive orders
Like others give out edicts
Unsteadily on his feet
In need of new orthopedics
But be that as it may
It’s just a matter of time
Before we change the guard
And find a brand new paradigm

From his bully pulpit
All we get is *******
Clearly he’s a misfit
You’ll have to admit
He’s a Twitter addict
And that’s problematic
When he’s so emphatic
At causing so much static

You best be believing
I have been retrieving
The lies he’s conceiving
To him it’s like breathing
Despite this pandemic
He’s a master of polemic
That’s almost alchemic
At a rate that’s epidemic

No more benign neglect
Now that he’s being Twitter checked
He’s ******* I suspect
It’s about time, what the heck?
He has nothing to say
About us dying every day
Why should reality get in his way
While pretending it’s okay

From his platform he deflects
By writing bogus checks
To the usual suspects
Or some others he collects
And while by some admired
He’s making others tired
Because we’re not inspired
It’s high time that he’s fired

We’ve come full circle,
So we’ve stopped asking why?
How many black people
Have to needlessly die?
At the hands of police
When something’s gone awry
And is good judgement
Ever gonna apply?

We’ve come full circle,
We’re at the end of our rope
We’d like to be optimistic
But we’re about to give up hope
That anything will change
Without a whole lot of soap
To clean up the mess
Underneath our microscope

We’ve come full circle,
And reached this conclusion
Equal treatment under the law
Is merely an illusion
If it ain’t an errant bullet
Or a fractured skull contusion
It’s death by strangulation
As a result of the confusion

We’ve come full circle,
On this ferris wheel
And if they were in our shoes
They’d know how we feel
All we’re asking is that
They be even keel
Before unnecessarily
Drawing their steel

Clearly the man
Is in a lurch
He now demands
We go to church
Straight away from
White House perch
In defiance to
The latest research

The nation’s death rate
Keeps on rising
Yet the President
Keeps criticizing
The nation’s governors
Without realizing
The safety plans
That they’re devising

Christians Jews and
Muslims all know
They can pray at home
Although, in the mosque
It’s shoulder to shoulder
And toe to toe
Which doesn’t allow
For social distancing yo

I wonder what on earth
Provoked his decision?
Was it politics or
His new found religion
The former rather than the latter
I envision
He campaigns
With a sense of derision

It was the ****
And then the dust
Then crack *******
Became a must
Then ******
Betrayed my trust
Now it’s Oxycodone
For which I lust

Ever since
I was addicted
You could say
I’ve been conflicted
After all
It was who picked it
A time or two
I even kicked it

Over time
I lost my place
They took me to
Another space
Thought i was high
In any case
But I was low
A **** disgrace

That’s my history
As it were,
Don’t ask me which
I most prefer
To tell the truth
It’s been a blur
Whichever or
Doesn't occur
