do you ever listen to
that guitar singing its sweet pain
and feel your chest swell up like an infection
and feel your throat constrict like bad asthma
as you are yet again sorely reminded of
all the things you wish to forget

but you refuse to let a tear escape
because all the progress you have made
will have been for nothing and nothing only
watching the sun rays catch on the city buildings
as you drive drive drive all the way through
wondering why you feel so trapped
when the world feels so big

my favorite song and
I showed you my favorite part
you robbed me of my innocence
and you stole my music and my taste
didn't even have the decency to say sorry
yet you have the audacity to ignore my existence

I'll make sure to drill oil spill worthy holes
into your forehead through rotting skull
to make up for your lacking eye contact
I guess some things never change
We’ll weather the storm

rainbow follows hurricane

here for each other

He threatened.
I cowered.

I threatened.
He laughed.

I live in fear of what this means.
I lose my sense of time
and tend to fill in my book margins
with nonsense
while I draw my own map locations
and gather petals and herbs
for my own tea
sing my own words
to my own beat
twist my hair unnaturally
Wander aimlessly
Wait for the sunlight while the dark embraces
me
Hold my own hands
close to me
While I think of how your words
and my breath
tangle.

I've never really known where I
belong.
But I'm moving.
This is moving.
She is looking to her lap
While he gets up with hesitation
She is pulling at a run in her floral skirt
His eyes wander to those daisies for a moment
Then he turns,     & takes each step   further        further        FURTHER

"Wait! Will you please just wait?" she screams

"What do you want from me?" his voice screams... shakes.    with confusion,    betrayal,       exhaustion?

"Please, just wait" she pleads through tears that feel so foreign on her skin

His eyes meet hers, trace her face, continue down to that run in that floral skirt
He has a nature to love, but a right to hate, to hurt, to avenge

"No." he says

And he is gone
And there is no door that leads back into that room, it seems
That room was a moment, and it passed
And it is gone
And he is gone
AND IT DIDN'T WORK
It didn't work
That floral skirt

I'd rather feel everything fully
than be a calloused soul.
Love is metal wires,
Bent upward,
Knotted together
In matrimony--Or fear--
I've never known which.
As for me? Well;
I'm a bird.
And I refuse to
Have my wings clipped.
Another little short and sweet something.

bambi
i dreamt of you

you warmed me in
your callused hands

and sighed as if
i were a hummingbird
out your gran'pa's cabin

lovely                                                    an'                                                     quick

but i wailed until
my throat was grit
your eyes had turnt'
to green

and the hummingbirds
flew south

to be warmed by
more faithful things

than the rasp of your callused flesh
This is for Calliope Hummingbirds and Number 3.

little fawn with two bowed knee
do not allow
the boy with crooked mouth
so near your porous flesh

little girl with freckled limb
there are too few fibers
on his winter pelt
to shield your ivory skin

little fawn
let him flush the marrow through
till he has ate
the whole of you

little girl
your flesh is clear

but he does not hate you less

although you've disappeared
This is not for Number 3, this one's for younger me.
