What "justice" is there in violent retaliation?
You, we, are not making any progress with ******
Goes for all sides
Families are left destroyed
Hearts ache
We wake tomorrow to do it all over again
With the idea that one more life may equal peace
We teach our children from birth to share, be kind to one another and that violence is not the answer. Then they grow to see that the idea of PEACE is just that, an idea, a fairy tale. I hope that one day, in my life time, we as a species can set aside our differences and give each other a hug. The world could definitely use more hugs.

Like tiny deer ticks
Insecurities bleed us dry.

The morning sun slices through the partially closed curtains
tenderly kissing your neck with a soft white glow
her light has traveled a distance I can hardly fathom
through darkness and nothing
finally resting upon your sleeping eyes
in this stiff hotel bed
our bodies meld together
your warm naked skin against mine
I bury my face into your shoulder
and kiss your back
I want to hold you closer and never let you go
but my muscle and bone bend and fracture
under the weight of time
she pulls like a howling riptide
casting you out to sea
beyond my reach

Yet I wrap my arms around you
with the knowledge
I will one day lose you
whether you fall into the final slumber
or into the embrace of another
we will be torn apart with the force of a dying star
its mass collapsing down to a singular point
so dense that even light cannot escape
its gluttonous grip
but for now
I lock my fingers, I clasp my hands,
I cradle you against my chest and I fight
I fight the very weight of existence
for an extra few seconds in this hotel bed

Slow night
Easy does it
Low light
Try not to covet
The sacred lines
Of our in between
Lost to sharp times
In my own misery
I held us sacred
You dropped my hand
Now tasting these acrid
Memories of sand
Tears still fall
Try as I might
To keep them all
From flooding my sight
I know you have left me
Soaring high above
Yet even in my shadows
Still shines your love
Bright. The sun. A star. The center. This heart still beats for you.

bones
Do you remember
that midwinter night
the one with ice
in the air
the one that
we burned
until it
turned white
that nobody
else could
stand near
do you remember
the dance of
the slender
flames as they
tortured the cold
when they
were done
you glowed
like the sun's
tongue had been
licking
your soul.

Single. Double. Pull it through.
Single. Double. Pull it through.
Chain after chain
Row after row
Blisters on fingers that pull tight
I work well into the night
Only when I have the light
Baskets spill over
Sari silk yarn
Acrylic blends that mold and stretch
A thousand colors tangled
Before my eyes
Into warm, cozy gifts, a birthday surprise
The feel of the hook is home to me
Ask me nicely and I may see
If I can make something gorgeous for you
With hook and yarn as I am known to do
I adore giving home made gifts!
