The clock in the north,
Silent and still,
Never more will it ring,
Stay still on the hill

The war is over
They shout and they cheer,
Happiness grows louder,
Nothing left to fear

But at what cost,
Are the deaths paid?
Nothing for loved ones,
They have been betrayed

Now they lie there,
In the dark, muddy ground,
Nothing to be said,
Not a single sound.

Blood for Blood,
Lies for Lies,
They all fell fighting,
Behind the enemy lines

A world of pain,
A world of suffering,
A world of death,
A world of crying

Now they must lie,
The warriors of war,
For the next great battle
The next great war

Winter

Cold winds blow the autumn leaf from its stand
Twisting and turning in waves of air as it slowly
Falls to the ground.
Until the mighty tree, once so full of green
Lies barren under darkening clouds.
But all is not lost, its sacrifice is not in vain, for
Even as the last leaf falls
As the final animal settles down to wait out the months
The winds are changing.
Glorious green returns and claims its home among the wood
Plants reach up to the sun
Animals crawl out of their burrows to greet the rising day

It was winter.
Now it is spring.

Cry Out
 Jan 2010 Bard
Samuel
We have all lost so much
Our precious homes, your precious touch
And it may seem like such a shame to never see the sun
Trapped here by earthen walls while
Mighty towers crumble, fall
But a small hope is all, illuminating ravaged minds

Cry out for reason
Why would this hell happen here? I
Can't shake this feeling
Caused by an onslaught of fear, and
As my memories fall to the ground
I wonder how

Looking back on the past
Beautiful things never last
We delude ourselves in believing this cannot be true
Concrete turned to rising dust by
Broken minds and broken trust
Billowing in dark destructive clouds
It eats away at you

Cry out for reason
Why would this hell happen here? I
Can't shake this feeling
Caused by an onslaught of fear, and
As my memories fall to the ground
I wonder how

Look Around

The light shining around us is helping us to find
What we have always found to be impossible at night
Wake up my friend, the sun is high in the sky
And the beauty of this place still leaves me tongue-tied

Look around….Look around….
Can’t you feel the energy flow in this river of sound?
Look around….Look around….
Can’t you let your troubles go in this haven that I found?

The woods are getting weary
They can’t take much more
All of this development is ripping out their core
Why can’t we see the beauty, glimpse the tranquil bliss that
Though we pass through for a while
Soon leaves us to reminisce

Look around….Look around….
Can’t you feel the energy flow in this river of sound?
Look around….Look around….
Can’t you let your troubles go in this haven that I found?

There was a time when it was simpler
And we knew just what to do
Making music in the dark
Helped cure the color blue
Dusk is growing near now
Love, reach out for a star
Keep it; hold it, in your hand
And it will take you far

Look around….Look around….
Can’t you feel the energy flow in this river of sound?
Look around….Look around….
Can’t you let your troubles go in this haven that I found?

The clock is ticking
Our time is at an end
Never forget what you’ve learned and
Be sure to send
This message to your loved ones
Be true to your soul
If you pretend you’re someone else, well
It’ll take its toll

Look around….Look around….
Can’t you feel the energy flow in this river of sound?
Look around….Look around….
Can’t you let your troubles go in this haven that I found?

For You

That post-*** lull
Leaves you feeling full
She brushes through your hair
Your thoughts about as heavy as air
She gently rubs your back
Her hands on some invisible track
She listens to your heartbeat
And smiles to you, so sweet
You lay there entangled
Her hair now mangled
Exhaustion sets in
And you know you can't win
You gaze into her eyes
You can't even rise
Instead you take her hand
She makes you feel grand

Like a broken cup of tea,
You only think you are free.

And even though you can't move on your own,
Well, at least you're not alone.

I opened my heart wide
Invited you to come inside
You came in to see what's there
Poked & prodded, left a tear

To forgive yourself for what you did
You sewed it up, sealed the lid
Now my heart hurts, aches from inside
Because of hurt you wanted to hide

I wanted you to be a part of me
I gave in, hoping you could be
More than a friend, just someone I know
More like a sister, someone to help me grow

I opened my heart, and my circle of friends
Knowing my friendship never ends
Instead of seeing what I tried to give you
You left me bleeding, broken, & blue

My heart hurts from the inside
Because of hurt you wanted to hide
