Red Wine

The corners of her smile, reached over and took a hold of her ears
While her eyes jumped from each of mine.
I watched as fond turned to love, and love turned to tears,
As her fingers made their way down my spine,
*Your hair may smell like cider; and your mouth may taste of beers,
- But your love will always be a scarlet red wine.

I’m smacking my lips
Between quick
Sips of my black beer
While an angel sits up in a
Barstool and makes love to
The microphone,
And Although I’m enjoying
Her beautiful voice
I want to cry
And smoke a cigarette
And I almost want to
Hold her and tell her it’s ok
Instead I order another stout
And smell it for no apparent reason

*…I wonder
If this poison
Will ever **** me?

Creatures

Humans are bizarre
And strange creatures.
Riddled with insecurities
And unwanted responsibilities
I see them talking and smoking
There tobacco, dressed in
Animal corpses
They speak of money and
And empty ambitions,
Kissing death
With every kiss
Of their bent cigarettes

Kissing death,
With every
Single
Breath

And they force out
Laughs to keep
Each other company
-One’s checking the time,
On his thick hairy wrists
Quite frequently
While the other one
Pulls his tie loose,
Surely he knows
That he’ll probably never
Break free from that
Flannel noose.

Victims of the 21st century

Mortuus Odio
I've spent day in and day out
Puffing on the blunts of my depression
Sipping on the bottle of my pain
I've cut wrist that bled lakes
Tattooed my pain across my chest
Making it not the first mistake
But the one mistake that could have ended
Years of hatred toward a *****
Resentment towards a *******
Both of whom taken my sanity
Twisting it into the death feigning fantasy
Where blood runs thick and rotting flesh
Smells of sweet rose pedals kissing lavender
I should have cut down
The same way the sun becomes extinguished over ancient blue horizons
I'm tired of the pain
The smell of decadence in the morning
Malice tales sung from harps
As blood sparkles with the sun peeking through the window
Down is so much better than across
Because I know I'll just be another limp lifeless corpse
Hidden from society till the neighbors
Become sick of the wretched smell of my dusty bones

Resubmitting for you consideration. posted to HP, my first week here, and another that got swallowed up in the multitude of words.   But I like it a lot, it makes me smile and perhaps it will find a wider audience, a second time around.

Do Not Put a Poem Here Until You Have Bent your ear to Shakespeare's sonnets

Until you have bent your ear to Shakespeare's sonnets,
Till you have laughed with Ogden Nash,
Wept with Frost, visited Byron's ghost,
Read the songs of King Solomon,
And once you
Despair of being their equal,
Shed your winter coat of worry,
***** your courage to the sticking point,
Begin to write then with reckless courage,
Unfettered abandon, make a fool of yourself!

Scout the competition.
Weep, for you and I will never surpass
The giants who preceeded us, and yet,
**Laugh, cause they thought the same thing as well...
