If you want to serve our country and risk your own life
What or why does it matter how you “identify?”
To be forced to be the gender you were born
Is outrageous, leaving capable humans becoming torn
Serving our country, protecting human lives
Is honorable to us, why are taking away the prize
Just because someone is “different” by living in their own skin
Matching their insides to the outside
Yet your shaming them with sin
It’s utterly disgusting that this is what we’ve become
I stand for everyone hiding who they really are or want to become
I hope others will reach out and take a stand with me
Fight for rights for everyone...

It’s getting old
Tired of fighting

But then being pushed back
Jumping hurdles, being pushed to my limits
Contemplating my options, counting the minutes
Even at my worst, I still push through
Having my family and friends support, I couldn’t ask for a better crew
My name is Stephanie, I am battling breast cancer, but I wanted to say thank you

Someday we will all be gone
Its inevitable, that’s including mom

Whispering willows
Dust filling the sky
Silent cries swirling by
Puff of smoke filtering out
Trying to escape from this place of doubt
I’m so lonely in here, all by myself
A pile of ash just sitting on a shelf
I see you walk by, saying hi
Whispering “I love you” as you pass by
I have never left you, I’m always right here
Feel my loving touch when you have a doubt of fear
Just a pile of ash on a mantle so high
There’s a 100% chance that you’ll hear me cry
Even though my body isn’t physical anymore
I have the same emotions as I did before
I love you, I miss you, I’m angry and sad
But no matter what, I’ll always be your dad
In times of sadness come to me
I’ll guide you through where you need to be
Even though you cannot hear me, so to speak
Feel me place a kiss upon your cheek
As you look up at my urn
As the fire place burns

Many songs play at random times I still can't believe how much time has gone by
I still reflect on the last week of your life
Holding your hand and saying goodbye
I know it's not goodbye, it's see you again
It's a new beginning to this stories end

Liquid strength running through my veins
Releasing the hurt, draining the pain

As your lips
Pressed against mine
I simply melted
Into a pool
Of my own
Tears of joy

There was a young boy
Who wandered by
Peering into the window
As we wondered why
30 minutes or so went by
Standing all alone outside
We finally asked if he was ok
He said he was lost along the way
We brought him inside, out of the rain
He was so grateful, kept saying thanks
He called his mom, who was in New York
Come to find out, he was just lost
His counselor was looking for him, he wandered out on his own
We gave him some water and a slice of pizza of course
They came to get him, asked “how much does he owe?”
I simply relied “ nothing at all”
We took care of him and kept him safe
We made him happy and put a smile on his face
Before they left he came up to me
He said “ My name is Jermaine, I just want to thank you... you have no idea how much that means to me, thank you so much for taking care of me...”
It may not seem much to some of you
But for us tonight, a small act of kindness, really rang true

One specific smell
Will transport you back in time
For me, it’s the smell of fire, smoke burning, like my families house fire...
Seven years later and instantly I flash back to the house being destroyed, seeing all of our belongings ruined..
That smell remains in my nose, building fear inside my body
Have you ever had that moment of panic after a tragedy and suddenly flashback in time?
It happens so often, even after all these years, instantly bursting into tears
Just from that one simple smell...

A cold
Dark
Dreary
Day
Makes for rain
Along the way
Some scattered snow
Freezing rain
Fog filled skies
Trapped tight
Like a ball and chain
Will this weather ever give way
Allowing the sun and warmth
Coming soon one day
Raw and chilly
Cold and dark
Summer where are you
Get lost winter, I am done!

I got my head in the clouds
Looking at stars
Waiting to catch a falling one
Grab it tight  
To make a wish
Putting it close to my heart
Send it up to Heaven
Blowing a kiss
You are sure missed
I hope you catch it
My falling, shooting star...

Everyday is a blessing
Every minute is precious
Every second is beautiful
When I’m with you...

This dress has been through so much
Made by hand, made with love
From picking out the fabrics, sewing by hand
All for our special day, to have him as my man
Almost 9 years later, this dress still holds up
Through my family’s house fire, it was just pure luck
My white dress, with a splash of color, was unharmed, I was shocked
Hanging in my closest, never to be worn again, it hold special meaning, for the day he became my man
This dress has been through so much
Made by hand, made with love
To show “Our Love” for the day we said
“I Do”
I couldn’t imagine a different dress
Made just for me, on our special day

In reality
One day
We will

Gone

One day I wish
To wake up
Having all in the world
Right again....
Or close to it...

Don’t fear what you fear the most
Embrace it
Raise a glass and make a toast
Fear comes in all different forms
Just dance in the rain and wait for the storm
You’ll make it through, you’ve done it before
Don’t give in to fear, don’t let it take hold
Remove the mask, face your fear in the face
Sometimes fear, can be replaced
Support and love can help you through
Make a change, face the world, don’t let fear stop your world

Since that day
Getting better and better
Along the way...

A Robin sitting on the back of a chair
Not a worry or a care
Enjoying the warm springlike air
Oh little birdie would you like to share...
Save a spot for me on the back of the chair
So we can sit together not have a worry or care
Keeping one another company in the warm springlike air
Oh little birdie.....

When you see someone you care about, who is literally deteriorating and dying in front of your eyes, you try and bring as much love and joy to the rest of their life...

My personality spills out onto a blank page, that fills up a story, as I continue to age, nevertheless, my story never crumbles, leaving a lasting impression of me, like a seal of approval

The fear in us
Apprehends the loss
We have not yet had

Wishing I could hit the mute button on some people....

I stare off into space like I’m getting a vision
Sometimes I feel like “That’s so Raven”
Fly through space, enjoy the view
Back to earth and  hit resume
“Yup, That’s me....”

Just like the ticking of the clock

Hearts will break

A chill grew over my body
A sudden burst of engery filled me
Something felt like it passed through me
But no one is there, no one is present
I felt happiness fill my heart
