If you are uncomfortable when you look in the mirror,
keep in mind:
We spent thousands of years
trying to convince the earth
she was flat.

We wrote her maps as evidence of the things we saw;
and she believed them.
She cried tsunamis, and had earthquake breakdowns.

Keep in mind: the Sun never gave up hope.
The earth will keep spinning and breathing
the star-dusty space void of encouragement.

Next time you look in the mirror
and second-guess your potential divinity,
remember you will keep shining and living.

Because the Sun is out there
believing in you,
compensating for lack of the human capacity
to treat each other empathically.

You don’t need proof or approval
to be exactly what you are;
Eventually everyone will see
your infinite beauty.
she wrings the morning
from her paint soaked dress, dreaming
dragonflies hover
becoming sunlight dancing
vast, her fields of flowers bloom
Adapting a previous piece (of the same name) to fit the tanka form.  Experimenting with something new.
Pour it out,
that dis-ease of your remorse.

Lay your broken bones gently
into this cut crystal glass.

See how the light refracts?

each time I pull fingers through my beard
fairytales  come tumbling out my chin
and fall into the mirror of my reflection
of life and how it really was is always will

that very first notation in your mothers medical files
the fact of your existence in situ so to speak or write
so never think you are an island unknown not affecting
affected by the rest of us paperworked puppets hanging
on strings forced into the world of filing and filed.

we talk politics in the pub
the trouble is
no one recognises  poetry in the raw
like it has no bearing
on anything that's said
or life at all
