I like to wear big hats
and old, funny shoes.
I stand in front of the mirror and  pretend
I am Daisy from The Great Gatsby
and I say
"Tom,
I do not love you,
I do not love you,
I do not love
you."
Then you call me.
We see a movie and eat Chinese food
Because you say you like
sweet and sour
pork.
I never liked the
aftertaste.

i always thought i was one of the lucky ones
no worries of troubles that could come
I never thought they would
i watched others problems and thought i understood
Well, ignorance is innocence is bliss
left behind on a forgotten wish
innocence is the ignorance we miss
ignorance lost in the grasp of a fist

the world was a staircase with no such thing as
D
O
    W
        N
an endless cavern of treasures to be found
by wide and eager eyes
unaware and closed to fool’s gold lies
the sky was heaven.
once.
Life was a red balloon
floating through the blue sky
unable to see the stars and ask why
does the sky have to get dark?
why does no one whisper of the angel’s march
to hell.
Because life was once tied to a string
kept in the small hand of innocence.
Once.
Balloons Pop.
glass BREAKS.
Wonders of heaven stop
      truth reveals the fakes.
Timers stop
clocks tick and take
temperatures drop
dreamer’s AWAKE
There's eyes in the back of my head
and fingers,
outstretched,
looking for anything they can

for something,
though they do not know what
A smile - A wink
A feeling in their gut

Something found, yet never read
Something that words just cannot capture
Their voice inside your head
The feelings of a rapture

A love, so fresh
that it could never be again
The feeling of new fingerprints
held tightly in your hand

A high
Unlike any substance can procure
Someone who understands you
who wants to feel what you endure

I've felt it once before,
yet no matter how I try,
I cannot recreate it
and I still cannot find why

Love is the answer,
that's what Rivers sings to me
But it's also a cancer,
and it makes no difference
what you believe
Buzzed freestyle after a really awesome night.
"arson is always the answer"
he says with a delinquent grin
we're ****** and ****** up
smashing our own storefront windows
for the sake of the beauty
in the shattered glass,
in the crimson staining our skin

we keep ourselves busy
tending to our wounds
then brag later, calling them battle scars
in an attempt to counteract
the pitying stares and then
the disgust when it's learned
their source is our own hateful hands

just stroke our teenage egos,
stoke the flames
and we will continue
to set your world ablaze
we'll search for awe and distraction
**** consequence
you know we had no future anyways

Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true --
I love April, I love you.

mûre
there's one thousand
thousand leaves
beautiful in infancy
from outreached arms
bottlegreen glass where clearly
what we were was luminous
naive and happy
and the burn to follow
sanguine crimson alight
throughout my mind
like feathers through fireworks
a great cheer
and then naught
and still
and sleep
and white
and once again
your arms reaching still
cold now
the little lights all gone
robed in muted monochrome
the little lights all gone
please don't forget me.
