I used to bleed everyday; I was the juiciest ******* the block.
I'd wrap you up, wide armed. I used to
    spit
        and clamor;
            and feel
                and fight
                    and ****.
I miss the taste of your sour milk mouth, your breath against my neck.
I miss being shielded from the wind
I miss the wind.
These days, I feel so tangled
    and still;
        broken
            and blistered
                and bound.
There's no honey anymore;
no charm,     no silk,     no gut.

tongue twisting up my sleeves
on cold peach blushing skin you whispered, “sacrifice”
toe to toe
organic matter to organic matter
i try hard to be witty but the words just stumble out
got no poetic tongue, this is as literal as it gets
spat and spewed
my bruised body turned seaside
they knew me by the marks on my shoulder
the mold between my eyelashes
the mildew on my lips
i came out coiled, taut like a flame
skin charred, midnight wedged between my fingers
“where have you been?”
she whispered, voice like iron
i raised my broad stomach and slammed down
head against the pavement
head against the stone
i’m bleeding
i’m bleeding

******* on coins,
I speed towards you
Soft road, Jesus street
You, nothing but a sweet germ growing in my belly
I held you rock solid in my fist
Through all the laughter and cheers,
We went together, spitting sideways
Oh you, my mad child
Born with your hat tipped
I carried you forward
I carry you through
And into blue mist

I was born
Skull shattering
Bled from the bone
In vitro
When my burnt lip bit you
I was bubbling from the knees
The viscose pus beneath the skin boiling
And you ****
He pulled me through dirt, onto curb side, smashed jaw
Caked with stomach acid
Drowning on the car seat
They sat their leering at every corner
Through radiowaves, they drool each pleasure of theirs
But here I am, choking
So I lost the key today
So I lost the key today
So I lost the key today
Cold fingers, skin shaking, through netting
I hide from you
Your thick tongue comes slamming to the edges of my body
I have no words
My mouth shuts for your
Baton bashing
Black boot
Skull shattering

They call her cold night
Moon dripping in from the window sill
Sandstone palms on warm skin
She whispers with oceans trapped between her lips
Flesh curls off the bone onto the tile floor
Cleanse me
Her braids thick like chains,
Slamming against concrete flesh
Her fingers like burlap
Scratching at torn skin
The air spins in and fills my swollen stomach
Absolve me
Our home is a flame,
Waiting to be snuffed
Each doorway turns to dust
Our bodies like kindle scraping splintered wood
Charred lips press into surrender
*Dissolve me
Adelaide Potter May 2014
I keep the blue moon stored in my heart,
Hidden where you can’t rot me
Luring fingers trace the ocean
Broken skull, my brain thick like fog
It pulls from the center
It pulls me apart
