A Thomas Hawkins Jun 2010
The homeless starving
We walk past - heads turned away
A world invisible
A Thomas Hawkins Jun 2010
Tuft of winter coat
Snags upon an open door frame
Escapes the new brush
Tumbles upon hardwood floor
til captured by the old brush
A Thomas Hawkins Jun 2010
Laundry hamper full
Yesterday it was empty
Its contents not mine
My sons room must now be clean
Laundry day i guess for me
A Thomas Hawkins Jun 2010
A naked bulb hangs
No shade hides its modesty
Dimly glowing coil
Is growing ever brighter
Chasing greyness from my room
A Thomas Hawkins Jun 2010
You chirp away all night and day
with chat from those who've naught to say
You annoy me to the bone

You drop, you break, on shore or lake
you cost me a fortune I can't make,
You are my new cellphone

I turn you off I turn you on
my ability for peace is gone
of that there is no doubt

I leave you and lose you wherever I go
I even lost one in the snow
whatever happened to just being out?
A Thomas Hawkins Jun 2010
Fighting against sleep
Eyelids heavy from fatigue
Closed in submission
A Thomas Hawkins Jun 2010
Sharp pains in my chest
Pins and needles in my arm
Could this be the end?
