Treasure Hunting
05/05/2019

Treasure - precious words floating out there
Hunting - to search that we know to exist

Words written by thousands
Now relegated to times past
Speaks of persons mindset
When penned at long last

I like to search at random
Ensuring, it not a chore
Lays out the mood unfolding
Over time, when scored

Many a memories are jarred
By comments on time forgotten
We sigh with a smile, feeling
Elated or downright rotten

Either way, past is now past
Piling up a mountain high
Always intending to revisit
Years, decades, my, time flies

Many a words I may tweak
In light of new perceptions
But that will be misguided
Innocence lost by corrections

Lets jar each other's memories
Revisit words laced with emotions
New flurry of comments back n forth
Reward new life to times forgotten

To truly admire nature in all its beauty
Or the one artists laid down on canvas
Step back, increase your field of vision
Symphony of images your mind shall see
In reality p, as in nature, life is a vicious fight for survival. Vision changes when viewed from a distance This also applies to many conflicts in life.

It's today's currency
By which, ones paid

Those proficiently lie,
Highest positions, occupy

They lie to your face
They lie over the waves

Audacity, to challenge a lie
In hell you shall fry

Poor soul deluded by false truth
Scrambled brain with lies

Here's a lie, there's a lie,
Everywhere a lie, lie

New truth is a lie

Let's take a walk
04/25/2019

He tapped my shoulder
And got my attention
Daydreaming was I
Lost in my thoughts

You look troubled, said he
Life *****, doesn't it
From the moment
One is born,
Till the day
One dies
It's just
One issue after another

Let's take a walk, said he
So I got up
Dusted the sand off my ****
And we started strolling

You know
When I started this journey
I thought I knew it all
Seeded all the plants
Along with all the creatures
Frolicking, like innocent babes
Unfettered

Then something went wrong
I think it was the numbers game
It was easy to take care of a few
But now there are too many

Everybody looks to me
When they are troubled
Hoping that I'll wave a wand
And ****! It'll be all gone

They got what they wanted
Wanted to think for themselves
No longer be babied
No longer my involvement

But you know
I am cursed
I am all knowing
I know who's doing
What, where and when
From bacteria to gargantuan

I can't help one
Without the other getting *******
I am left with few options
Either, to let this ride
Or, or nothing

I know what's troubling you
But you no longer knock on my door
I also know, why not
So you see
Just like you
I am troubled too

Thanks for letting me talk
Thanks for taking this walk
While meditating today, I wondered

Mourning of ones birth
Birth being beginning of death
Celebrating death
Comment from author about the poem:
A haiku ---
'Tis dark side of TRUTH.
If birth is a curse of previous actions, what should we therefore be truly celebrating, Birth or Death!!!!! Once we accept this, we can truly live, free of all qualms, and ensure end of rebirths.

This story has many tentacles
Fervently awaiting "The End"

I Am

Child                 Parent
Spouse        Divorcee
Abused       Abuser
Friend     Enemy
Loved Hated
Simple Simpleton
Transparent Evasive
Amenable Dogmatic
Fearing Fearful
Extremely naive Equally stupid

These and many more masks
That stare back at me
That even the tiniest shard
Reflects a different story

But then I know it too well
That the story I want to tell
Will vastly differ, when
To validate, others are compelled

Though the events remain the same
It's my perception that I hold
Or those viewed by others
Becomes the script on how it's told

I may choose to go it solo
Or rely on others viewpoint
But once exposed on the net
No place to hide in this joint

The critics will come forth
For they viewed it differently
Challenge my version of the tale
For misunderstanding the events, apparently

So you see,
So many tentacles says history
Present myself as a fictional character
Or tell it like a Biography
If I am honest with myself, I won't hold back and tell it like it was, the good, the bad and the ugly. I had a thousand joyous moments and equally sad. Furthermore, I may recall it differently, to other participants of the same event. Even a simple activity, like swinging on a backyard swing, can be written up as a chapter. So many shards, so many tentacles ..... P.S, I drew this in Indian ink, a long time ago, and fits this poem perfectly.

DEMOCRACY
Comment from author about the poem: Every day, what I hear, what I see, is that we are suffocating true democracy. Our will to compromise is dead or dying and we are becoming a nation of extremes. If morons are appreciating bafoons to lead, what else can it be termed. After winning the global war of politics, we lost our own way. Who needs sitcoms and reality shows, when it is being enacted on the largest open air theatre - no addmission required.

We Both **** SMOKE
With every drop of HIGH OCTANE

Come on MAN, let me go
I can already taste VICTORY
I can see the FINISH LINE
That we shall pass in the BLINK of TIME

Muscles wound up, aching
The COUNTDOWN goes from red to green
Left behind only BURNT smell
Where RUBBER meets the ROAD

The whole thing LASTED only a few ticks
But what a THRILL
I would surely need new RUBBER
Before I'm back at the STARTING LINE.

Distant,
it's another land
Someone else's war
Rumblings carried on the wind
Too faint

Far
Not my land
Still someone else's war
Now I can hear the explosions
Interspersing the beat

Near
It's distinct
Still not my war
Amongst a thousand
The sound of a single bullet

Close
Deafening explosions
Cracking, snapping, buzzing
By the millions leaving the muzzles
Whaling, screaming and even the whimpering
But the beat is constant

The beat is constant
The whimpering, the screaming,
The buzzing and the snapping
Those explosions they are
All in my head, and now
It's my inescapable war
And the drum beats
Constantly

Wrinkles hide
Innocence
Youth lived
Loves lost

Age couldn't hide her elegance
Posture accentuated her gracefulness
Softly Spoken, never to repeat her words
Touch so gentle, sensations deeply felt

Whether in simple garment or a gown
Decked in jewels or a strand of pearls
Proficient in many languages for sure
Exuding serenity thru and thru

Indifferent to status and standard
Company sought by both hi and low
Many a friend, and none if any foe
Reminisced by young and old

Moments together, all we needed
Like bashful children to the end
The sly smiles that lit our faces
None of these can ever be lost

We were not meant to be
Her eyes reflected, me to see
She is still holding my hand
As I hold her, in my heart
Not everything in life has to be sad or serious

Apocalypse - World War I
2014

Wasn't this promoted as the "War to end all Wars"

Eager to join, those ignorant souls
Rallied behind the sound of noises, sold
None wanted to miss a chance at fame
Or be called out by their brothers and put to shame
None had experienced the battle cries
Or could conceivably imagine the horrors invented
It became a field for new weapons tried
Their fate, of mass death, was already cemented
Most went to the front line, grossly ill equipped
Believing they'll return soon, as they got shipped
Neither bunker nor trenches were safe harbor to troops amass
Choking, convulsing, fighting to breathe
As they succumbed to the poisonous gases
Lungs crying out, as you hear life's last wheeze
Clambering to climb out of death trap trenches
Only to be ensnared by razor infused barbed wire fences
Then mowed down by bullets thousands per second
From machine guns, another unknown weapon
And what new monster is this item called "tank"
Crushing everything beneath its metal tracks
As all hope of survival drained and sank
Leaving the officers and generals dumb founded in their barracks
And if these were not enough to demoralize the most patriotic spirit
There was that deadly shower that rained down from the flying bird
The only glory lost souls got was a shiny badge of merit
There is no end to this gory tale you must have heard
In trenches, on land and from the sky came the death calling
Over twenty million lost their lives as those innocent bodies kept falling
Those scenes from "Apocalypse World War I, imprinted on my mind
Why intelligence keeps failing, the reason, I cannot find.

You drag yourself out of bed
Mostly, looking half dead
I watch and mimic
Every move you make
You are stumbling to find words
Your tongue twisting in dry
Acrid juices
You look pathetic
Dragging me down with you
Your promises are hollow
You make them everyday
Making yourself presentable
You leave me, as I dread
Trapped in two dimensional
While you indulge
In your addictions
Till I see your haggard self
Face me the next morn

Time, a false perception,
has become the ultimate chronicler of existence,
unidimensional, unidirectional and constant.
The very birth of each individual Perceiver and Observed,
initiates its own filament of Time,
and once initiated, that pendulum remains in perpetual motion, forever existent and recallable for eternity.

This non-entity entity,

and as such, its presence is paramount.

In the absence of the perceiver, all looses relevance.

It's definition remains inexplicable,

I am in an eternal war
I cannot afford to lose
To surrender will be so easy
All I have to do is agree
To become HIS slave
It's not easy to survive
HE won't let me be
Let me pay it down
Even when I am holding all the aces
I can't win the hand
HE has stacked the cards against me
I keep telling myself, stay strong
You don't have many more years left
It can't be much longer
Just over the next hill
Around the next bend
When does this one end
If HE will only show me
If I could just envision
The cause of this existence
If I have the end in sight
Maybe, just maybe
I could bear it to the end

If paying forward
Next one shouldn't be so bad
Will still have to pay
For the deeds of this life, knowing
There will be some trying times ahead
For the past I won't recall
Even when one knows the reason why
It doesn't make it any easier
The only pacification to this existence
Are measured actions, reactions and interactions
This life is the debt for our past deeds. We are living in our personal hell and/or our heaven. How we react in the present (cause) shall become our future (effect).

The loneliness of being
In the vastness of space
Still, all is closing in
Unable to escape

The monotony of living
Is perpetuating same action
Chasing wealth and comfort
Devoid of worthy inspection

Wanton need to be apologetic
Fermenting in darkness of mind
Wasting, the gift of intelligence
Tormenting, reasons, I must find

Many before sought the answer
Reaching the same conclusion
The perennial question of being
Shrouded in sound confusion

There has to be differentiation
Some higher purpose to exist
Some reason for our intelligence
In search of, we must persist

The human species disappeared

The scars left on its surface
And the deep cuts in its belly
Man made structures untended
And mass **** of its valleys
Will be healed by the specie
That allowed others to survive
Though it itself was tortured
By uncontrolled greed and drive

Left behind those timid species
Bred for food and pleasure
Will soon succumb to predators
For no longer pampered as treasure
Those that were caused to go extinct
Regrettably, can no longer be revived
The only solace one can muster,
Those left behind, multiply and survive

Towering structures and machines
Caused by bleeding the land
Show as pock marks on the surface
Over time devoured, where they stand
Left behind also those petro-products
That will take eons to disintegrate
Being absorbed in soils and oceans
Causing survivors pain to regenerate

Choking gasses will immediately cease
Giving survivors a chance and comfort
While the imprint of humans left behind
Eventually crumbling to dust and dirt
As Earth, instantaneously starts to heal
It's amazing, a tiny specie called man,
Even as new eco-system come into play
Caused such destruction, in short span

Earth will instantaneously start to heal
Surviving species taking only their need
And eventually balance will be restored
As future be devoid of man and greed

If this existence is only one chapter
In the book of life, then visualize,
The landscape that it has been,
Full of color and fragrances
That have delighted us, and yes,
Along with dark clouds and barren events
That have periodically shaped our intents.
All we can hope that, looking back,
We did the best we know how.
That we did more right than wrong,
And more good than bad.
That as we live on in the memories of others,
We bring more smiles than frowns.
If our journey is to continue on, then
Knowing that we shall be held accountable
That our acts be not out of ignorance
That our burdens be lighter and bearable.

And we lack any directions

At times it may appear
We control our own destiny
But that's only Fools Gold
That looses it luster

Who here knows
The reason for being

We can't leave the stage
And clueless re the ending

The rain will still fall, and the rivers flow
The plants will still grow and fruit and flower
The birds will still sing, and the insects hum
Mammals and the animals will still roam amid
The forests that will still lushly cover the land
The oceans, where the life began, will churn
Continuing with its amazing eco system
Of abundant blue green algae, krill and coral
Teaming with microbes, fish and mammals
Life will continue to evolve with each passing day
Causing birth and rebirth and survival above all
And upon extinction of one, others will be born

I want to take credit for all my successes
And blames others for my failures
Not realizing that while I was the final connection
The whole world played a part in the end result
So many acts have to align for a successful result
Whereas only one act, even unbeknownst,
Can derail and crush all efforts
Remembering that we are but a lonely cog

So while we rejoice, lest not forget.

Seed of discontent
01/14/2019

Cocooned in a fog of hatred
Flailing to create some space
To reason with the discontented
To bring harmony and grace

The words don't seem to matter
And actions all fall short
When the seed of discontent
Is entrenched in every thought

How do I escape this fog
How do I gain some space
How do I extol some harmony
And stop this awful chase

The seed of discontent has sprouted
The roots of division are strong
From each other's point of view
The other is staunchly wrong

Where is this silent majority
What happened to reasoning
They seem to have surrendered
Scared of being coined 'Appeasing'

The extremes have hijacked
The slightest desire to compromise
And would seem to rather relish
A state of total confusion

The majority has become complacent
And the calmer voices are drowned
As those on the fringes are screaming
Ensuring, there is no common ground

If the voice of reasoning
Doesn't stop the downward spiral
All will surely succumb to
A state of mutual destruction

It's easier not to participate
And not to get involved
Then we are only strengthening
Those voices of discontent

It is mentally exhausting
And totally out of frustration
We seem to have surrendered
To the seed of discontent.

Teach me how to communicate
01/12/2019

It's not enough to know the letters
Or even how to form words or sentences
Nor the meaning of these tools
Teach me how to communicate

I know what I want to say
And even how to say it
But then why am I not understood
Teach me how to communicate

If what I am saying is shrouded
In ulterior motives and misconceptions
Then the meaning is already askewed
Teach me how to communicate

When the relationship is estranged
Then no matter how it is stated
The meaning gets convoluted
Teach me how to communicate

When the intention is compassion
And one wants to be harmonious
Then how does one maintain their cool
Teach me how to communicate

We speak the same language
And form the same sentences
Then why is the conclusion so different
Teach me how to communicate

Why can I not make myself understood
It's not the letters, words or sentences
But how they are perceived
Teach me how to communicate

I know all the alphabets
And even how to form words
I learnt what they mean
And how to use them in a sentence
Then how come I am still misunderstood
Teach me how to communicate
We have lost the art of communication. Instead of talking to each other, we are talking over each other. We feel the only way to get our message across is by shouting the loudest, using profanities or becoming foul-mouthed.

Since we only live in the moment,
A moment is all we have
So why don't we use this moment
To live the utmost we can

Moments past are gone
So let's not dwell on them
Moments yet to come
Are still non-existent

Those we wish to remember
Or wish to be remembered
Then let each moment count
And become a moment ourselves

Think you can so easily deflower me
Rob me of my innocence
Teach me first, those pleasure zones
That I shall forever explore

Into my adulthood
More and more, you invade my dreams
Soon I will take your ghostly mask
And ..............enslave you!
