There are no endings
as long as I have in
my mind.

I always start off so optimistic,
I'm disappointed every time

Starting off expecting nothing
pleasantly surprised

But the voices they keep talking
and the road is hard to find

We start off so high
looking down on all mankind
but as we decend
the
buildings get bigger and bigger
as
reality ascends

There are no endings
as long as I have in my mind

When change it comes
all will never be the same again

It's a rise and a fall
the time of us all

The light starts in the East
Darkness comes in the West

Change is on our finger tips
But gone with the wind

Anxiety sings in apprehensive images
Peace it sings in harmony
The heart it beats so slowly

In the midst forever
In the past forever too

There are no endings
as long as I have in my mind.

One Day the sun will shine
One Dream I'll have my day
For now I sit here waiting
For now I only pray

One Day I'll share bounty
One seed will be a shoot
For now I till the soil
One Dream someday
Will fruit

One Day my ship will harbor
And dock when it is due
I'll unload in labor
But MY DREAM WILL COME TRUE.

I wonder
how our great creator
built a vessel
strong enough
to contain my soul?

Each day my spirit fights
against my skin with violent
jolts as a young bird
seeking exit from a cage.

Unfettered psyche
free from me
bounces among clouds
rolls through deserts,
climbs volcanic ridges
migrates with birds in flight.

Curious instincts guide
my vital force inside and out
like honey bees
scour zinnias in full bloom.

Dare I release my spirit today?

eye
I've lived in the eye of
the storm, looking
west always
watching for
the clouds to
roll in like fat fingers

the ears attuned to
the sound of
thunder

nostrils flaring like some
wild animal waiting
for the cordite smell of
negative ions

tasting blood as my
jaws clench on my tongue

feeling the wind anticipating
the abrasive whip of sand
as it picks up

it's 6:30 am and for some
reason I
look east

the clouds
to my
eyes are great sponges
soaking up the color
of angular light

sleepy birds twitter

i smell the desert's
perfume as she dolls
herself up for
her ardent admirer

del Sol

my mouth
is full of
bittersweet coffee

I can feel no wind at all.

the night's as black as coal
out west...

... and yet there's still morning.
