DON'T TREAD ON ME
TerryD'ArcyRyan Mar 2021
one hand on the world in a spin
agony twists on a single thread
eager to feed the machine
a stranglehold weave
bear the fabric of a lie
wear the symbol in deceit
the day to day insurgence
a gaslight politics
resonates hate
the lure of a crowd
wanting stains
a sea of hands in need
threads the fringe
a needle in motion
steady frame a sewing notion
strums the string
winds the beat
calls marching feet
the tremble will not cease
sedition has a face
to clever lies they sing
freedoms hymns and begging dreams
pen the scars of grief's ink
misery takes a bold leap
holds tight her hammer and swings

A MYSTIC SHADE OF PINK
TerryD'ArcyRyan May 2020
obsolete
folded neat
worn pale pink
the remnants of you

a lasting chance
the heartfelt glance
evanescense
unravels a ribbon

my baby girl
her little dress
rest
upon my chest

tiny arms stretching
reaching
for me
the promise of light

THE HUNTER
TerryD'ArcyRyan Apr 2020
pretty as a picture
he holds her secure
in the palm of his hand
the force of a gesture
devours every breathe
a relentless caress
forever, is one last kiss

a tiny red light, a float in the nigh
shadows outline it's conductor
relished in a smoke delight
the hunter's stance
leans with a framed intent
a stalker relents
crouching silent

this is clear
as a whisper in the ear
the hunter is precisely near
thrilled in every utter of the struggle
a cascade of links unravel
distant cries fall
a clatter of metal

pretty as a picture
he holds her secure
in the palm of his hand
the force of a gesture
devours every breathe
a relentless caress
forever, is one last kiss

THE BEHOLDER

light strikes
beneath the cracks
spiral maps
trace broken glass
splinter and refract
mirror to a view
a fleeting likeness
an image to please
the beauty
you see
bows to the lie
gives in believe
inspires a disguise
as a smile to greet
destiny frees
the willing to need
sight of a dream
keep us serene
tossed hearts of stone
skip the surface
battered to beat
the sinking weight
plunges deep
ripples the water break
adrift bittersweet
hands of a river
surrender to feed
a thread of device
sewn of means
seam to seam
the intricate scheme
pull laces upon strings
reap an infinite weave
a gathered neat

TRIPPING THE LIGHT
TerryD'ArcyRyan Jan 2020
twilights habitual reach
trickles softly
arises a shade covering
drapes the frame to a view
imposes with a lean
lounges in a requiem
perched upon a window brink
fallen sleepless again
gazing the horizon

inspires a simple measure
the shimmer closer
a marvel of visible light
strikes the window blind
touches battered and savage
scatters in a sea of sparks
impressions delight
the agony to defy
the stars falling from my eyes

a push to a step
a plunge in the luminesce
entwined inside a twinkling
twisting, turning ,receding
dwindles for a crushing flux
spills of white
shine of gold
spinning silver bright
dims the darkness cold

soar in the heavens
seek to find
a place to die
no remorse
not a single cry
the smallest things
now hidden inside
this is where
I reside

DEATH
TerryD'ArcyRyan Jan 2020
the sky
held my elegant shadow
against the long winter day
with the falling of the sun
fell a bird
fallen on the grace
of a cold blooded race
the look in her eyes
I will never escape
her silence reached across
to touch my trembling flesh
the familiar was gone
where softness and youth once lived
a sea roared
upon the mountains in my heart
long winter days
came to an end
light cast under windows
I saw your old things, dolls and swings
life was taught here
like the sound in a seashell
it echoes over the wall
where my heart believes
the fallen bird found peace
as I hear her song with the falling sun
warm winter spirits
I will remember you by
reach me now in dreams
your spirit I will always know
but your death
I can not hold

The Gesture to an Image
TerryD'ArcyRyan Jan 2020
a conjured motion
breathes the air
blows the wind
an elegant stir
impressions blur
scatter to be seen
the upstage of a dream
a flash to a flickr
Overture in a phantom
one leap follows
another carves hollow
reflects a surface shallow
the recall of your face
captured in our space
shadows bent into a view
intangible hammers sway
nurture to a frame
repose for a grand scheme
moving evanescence fonder
the smile waking wonder
surrendered under glass
covet a parallel perfection
fierce wild screams
drown the enchant
the bewildered struggle
a devoured motion

THE DARKLING
TerryD'ArcyRyan Dec 2019
fear drives the dark
death rides sight unseen
devise a wicked threshold
miles gained while catching sleep
lost dreams and vague debris
passersby and inbetweens
the momentum of obscurity

time flickers in a snap
flees an instance
outline against brights beam
a moving silhouette
the weight of grief
hanging from trees
regret breathes in sweet
the swing of the dead

the tears of misery bleed
soon to seed
sharp stabs seeking green
a means to plunge deep
seeking a pulse to beat
true goes the steady stream
flowing tree to tree

shadowy bends bow to break
twisted sprigs move climbing feet
knotted tangled trunks beneath
a crown of twigs joined to extend
obscure limbs held content
a sea of branches transcends
rises steep to oversee
beyond the leaves

HAMMER ON METAL
TerryD'ArcyRyan Dec 2019
man kneels in honor
dubbed a hammer
to the gods
creating his place
in a hum and rattle
tracking times space
to a worthy rival
hanging windows in vigil
hoping to find
a flash in the sky
the fall to fly
lost inside a battle cry
hammer on metal
screams the sound
agony’s pleasure
lost and found
again and over
an echo responds
calling you home
while blinding profound
the cue recurs
impairing the ears
a place to set a crown
willing the able target
to a single shot
a blind round
gripping tight to enamor
quick and quicker
one finger on the trigger
a symbol is named
all ages can be a player
the rules come undone
to beat a new order
dooms impending future
a grinding ax
cast to seize
iron wheels at soaring speed
the meager flicker
a skip of a beat
jumps the track
a chain snaps back
releases a bullet named terror
mayhem competes
within this conflict
lives just past bliss's hitch
tattooed in metals ink
surrendered skin
feels pains true kiss
thunder is envious
with lightnings perfect hit
hammer on metal
as the gods crack their whip

Terry D'Arcy-Ryan
The first place I called home after prison, Apartment # 205. I lived there with my son 30, my two nephews in their 20's and my sister. This was a very small apartment no room for more than one and there were five of us. The constant knocking for the boys of friends, girls and party's. My sister and I always had our ex's trying to move in. We all had different schedules. The knocking represents the revolving door open 24/7 and temptation itself. I mock the family unit here over and over because there is no order in mine at present. I can endure almost anything for family but the day my son brought home a puppy I tapped out. If your still reading thank you and God Bless.

trapped captive to an attic

hope tapping on the window pane
a rap for the mocking
sounds a cadence walking
the rhythm of keys jingling
turning on a swinging chain
the view soars beyond iron bars
watch over a skylined corridor
through a cracked mirror
searching for a lost child
gone far into the abyss
grey clouds shed tears

roars for a thunders rest
sadness mourns while evanescent
the wonder of a child spirit

she laughs sometimes
as I look in her eyes
bright like the sunlight
I keep my disguise

her garden produces
upon command
turning the land
I dig with her hands

we  bide side by side
holding tight seeds that are me
love and hate are buried here
pushing flowers sweet

  water drops splatter
a storm at our fingertips
these tears are hers
she asked me for this

there in the garden
we sat without blame
season's of wonder fade their color
life's marrow remains

she laughs sometimes

bright like the sunlight
I keep my disguise

INCEPTIONS STREAM
TerryD'ArcyRyan Mar 2019
as a current flows
erosion breaks and bows
the current compass bound
coursing the coastal crown
at last it spills into a restless sea
water divides and moves the shore
with channels quick to bank and restore
the simple watercourse repeats
as the world is shaped
a river to a stream

beneath the raging surface
embedded in depths wakeless
the soft mud ensures
the tall grass grows verdant
extending above into the torrent
we hold onto leaves flowing in the entwine
a habitat dwells in this open current
all existence of my kind
populate the shoreline
maintaining the confines
since the river's inception
sustaining a water raging habitation

the very moment we can grasp a willow
the burden is upon us to never let go
the waterways rush high and low
a constant frame works the undertow
whispers travel to tell forbidden tales
fables of impetuous spirits and rebels
the adventurous who climb to the surface
then lost to the evils of a land too vast
the bravest attempt to swim as an outcast
pulled down to be eaten sweet by waters deep

despite the tales
a voice inside implores “let go”
the result either way is a life sentence
to an endlessness into the nothingness
I will be just another fib for the storytellers
every moment to a free chance
will be worth death ‘s acquaintance
the waters deafening roar
the voice demanding freedom’s detour
the essence of life to believe in more
set me free
I let go

to be forever mine
a wager with the devil
paid with free will
to know why
beauty took your eyes

Terry Darcy-Ryan
When I was a child my father was just short of a Hero. Tall, strong and young. As we get older Dads become so normal and we see them as just human. I myself have refused to grow old as long as I can. My Father is 79 years old he is no longer the young man but an older version I barely recognize. Yesterday I paid my dad a visit, I can now look him in the eye's he has lost inches of his height. No longer the vision of youth. Our visit was good and talking to him I can still see a glimpse into the Dad of my youth. He speaks of my mother and his beloved second wife most the time I was there, they are both deceased. When I left I stopped briefly to write this line. " Beauty took his eyes, their almost all he sees, besides me " If you are still reading I thank you and God Bless

FURY
TerryD'ArcyRyan Jan 2019
turning inside a cage
despair barters hope to seethe
wraith's beating fists heavy beneath
vicious growls a threat of means
the ominous promise to break free
baleful sounds from your fiend
inspire violent screams
jaded eyes weep for time to see
depravity’s push to crawl and seek
momentum winding tight to a need
sparks fly for rage to breath
a lust to hunt crouches discreet
the hunger for fury no longer sleeps
despair barters hope to seethe
turning inside a cage

THE KEY
TerryD'ArcyRyan Nov 2018
a warning shot
triggers the clock
heads turn to every second
enters the flip of a magnet

a distinction to please
entropy finds a seat
takes the rein
broken strings gathered neat

provokes an impulse
the overture tumbles
pushes a soft warm breeze
leans in with an ease
steals the air I breathe
holds the key

CATCHING A TRAIN
TerryD'ArcyRyan Nov 2018
the embark of a new day
kilters to the hand on a rail
lost beside the meager display
ground down remains of prey

the shuffle of blind insist
a march of unraveled bliss
all aboard a near miss
no time to resist

time wanders a train
the slow motion of a stain
bends back the will
misery’s honor forever stills

a life within reach
belief lies beneath a mask
arms a pressing disguise
bangs at an irrespective demise

daydreams for impressions bloom
cracked glass still reflects
the worlds mass on the move
turning hope in a kaleidoscope view

conflicts try a mind for limits
defend a paradox unseen
the fury to push back mean
runs free while praying for a leash

THE WEAVER OF DREAMS
TerryD'ArcyRyan Nov 2018
the scope in a turning view
ties the hands high over hues
embodies a mask of black
a sticky webbed deceit
stretched over eyes

plays mean for a wicked need
an intricate motion is the catch
shrewd dominates the luminesce
flickers of surrender are devoured
creates a tangled flux

tears of a flower lost in color
cluster in pale beams
sight slivers in reflection
the shine climbing a slide
slips through the mind

hums a childhood rhyme
steps over time so far
singing a wish upon a star
a joyous scatter for chairs
circle to stop is the anxious feed

tricked in a play for keeps
recruits a ball for a chain
conspires a passion to redeem
aims high and jumps beyond
slows to a falling speed

the heart of an arrow
beeline threw a target
buries deep a sharp point
passes screams in between
patches of a quilt lacking seam
ever sleeps the weaver of dreams

THE POISON APPLE
TerryD'ArcyRyan Oct 2018
the serrated edge of steel
cuts a heart deeper to still
the sharp insisting texture
hard press a pulse severe
desires first words
pull into the soft of a whisper
the fall inside of bliss
denial is romance with a kiss
the ordinary dance
for a game of chance
promise names the secret
a hand on a veil
temptation poisons the apple
hope will devour
nudge drives the push
the senses provoke a passion
a pendulum of wishful momentum
surrenders to simply broken
holds the mystery in beauty
wakes sleeping brutality
she stretches and stands
begins a two step warning
the clack of metal
a ping to timbre
a round to a chamber
slow moves the action deep in a scream
the sound of a shot complete
stirs a marrow sweet
as a magnet lacks compromise
****** repeats the beat
a tongue to the cheek
down to the last shell
a hate infallible
cuts a heart deeper to still
the serrated edge of steel

A Scary Place for Boys
TerryD'ArcyRyan Oct 2018
the pull of a stare
a flicker of sparks
eyes meet so sweet
caught in the stare
cheek to lips a gentle brush
desire delivers in the click of a lock
hands clutch tight on your neck
a gripping strength, a slow squeeze
the mind dazed, a hunt to breathe
hardwired impulse, to a raw surging force
reaching, touching, the rise stricken
claws at hands in a grip
the steadfast capture
enforce of an iron reap
the heat and hiss of a monster
sounds a sharp slice in your ear
tears fall for God’s wretched care
the kiss dry's upon your cheek

final is so clear
a silent suffocation
an impression sincere
pain defends the will to suffer
wounds heal and fade
separates the mind free to fear
a look of your outline is everywhere
turning quick to catch the heavy stare
caught off guard bows down to despair
the power deprived is no longer mine
broken twisted places it deep inside
drowning beneath a shallow surface
paralyzed by the danger of your kiss
stopped by a red light remembrance
fingers still search and retrace
the dignity ravaged in a waste
incapable of trust
I live buried alive
I look for you everywhere
I sleep on the furthest edge of a cliff
I wake trespassing the abyss

The Mechanism
TerryD'ArcyRyan Oct 2018
trapped in a snare
captivated by the glare
a primitive trap its clear
the startle from a borrowed gesture
provoked the out gunned deer
trespassing all fear
a perch the measure of a wire
hovering the dawn of a fighter

conviction is the large leaps
belief the hesitant small steps
slumber holds every wonder
keeps your eyes on the prize
hope is still the promise
beating rain from the sky
bliss performs a final trick
now yellow bricks are only bricks

cannot choose a side
constitutes a place to abide
self preservation yields
an action ambivalent to strife
the cowardly deceit
a willing disguise
once upon a time
begins again, and despite

feeds the hand of despair
narrows the mind
bleeds what remains
slowly carves a heart in vain
free to balance a chain
the high price of pain
renders a perpetual device
incapable of compromise

push back or die
swallow the vile
be the end to denial
nothing is final
the fire inside struggle
rises beyond rubble
shines for a reluctant fighter
captivated by the glare
trapped in a snare

Hammered Metal Poetry
TerryD'ArcyRyan Oct 2018
hard hit pieces of metal

bullet and fasten

the perfect tool

hand held weapon

finger on the trigger

an impulse so pure

hope follows near

a click of a tap complete the design

strikes metal on metal

never standing beside

fractured and battered

**** or stun

trigger for a hammer

holds the power

a weight in balance

slight twist of the wrist

a rush inside the stretch

rewards the protest

strikes down hard

a click of gears

free the rip of claws

destiny, must choose or stall

forever still walking the wall

pushing the hands that wind

life and chaos divine

The Thing that Remains
TerryD'ArcyRyan Oct 2018
the thing that remains

beside your ring

the perfect pitch walks across skin

pursues kept emotion

crouching, advancing, staying alive

climbing the high dive

barred from the top pier

hammered wings flutter

a tiger pacing the floor

higher ground is one room over

still a step down is the lure

regrets keep the watch on forever

every shut of the door a betrayal

beyond sight leads to denial

hoping away and all the while

missing the idea

mile upon mile

hand on the dial

switching the channel

the nick of time to enamored

another color ready to dazzle

bliss knows no secret

still the smallest impair

tight against the inner ear

that is your fear

thread and woven to follow

the forged end of a needle

keeping a clock down to the chime

trapped in the sound of a whisper

beneath the threshold of a promise

quickly measured for sacrifice

sorrow swings a rope despite

the subtle slip of a knife

a seamless wreckage haste

night becomes today

and the thing that remains

PAUPER ANGUSTUM
TerryD'ArcyRyan Sep 2018
a man of means and meager will
perched upon his window sill
playing vague for the promise of power
sings a song of a beg for the borrow
last chance, take the lead or follow
deny the headline buried shallow
a wink for here today gone tomorrow

patronize our cornerstone
lie to cover a backbone
stand upon the working hands
a great pretender in command
the artistic gesture moves the band
a flaunt for the sake of humanity
jaded swings on a strand

depravity seeks a bended knee
prosperity stands with hypocrisy
all to shake down a charity
inspires food for the Frey
feed the mighty, deny the small
the future strums for us all
as the fool dances, a fool circle

a lust to hunt is the pounce of greed
posed the tiger crouching mean
we see a coward dwelling in debris
fallen deep beside the seeds for spring
every bloom fighting for the surface
eager to bend, flourish, live to die savage
the grasp to breathe, a place to seethe

REBEL ENGINE
TerryD'ArcyRyan Sep 2018
pursuing the moon with a spark of bleached light
a pendant ride along flume marks the sky for time
the roar of a constant flight warns down the line
a serpent's path in a fly by night, tightly rolling tale
speed is the means and meaner on these rails
track endures every mile marker past perpetual
escaped steam taunts with a slow hiss and miss
leader with a grinding ax and wind of the iron spit
cadence is the sound of steels sync and cast
the clank of iron on track stacked for rolling fast
passes any beast around worth a match
the wheels a seizing master of tortured might
to this man made beast now a soaring steed
down the line a tremble is the fair warning heed
vibrations count seconds to the sight of steam
a peak of bleak light blinds with a stout beam
fear stands clear this fueled Goliath feeds a need
built for a rolling fury, Rebel Engine #353

LEAVING FATE
TerryD'ArcyRyan Sep 2018
we are chosen
the softest revelation
whispers in the ear
a guided gesture
resides in stars
every fallen sparkle
a trail of wonder

blinded by choice
good and evil are a delusion
the embers burn bright on both sides
nobles bend and humble the saved
the willing serve a master
we all feed the flames
until a whisper
strikes never

the audible silence
calm divine madness
the next toss of a coin
tumbles in promise
as water pours
over clasped hands
holding a prayer

no whispers in the ear
no stars fallen trail
no wonder of a tale
the rear-view mirror
frames a life without fear
action without regret
leaving without fate

I See You
TerryD'ArcyRyan Sep 2018
rebel slayers need not try although I sometimes wear your symbol in angst never on a sleeve it interferes with black on black anywhere else is just trash so keep the status sign this rebel is in it deep climbing dangerously high for a dive in the shallow side

I see you reading every word of your book  “ The Guide to Conduct “

a social distorted sway and swing with a melody strolled by taking me past surprise to a shake I was on my feet then it hit so sweet a beat to rock out with the playing of drums breaking glass looking for reckless in the split of a second chance

I see you singing along so quiet like it's a secret

I love a shortcut home I had a future glance wanting to dance with the starlight I turned around crossed over the wrong tracks missed a turn three blocks back too late I’m doing eighty in a thirty at three in the morning on the rampant fast road to hell

I see you keeping track making sure I don't step on a crack

this bad boy took my hand dressed head to toe completely severe he filled my head with anarchy moving in like the fog his risky presence sending off alarms that scream of self destruction I drift with his words softly safety to a windows ledge

I see you waiting painting by numbers

provoked gambler I call the time to a big blind no counting the money at face value I stash it I stack it the rest is cut in half to pay in full my pie in the sky high habit of looking through a kaleidoscope with a Spiro-graph map I never run out of angles

I see you counting and following directions

when on the run I travel alone to an old friend he hops in he turns around shoots his mouth bathing in the sun to cast out the dark of a dream I once forgot to claim as mine it is crystal clear and sinking deep in my tears as I chase the moon through an unpredictable dark

I see you standing there believing and wishing on a star

the last chance tripped dropping the ball with no time left to shoot out of bounds to find a win we stand fast with only 9 seconds left how should I spend it if I take the real deal a spin of the wheel for the only thing left it comes down to fate or the true test of fortune

I see you with the smile in your eyes ………    go ahead take a shot

Insidious View to a Spider
TerryD'ArcyRyan Sep 2018
menacing black silhouette occupant of doom
silently working a slow venom bloom
deliberate struts on a stretch of silk string
pin point needles work threads to cling
long elegant strands tethered for a crossing

woven rows of windows
lies kept inside silk blinds in tow
ominous, outlaw perched beside terror
another victim caught in a sticky horror
courage moves fear a step closer to capture

intricate weave of warfare
the snare into hopeless surrender
thralled by the looming ferocious creature
simply spinning reflex into smother
the insidious view of a spider

Dreams of Wings
TerryD'ArcyRyan Aug 2018
air bends against my body
touching willows in the wind
the stream curves below
drifting above then pulls back again
constant movement a weave to a thread
shades of white and grey expand
faces inside are tempted and hide
divine right shines the sense bright
dark sky chanters herald in melodic design

human limitations sleep quietly
perched inside
exposed by an unkind light
waking truth and departure from flight
joined with fallen others lost in descent
our plea a mere bellow in the darkest midnight
a vision of disappearing sights
leaving alone the moon to it's glow
fallen others before us behold
lighting a land of green with gold

countless stars dismount and bend in honor
stardust falls like snow lighting the road
this noble salute from heaven emulates for evil or good
mesmerized is holding flight as a mystery told
pulling undone this true right of second nature
it is the prize deep inside or a map to a treasure
falling further to find
a world stacked sky high in decline
the dark executioner waiting times unwind
complete with sweets from a demon queen
ruler of vengeance and anger
mere weapons for hire
aimed to rob the earth of color

we fall whispers of a feather seeking prayer
reaching for the key to grace's door
blinded by tales of heavenly desire
and our tricky devil living under the floor
