Journey
Ramsey Tawfick Feb 2018
A child engages in melodic sleep,
As he dreams, songs of innocence play,
A whirling mobile illuminates his sky,
Yet he begins to grow.

A boy runs down a narrow street,
As he runs, his knees begin to buckle,
A stupendous weight is dropped upon him,
Yet he keeps running.

An adolescent ponders on a roof,
As he thinks, waves of doubt flood his psyche,
A disease of self- inhibition begins to corrupt him,
Yet he keeps smiling.

A man sits in an office cubicle,
As he works, thundering determination resides,
An ethos of strengthened purpose and resolve,
Yet he keeps striving.

An elder slumps in a valley,
As he lays, antiquated regrets obsess his mind,
As he remains ardent but somewhat dissatisfied,
There is no where left to go.

He has completed his journey
