An unseen alley
Pranav Mahajan Jan 2018
Walked through the streets,
Had no idea where to go.
Found an unseen alley,
Felt all my thoughts rally.

Where does it go?
Into the light or into the dark?
What will I find?
What I wanted or what I dreaded?

Afraid, I walked away
And today when I came back,
It was no longer there.
My heart filled with regret,
Over something I could have felt.

After the dark
Pranav Mahajan Dec 2017
Looked into the dark,
I swear it could see me too.
Tried to remove the mark,
The black turned blue.

Resolve.

What matters when your blood's gone cold,
When the colour fades away from your eyes,
When your heart has sunk to a bottomless pit?

Naught but a desire for life remains,
Guiding me in my dreams.
Held back by chains of the days past,
Ruminating how to move ahead.

All I know is I'm not finished yet,
I'll make myself a better grave.

My inheritance.
Pranav Mahajan May 2020
Once again, the shades are closing in,
Only escape is locked with my dreams.
Heavy is the curse borne by my kin,
Soon my turn will come, it seems.

Mother was eaten up from within,
Though I could never hear her screams.
She drowned to win her battle,
A different path I'm trying to weave.

Hush, not so loud, this mind is brittle!
Go away or make them leave!
Oh listen to fate's cruel chuckle,
She won't stop till she makes me a reason to grieve.

A letter to her.

Dressed in radiant sunlight,
Found your place in my heart,
Made it yours, filled it with warmth.

Your soul intertwined with mine,
Adorning my being like a jewel,
Shining, beautiful, strong.

You bring indescribable joy,
As strong as wild rivers' flow.

Wish to be your home,
Not ever give you a reason to let go,
Have you forever and more.

You are my home,
For every today and tomorrow.
This is supposed to be sort of a birthday gift for someone special to me and I would really, really appreciate any suggestions for improvement. TIA 😊
