When you talk to me
Your words don’t touch my ears
What you said to me
I might as well not even hear

When you write to me
I see nothing but a blank page
Those words you wrote to me
Are words in which I can’t even engage

How can I know you
While you’re in that disguise?
What’s the point of you
When you say nothing but lies?

When you gaze at me
They’re just empty blank stares
That look you gave me
Nothing more than a mask you wear

How can I see you
When you can’t even look me in the eyes?
What’s even the point of you
When you say nothing but lies?

You can’t see no evil
Hear no evil
And speak no evil
When all you ever do is deceive

You can’t see no evil
Hear no evil
And speak no evil
If nothing about you can be believed

When you say you love me
What do you expect me to do?
I’d simply be hypocritical
If I said I love you too

So how can I love you
When your love is nothing I recognize?
What’s the point of you
When you say nothing but lies?

Can a funeral be held,
For someone not yet dead?
Is there a way to mourn,
Those simply lost in their head?

How can such a castaway,
Suddenly emerge so engrossed?
Is it possible to be haunted,
By a lost soul instead of a ghost?

What happened to the smile?
Can you even give me a clue?
You were just my style
What happened to the angel that I once knew?

How can you convey feelings,
To those who don’t feel?
How would you portray reality,
When it isn’t even deemed real?

Is there any meaning,
For words said to deaf ears?
What do you even see,
When you look into a mirror?

What happened to the laughter?
Can you even give me a clue?
Thought we’d live happily ever after
What happened to the angel that I once knew?

What happened to the hope?
Can you even give me a clue?
Only with you could I cope
What happened to the angel that I once knew?

What happened to the love?
Can you even give me a clue?
For you I’d go beyond and above
What happened to the angel that I once knew?

Facing the light at the end of the tunnel,
While wandering dark endless trails,
Given the choice of smooth pavement,
And then somehow walking on nails.

Unable to swim and treading water,
A lifeguard reaching their hand down,
So easy to grab and to take hold,
But for you it’s even easier to drown.

You are shown the way,
You see how to get through,
But you will never make it,
When your greatest enemy is you!

Laying in bed you are terminally ill,
By your side is the recipe for a cure,
Could be breathing the fresh air tomorrow,
But today’s poison is what you prefer.

Promising to change,
And hiding behind lies,
You dress like an angel,
When you’re a devil in disguise.

You are given the word,
You know what to do,
But how do you survive,
When your greatest enemy is you?

Walking on nails,
Then choosing to drown,
Neglecting crucial remedies,
Is why you wear the devil’s gown.

Look into the mirror,
I promise there will be a reflection,
Accept that you are your greatest enemy,
And you will head in the right direction.
