Seeing you on the other side of yesterday
you softly gazed at me
a memory I had forgotten
a sight I'd never thought I'd see

Hearing you on a silence from the future
you sounded like a different kind of man
I won't know what it is that you said
until that future is part of the plan

Tasting a sadness that reminds me
of a time that is still to come
I wash away the sweetness
that lingers upon my tongue

Inhaling an aroma of what was
I let it settle, closing my eyes
A scent of Springtime and longing
once upon a sunrise

Feeling you softly upon my soul
sending my heart straight back to you
my body is now yearning
my mind, so easily fooled

Can you not see me? Am I not there?
I used to be everything to you, now you just don't care

If we pass in the street, you look the other way
I hope to catch your eye but you shy away

You're with someone else now, laughing at his jokes
Fluttering your eyes and lighting up his smokes

I don't even know him but I hope he hurts
When it's his turn to watch your sly little flirts

Feel the pain that I felt as you slipped away from me
Saying "it's me not you" as you explain you must be free

A cloud hangs over me, my stomach has cramps, a knot
What's the point of carrying on?
None, that is what

and the best i could do
is stare from afar,
gaze at those obsidian eyes
and get lost inside it.

i want to push myself onto you
and spout a few words,
but my rusty tongue will never work
whenever i face a beauty like you

so i'll go back to staring at perfection
a beauty in its purest form
that it burns my very soul

I'd like to think
That the stars from above guided me to you
A sailor lost in a stormy sea
Into a sanctuary where a maiden lives
Reigniting a dead fire that
turned a heart made of stone
Into vats of molten rock.

And whenever I rest my gaze
Upon those mysterious eyes
A pang of pain strikes my chest
As if the universe is reminding me
That you're a lover I have long lost
In another life, another realm, another world

But the currents of life held us in liaison
And we swim in this vast sea
Knowing that one day
The currents will wash us away
On the same shore where it all began
