I leave the warmth of the feast
Out into the pleasant night air
A cat walks in the garden
Quietly atop a stone wall
It's eyes reflect in torchlight
Like two carved emeralds
I watch from the stone bench
As he snags a damselfly from the air
Pinning it to the mossy stone

You said I did something wrong
so I have to stay in your box
can’t go to Trader Joe’s to buy bananas.

I guess you see a world
of good and bad boxes
and everyone has to be in one or the other.

I will explore your box
cut holes in all six sides
let the light of freedom in
and when I’m done
there won’t be much of your box left,
just more holes and light
than cardboard and tape.

That’s all your box ever was
just a bivouac
that grew soggy
when the first rain fell
and the directions you wrote
on the outside of the box
started to fade and run
down the sides
in ribbons of color
that made a nice pattern
in the shape of a bunch of bananas.

Like a sculpture
perfectly etched  marble

her hips and breast
my heart leaps
then guilt
I am god
does she not understand
that I could break and shatter her
but she laughs
The is hard to come by
So it's come by mail
You open your mailbox
and read the letter
until you cry
the ground is cold
and your bare feet

My poor friend Mike, he’s drunk again. Two beers
and he’s already texting me. “they playd
that songg u luv nd it reminded me
of u”. A few more cups and we’re at, “heyyyyy
u like my abs?” and then an “lol
cuz i really like u.” Then soon, “im home,
but u shuld b here 2.”  And then he spills
some more: “i thnk ur cute :)” shows on my phone
We’re friends, I think. He’s drunk. It’s just a fluke.
It gets too late. He begs, “will u plz tuck
me in?” And when his eyes begin to droop,
the last: “forgiv me plzzz but we shud ****.”

Embarrassment exudes when we next pass.
He looks at me, his face bright red. I laugh.
I would really, really, REALLY appreciate some feedback on this poem!

feeling alive just isn't what it used to be.

Stepping in a straight line on a painted black and yellow road
A thick blanket of ink on the individual plate
You look down on the lions jaws
You shy away from my hands and gaze upon the crown of gears

On an **** of boiled blood and frigid laughter
Out the right displacement of trackdarkness for a few seconds
When won't our empathy feel from deep within ourselves?
When won't our tints of gloom rent the darkness?

I'm looming for a mate, I’m not looking for you
What has always been fragmented, has been sealed by a robbery detective
We must not die, as giant natives
Nothing has happened to the Black Science, Thank You

Now you are not asking for ten million dollars
and your bleeding has stopped
No blood or tears should you spill,
but solitary dance among stones
Now I am asking for brutality
and You know the depth of the truth
eat the sweet laughter and caress the smiles to life

Adding moon and sunlight to the entire composition of something grandiose
Bigger than its old self
Failing to a find a light in myself
Is like finding fault in God’s work
And considering it completely void
Never believing in the all-powerful song-laced universe that within itself
Has meaning
Believing that everything has to be explained
Everything justified
Nothing mysterious, even less beautiful
Something we can rationalize
Something we can think rather than feel
And that I believe is the beginning and end of everything
One’s heart, one’s soul, one feelings
Thought is the habit of the discontent
Scrutiny is the hobby of pessimists
Love is the thought that doesn’t exist
Hope and acceptance
The feelings of the sax roaring through the night
Streetlights the guardians that lead me home
Meaning is meaningless
It steals beauty as if it ever really owned it in the first place
As if beauty was something that one could own
That one could ruin with a simple statement
A simple sentence
The interpretation that is no longer subjective or opinion but fact
The end all
But there is no end all
In my opinion
There is only begin-all
There is no end of time
There is no time
If zero existed I wouldn’t be here
All there is
Is infinity
If something exists
It can’t not exist
It  can only exist
There’s no need to keep track of what doesn’t exist
Only of what does exist
And what does exist
Needs no explanation
Explanation is only a reason
A reason not to enjoy everything
That not necessarily consumes or surrounds
But forms a part of the composition
That flows like a bee from a hive to a flower
Forming a beautiful painting
Poem
Novel
Essay
Expression
And at the same time
Giving everything meaning
And explaining that there is nothing to explain
There are no rational rationalizations
No understandable understandings
Understanding is overrated
The only thing I need to understand is that
Beauty is beautiful
Only is only
Many are many
Nothing is nothing
It doesn’t exist
The only thing with the right to exist
Is me running mad through the city streets
Screaming with joy
Straight to the forest
With lights burning
And bouncing off me
As hit the speed of flight
And learn to explode
Burning across the skies
Learning to walk on the sun
And listen as the trees and the rivers teach me the true meaning of music
As everything as is
Listens
Never waiting for it’s turn to speak
To kiss me
The guy with the big smile on his face

Reckless Abandon

Against better judgment, I forget
How the sun casts her shadow
On roads that unroll themselves
As minefields full of expectation
I find my pleasure in disaster that
Draws near when I laugh at it
Blowing caution to the wind
Of change behind me
Translation of my dutch poem 'Roekeloos'. Because of this, it misses a twist in the last two sentences, but the english title makes up for it as there is no real translation of 'reckless abandon' in dutch.
