With his upper-cut
released;
she lieth
abed,
sighing out.

off to the space where how
small we are becomes apparent, you
won't hear from me for a while but
I am alive and well, more-so than
previously, I assure you

off to the space where strings protest
the fallen angels we have allowed into
our homes, weathered giants aware of
each slice all the while supporting
greedy feet

we are the devil.
we are god.

anything but the in-between, that's
where things get lost

it's time to find my old friend
(my *******)
it doesn't care about making amends
(my *******)
no false hopes or promises
it does what it says (and advertises)
(my *******)
so back to the tried and true
(my *******)
in hopes I'll forget about you ...
... there's no guarantees

I felt you kiss the edges
of my gypsy soul last night.
You laid aside my armour
So rusty, yet so bright.

All the poets in all the bars
hung by Morganna's violet hair
casting ideals towards the stars
wept when they landed elswhere.

I let you take the diamond
from between my broken teeth;
and laid the hunter to rest
tonight never to repeat.

Our bodies told a story
full of puns and lifeless caricatures,
for the people we once were
that lived within this parchment
of our long forgotten dreams.

She is the ocean

when I can't swim. The truth is

                                                     I'm fine with drowning

We are brutally beautiful
We are
The soft red glow of a nuclear sunset
Pooling like blood
From wounds
Like that one time I cut my forearms open

Oh so that’s what a heartbeat looks like

It is sign language after a fist fight
When I’m so angry I can’t speak
So with my hands I tell you
No one should talk to you that way

It is the assbackwards way we allow ourselves to heal

For instance
When I had cancer
My parents took me to church when they could
Asked people to pray for me
And I thought drinking holy water might help me

It only made me sick
And I spent three days in the hospital

This life is *****
It is ugly

We are ugly
Like
Crime scene photos of bathtub suicides
Shortcutting life
And still getting into heaven

How after so many years
Just to make things interesting
Peter takes bribes now

And we are beautiful
Brutally beautiful
Endearing in our passion
Because it’s just a little too conscious to be animal
But we try

It is shotgunning a dove
And the rain of feathers
Even when damp with blood they are still soft

I wanna hold you tightly
You coarse cut angel
Your jagged edges rub
But neither of us wants to fall asleep alone

We will never be perfect
But we were supposed to be

Remember that
When your ugly rears its head
Like a mental mirror showing you only the things you notice about yourself
Know
nobody sees you the way you see yourself

Just remember
To smile more
And laugh when things are funny
Make love when you can

These things are good for you
Balance out the brutal
Because you

Are brutally beautiful
This poem is inspired by the poem "Human the Death Dance" by Buddy Wakefield. He is my poetic hero, and I recently met him, which was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Thank you for reading. Here is a video of him reading the poem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQWlnFMOgbE

I'm invincible tonight
Snarling punk guitar riffs
Dilate us. Wetting our taste for the Killer
**** chases cops
As I trip out in the passanger seat
he drinks strawberry sodas and smokes cigarettes
I dream in full color
lingering on the edge completeness

I begin to fade into the seat
Watching cars pass on their way

He speaks but his words are lost
A cure for cancer and broken hearts
Head colds and chest colds

The highway breaks and becomes back roads
I pass the time alone with a running reel of thought pictures
None of them including you

He parks
The car doors slam like gunshots
The ground gives way beneath my feet
The stillness as we close in for the ****

The last of my money turns into mere milligrams of peace

We take our hits on the back porch
The dealer's girl and baby sleep on the couch

I turn inside out
The cool night air
I close my eyes
Listening
To my
Pulse
Quickening....  Beneath the skin things begin to heat up

Then its gone
The money and the dreams of growing old
Always tommorow, never today
The clouds float like a silver blanket on the moon's ray's

They speak in tongues beside me
If they asked me, I do not know

Then again she returns
The thorn among the roses
Just as the warmth took me
Just as I began to forget

I don't remeber the ride home
If that's what you call a home

If once it could be like the first time again
I might not die trying to forget the things I fought hardest to keep
Those you love will hurt you the most
Those who love themselves only find solace in oblivion
Somewhere between awake and asleep
The flutter of eyelids
Signal lights for the infinite
