Monsters

I hate to think of humans as
monsters, killers, murderers, cannibals
But for generations,
we've been taking one another's lives
all in the name of power, greed & jealousy
Rest in peace to legends like 2pac, Nipsey
And to all those whose lives were taken by
fellow human beings
We've got to do better as people
We need to do away with evil
We need to fill our hearts with love
And I know that true love only comes from God.

Yea, I'm saying that we need God.

Sanitizer

The store shelves are all empty,
where do I find a heart sanitizer?
A substance to cleanse my thoughts,
to wash off anything that isn't God's.

How do I rid my mind of all these doubts
Is there a disinfectant for the mind?
Having a ***** mind is worse than
swimming in a septic tank ( ew! )

They say germs and viruses will get you sick
But the state of a man's heart and mind
are treated negligently
Maybe it's time to focus our attention
where it ought to be –
The condition/quality of ourselves within.

DNA

When you realize that you have greatness in your DNA
And that nothing can successfully stand in your way
Obstacles & hurdles wouldn't bother you
because you know you'll always scale through
You become aware that nothing can limit you
because the greater One lives inside of you
You become conscious that you were born a winner
designed to be victorious and indomitable
And the only one capable of stopping you, is you.

Paint

We might not be able to choose
how or when we die
But we can choose how we live
Other people's lives are like canvases,
We make our mark on them like a dye
You could either paint beauty on them
or you could be a stain
Living is more than heaping monetary gains
Some rich people die with regrets and pains
So, what impacts do you want to make?
When you're gone, what will people say?
Between birth and death is the time to
make our mark.

Darkness

Why do we complain and whine about
darkness as if darkness is the problem
Darkness prevails as light sources wane
If we have been called to be the light
of the world, then the real problem is us.

Before pointing our fingers at others,
we should first blame the person that
we see in the mirror. Say to him or her –
You could do much better than this.

These times call for us to look within
ourselves and really question ourselves –
Am I really shining forth as light?

Assignment

The thing about an assignment is that,
It can be done by another person
But there's a way you were designed to
do yours, that speaks of your uniqueness.
Therefore, let your uniqueness speak
Never allow its voice to be lost in the
myriad of voices out there.
And remember, our life is an assignment.
Our daily life is filled with many
mini assignments.
Be attentive as to how you do yours.
